6/16-6/23 TR: It's Hot, Hot, Hot: Update 7/27 Top 10 Lists

We rode TSM for the first time this past trip too. I liked it, but agree a bit that I don't know if it's worth all the effort required to actually get on it:confused3 Maybe someday it will calm down and be a bit easier. I remember that Thursday storm as well. It went on for quite some time and foiled our pool plans. Looking forward to more:thumbsup2

Gosh, I can't believe what happened to you at TSM. That's crazy. We had good experiences there on our trip.

That's a great picture with the Incredibles!

That Incredible pic is one of my favs.

Wow! I can't belive a CM yelled so loud that everyone else around you got quiet. That must have been really bad! How very un-Disney. Hopefully that won't ruin it for you in the future. It is a fun ride and hopefully you will go on it again and enjoy it.

I checked my journal for that day and it was a free day for us and we were going to hit DHS that afternoon/evening. We ended up not going due to that storm. It was another bad one!

Of course we will ride again. I think it is still very popular because it is so new. This is a great excuse to go back to WDW!!

It was really crowded. I have read in other TRs that DHS is busiest on Fantasmic days. This was a Fantasmic day. That could have explained the crowds.

Thanks to all for reading!!:cutie:

Hey, I just realized we were at the MK on Wed the 17th too!

Wow, I'm so very glad we skipped a F! at DHS. I had originally planned on attending Tues or Thurs because F! is such an amazing show, but the crowd reports scared me off.

I agree, the dash to TSM at rope drop was mayhem! Hubby went ahead to get FPs and we then rode standby. The whole street was mobbed! So sorry you were treated poorly and good for DH for holding it together.

Your DD as the Queen of Hearts?:rotfl:I don't think so. She looks way to sweet.:)

Damn! That DHS sure look crowd. I don't think I can handle it with the heat and the crowd at the same time. I would be soaking in the pool with an apple martini or a froze mango margaritta in my hand.

I am still debating should I try the TSM or not. Almost everyone told me it's fun and I should give it a try. But everytime I walked pass by, the line is just too much for me. Factor in with the CM attitude now, I am seriously have second thought.

50's PTC was a pleasant surprise for us. Great food! Great desert! And great smoothies!! :cloud9: What did you eat there??

The Incredible is just awesome. Judging by how close you are with Mrs. Incredible's height, you are quite tall.

We did go back to DHS another day, and it was much better. I told my DD that you said how sweet she looks. She says thanks!

Definitely try TSM once. Don't go by my opinion. At 50's PTC DH and DD 16 had the chicken pot pie, DD 13 had the Caesar salad, and I had the stacked sandwich. It was all very tasty. For dessert DH and I had the brownie sundae, and the girls had a regular sundae.

The woman in the pic with Mr. Incredible is actually my 16 year old daughter. She is a little taller than me. Thanks for the wonderful compliment. :lmao:

Hey! I had the chicken pot pie there too.

Now I need to see a picture of you standing next to some thing to see the height reference. And your daughter is taller than you!!!

I'm enjoying your trip report. Only real Disney fans visit in the summer! Thanks for taking the time to post about your travels. I LOVE Wilderness Lodge.

I will have to give that some thought. Keep reading there might be another one.:rolleyes1

Thanks for the great compliment. I am Disney fan that has never seen WDW at Christmas, and I would love to. My daughters are now in HS with block schedule. Also, DD16 is on the HS basketball team, so there is no traveling from Nov. through Feb.

We have now become WL fans as well.

I have been trying to figure out where to put this update. I decided to make it its own post. This is the first time that we have ever pin traded. Last Christmas DH bought a lot of 25 pins and 3 lanyards off the internet. He separated the pins and wrapped them up for Christmas gifts. On Christmas morning we opened them and were quite surprised. We did a little trading with each other and then waited patiently for our trip to trade some more.

We were all a little nervous and figured that we would just trade with CMs.We took our pins to all of the parks and even our meals. It was really fun. The girls were very observant and found lots of pins that they liked.

DD16 decided that she would try to get all villian pins. She did except for one Stitch and a Rufus pin. She was so excited to get Rufus. Here is her lanyard.

Pin4.jpg

DD 13 wasn't sure what she would collect, however once we got there, she decided to collect the baby character pins. She even traded with another guest. Her's were hard to find. She had all but one of the Mickey Baby set and also wanted to collect the Pooh Baby set, so she bought herself the Mickey set, kept the one she didn't have and traded the rest for the entire Pooh set. Baby Eeyore was the hardest to find. She didn't find it until the dinner on the day before we left. She also was able to collect some Tinkerbells. She even did a mystery pin trade because she was so curious. She probably had the most fun. Here are her lanyards.

Pin3.jpg

Pin2.jpg

I had no rhyme or reason to my collecting. I just chose pins that I liked. DH bought me the Tigger pin 2 years ago and the WL pin this year. Here is my lanyard.

Pin1.jpg

So, if you are considering Pin trading, my advice is to do it. It was really fun. If your children are shy, you may have to ask to see the pins. DD 13 was a little shy in the beginning but got the hang of it.

Anyway this was our experience with pin trading.

What fun collections your kids came up with:goodvibes My kids pin traded this trip too. It was a fun way to interact with the CMs. I'm planning on buying lots for them to trade every trip:thumbsup2

I love all your lanyards! My kids did a little pin trading this time and I suspect will do more next time. My DD has quite a few of those baby ones too--the few trades she did do were for those!

I love your older DD's villains...what a good idea!

Hello All,

We drove to southern NC that night and found a hotel. We had breakfast at Waffle House the next morning. Now I know some of you went, YUCK!!! We used to live in SC and loved Waffle Houses. The food is always good and cheap. I love their sweet tea. Being from "up North" this is a good enough reason for me. So, let's here it from all you Waffle House fans!!!! I know you are out there.

Here is a funny story. As I was sitting down in the booth, the waitress says, "Boy you are a tall drink of water" I am only 5'9" which, yes, is taller than average, but I'm not that tall. My oldest daughter is actually taller than me. It was the strangest thing that a stranger has ever said to me. We laughed about for the whole trip.

I'll stop there. Up next, we're in Orlando, now what do we do???

We're finally in Orlando!

Pin trading!

Gotta love Waffle House! :cheer2:What amazes me is that sometimes you can find two Waffle Houses located on the same Interstate exchange just a quarter mile or even less apart from each other!

Our family made up our own car game - The Waffle House game. :yay:We compete against each other to see who can see and call out the most Waffle Houses. You get one point for each Waffle House sign you see (road signs and the actual Waffle House sign). It is astonishing how many points we rack up on our road trip.

I finally got caught up and have read all your posts now from start to finish. You have done a great job of sharing your trip with us. I like how you have captured your family's experiences.

We too had trouble with TSM. My sensor or something did not work as well. It registered a few shots but for the majority of the time did not register the shots. Luckily, my DS's worked. As many of you have already stated. The ride was okay but not something we really desired to do again and again. Buzz Lightyear is better than TSM in my opinion and so much easier to get on!

Although the girls and I have officially started the trip by visiting DTD, DH says that the trip doesn't begin until our bags are in the room at WL. This must be a man thing.:confused3 Maybe someone can explain it to me.

I will leave you here with these thoughts. Is their room ready?? What park do they go to first??

Jumping in late but for this man, the vacation doesn't start until I see the Castle. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to reading your report.

All caught up and it sounds as if you had a great trip. Can I ask what kind of camera you were using? You have some amazing close-ups.

how fun--and a good idea to search and trade for a set/collection:goodvibes

That was actually DH's idea. I thought it a good one too.:cool1:

The lot that he ended up getting was great. I even kept some of those because I liked them so much. The one with Mickey as a ghost and the black and white one of pluto was from the original purchase. We will definetly do this again.

She loved it. I never could think of a collection, so I just went with ones that I like. I really wanted a Mater pin. Didn't find that one until the last day.

Love the Waffle House game. You can't play it until you get south PA. I've never seen a Waffle House in PA.
I like Buzz Lightyear too. But then again I won on that one.

Jumping in late but for this man, the vacation doesn't start until I see the Castle. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to reading your report.

:welcome: When we see that castle the teasing starts because it makes me cry every time. Then all I hear is, "Oops, there she goes crying again!!" :sad2:

All caught up and it sounds as if you had a great trip. Can I ask what kind of camera you were using? You have some amazing close-ups.

DH uses a Canon Power Shot SX100IS. He spent a lot of time looking for just the right camera. It was really hard to find. We ended up getting the last one at Sears. I think they were coming out with a new one.

Thanks for the compliments.

OK I know it has been a while. We went to NYC on Wed. I have to take DD 14 to the orthodontist and then I will post another update. If you haven't noticed, she turned 14 this week as well. I have to change my signature.

Have a good one everybody.

Hello Again,

Friday June 19: When last we left our weary travelers, we had an early night. In fact, I fell asleep and missed the EWP. Now, that's early. We had decided to head to EPCOT the next day and wanted to get there early. We woke early and arrived at the gates around 8:00ish. Now we had a choice to make. We could have been first at one of the turnstiles but stand in the sun or be second and stand in the shade. We opted for the shade. We had a nice time talking to those people around us and sharing PIN trading secrets. Once we were let through the turnstiles we headed around the "golf ball". However, who should we see standing all by herself?? DAISY!!!

Daisy2.jpg

We ran over for our first ever pic with Daisy and then headed to the rope. The plan was for DH to run for Soarin' FP while the girls and I rode Mission Space. 2 years ago, I was the runner. DH said that he would run this time. While we waited who headed in our direction??? Goofy

Goofy.jpg

I love the way he walks. After the opening, the girls and I headed to Mission Space and got on the first flight. We do the mild one in case anyone is interested. I was the commander and all went well.

DH was to get the FP and check out how to get tickets for Kim Possible. We met up with him at TT. He had FP for Saorin' and an 11:00 ticket for KP. I was worried that the girls would have to rush through the adventure in order to get to our 11:45 ressies at Coral Reef. DH assured me that the girls could go anytime after 11:00. I was pretty sure he was wrong, but I let to go. We went stand by on Test Track. After about 7 minutes the line stopped moving. Now I know this ride has a reputation for breaking down, so I wasn't surprised. We finally got to the ride after about 30 minutes. We like the ride well enough. I tried to talk my family into going in the single rider line because it had worked out so well on RNRRC. However, apparently this is different. :confused3 I have no idea why this is different.

Each day of our vacation was hotter than the one before. This one was HOT. We decided to head into Mouse Gear for some air conditioning. I was also in charge of buying a bag for a friend of mine to give to her granddaughter. I found the bag, but knew I would be back later to buy it. We headed to Soarin' to use our FP. I love this ride. We all do. It is so relaxing. I have never waited Standby for this ride. ALWAYS FP!!! When we got off we got a FP for later in the day. The FP were for 4:00. It was only 11:00 now.

DH assured my again that we could use our KP ticket later. So, we decided to head to Nemo and ride. We also wanted to check out the living seas before lunch. We did that and all went well. We checked in to the Coral Reef at 11:35 and didn't get seated until 12:00. This was by far the longest wait to get seated on the whole trip.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is amazing. I could watch the turtles all day. We were seated on the highest deck, but our view of the whole aquarium was unobstructed. It was lovely. We ordered drinks and the bread is great. Dh and I had the lobster ravioli, DD 16 had the ceasar salad, and DD 13 had a steak. It was all very good. The desserts were good as well. I can't for the life of me remember what we had. I do remember ordering the cheesecake and the waitress telling me not to because it wasn't very good. :rotfl:
2 things, althought I really liked it, the service was extremely slow. Our meal was over an hour and a half long. I know this is a hard place to get into, and now I know why.
2nd thing: The man at the table below us must have just gotten his new camera because he kept "trying things" and the flash went off everytime. Now, anyone who has been to the Coral Reef knows that it is quite dark. None of our photos turned out very well. So, every few minutes there would be a flash which would screw up your "night vision". It was annoying. I was so glad when his food came, so he would put the camera away.:scared1:

I would definetly eat here again.

After lunch I finally talked DH into checking about the KP ticket. Sure enough I was right. We missed our time, however, they gave us a new time which was 3:00. PERFECT!!!!!!! We tried to ride Spaceshop Earth, but it was having technical difficulties. So we headed to the LAND. When DH and I came on our honeymoon, we hated this ride. Now we like it. I think because we are getting old. :rotfl2: Here are a few pics.

Land1.jpg

Does she look bored or what???

Land6.jpg

Now that will make a lot of lemonade.

From here we headed to Figment. It is still the same. After Figment we headed to WS. We saw a little bit of the "Off Kilter" show. These guys are great.

OffKilter2.jpg

The girls would roll their eyes and act like they don't know me when I started to sing along. :rolleyes1 Well, I never.

We headed into the UK and who did we see, but my favorite all time Disney character. MARY POPPINS!!!

MPoppins2.jpg

She was not even standing in shade.

We went to the KP kiosk and asked if we could get started. We were a little early, but they said no problem. The girls were given the Kimmunicator. They had to share. Now, you need a little background. My daughters both loved KP, however, DD 16 was a much bigger fan. DD 13 let DD 16 hold the Kimmunicator for the adventure.

KimPossible.jpg

They really liked this. Their first adventure was in UK. They didn't need any help. DH did hang with them just to see what they were doing. NOT ME! I took my time, looked around, tried to keep cool in the shops and the shade. When this adventure was over, they could do another one in Mexico. This time DD 13 held the Kimmunicator. We went into the market place. I sat at the well while they roamed to solve the crime. I talked to a very nice woman about our trips. (Remember her for a later post) DH tried to teach a CM how to juggle. It did not go well. After a little while, the girls came back having spoiled Draken's evil plan and we were off.

I had planned another day at WS, so headed back to FW for Soarin', shopping, and Spaceship Earth. Which is exactly what we did. DH took this pic on the way back.

Epcot4.jpg

I like the changes to SE. It seems so much more up-to-date and there are things to do when you get off. From here we headed back to WL. We had a great day. It was HOT, but we made it through.

After freshening up a bit, DH and I headed down to the beack to see Bolt. It was scheduled to be shown on the beach, but when we got there, no one was there. We stayed a while and he stomped my in a game of tetherball and still no one showed. :confused3 We then walked around the resort some, looked for hidden mickey's, and took some more pics. Here's one.

WL6.jpg

We relaxed a bit and hit the hay.

Coming up!! Do LGMH really work?????

We were at Epcot that day too though I think we didn't show up until around noon. It was hot! That's interesting they didn't let you use the KP tickets past your time. They let us several times:confused3 It must depend on the CM. Smart to let your girls do the missions while you took refuge in the air conditioning. We enjoyed the missions more in the evening than in the mid day sun. Looking forward to more:goodvibes

I meant to post about your pins. My oldest decided to collect the cuties(baby Disney characters) and Amelia collected Tinkerbell! What a coincidence.

We were at Epcot on Friday too! Look for us in your pictures. We used our KP tickets past their return time too.:confused3

Wow, that 9 pound lemon must be fossilized by now, its been there quite a while.:rotfl:

Your family seems to be having a blast! I love your pictures. Thank you for helping me get my Disney fix! :goodvibes
