oh, and you promised to get back to those nautical flag tiles...I'm curious about them!
Indeed I did!
And, I am a man of my word.
So, here we go with the flag lesson.
First, here is the answer key. For purposes of our lesson, I will assume that these are the flags that
DCL recognizes, because this chart was posted near the recreational boat dock on
Castaway Cay:
So, let's try our first photo. This is a photo of the crew pool:
This one is easy. By consulting the chart, we can see that these flags spell D-C-L.
Now, let's try another. Here is a photo of a life ring, and off to the right in the background, you can see a flag pattern:
Same flags, same D-C-L.
Let's try something harder.
These flags are posted on the rails between the Mickey pool and Pluto's Dog House:
Let's start from the left (the way we read), and here's what we get:
N-E-Y
That's the first panel.
Huh?
Then:
D-I-S
NeyDis?
What?
Wait a sec. The pattern repeats.
It says Disney!
But, who installed these?
It says Disney in the middle.
But, if we read the whole thing it says Ney-Dis Ney-Dis!
But, at least that makes a little sense.
Then we have these:
A men's room floor on Deck 9:
What the heck is this supposed to mean? Maybe that checkered looking one is an L, but I don't see a flag that has a red stripe in the middle. I could ask my brother in the Navy, but he has slightly more important things to do. Anybody have an answer for this one?
And, then we have another men's room floor pattern (also from Deck 9):
Same thing here. That might be an L, but what are the other letters?
I think this is some kind of code.
Someone needs to get some shots from the ladies' rooms.
Disney may be trying to tell us something.
And, I for one, would like to know what.
Do we have a nautical flag expert in the house?
Even though this trip report is done, I still do intend to post my final thoughts.
I am still collecting them, but I will get them posted.
