6/11/09 3 Night Wonder Trip Report-with 500+ Photos!!!

Loved your report.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Yes I have seen other TRs with more pictures. However, yours were the best. You had no two pictures that looked the same. I've seen some reports where people post 3-4 pictures of the same pose with different photopass borders.:lmao:

Sooo, was the verandah worth the extra $ in your opinion?

Great trip report. I love all of the pitcures. It looks like everyone had a great time. I cant wait till we go on our cruise.

Best trip report I have ever read. I loved every picture.
I saved to my favorites so I can forward to my friends who ask me
"We're thinking about taking a Disney Cruise."

I'm sad it's come to an end. I will miss you!

Awesome report as usual TCD! As someone who hasn't done DCL, I learned a lot that will help me make decisions in the future...which of course is one of the many benefits of the DIS! Only question I have for you is: is there golf cart parking outside the cabins? :rotfl2:

Sorry, Tony, but I can't get past your Disboard name. I am guessing that you are Italian American, right? And that name is OK? I haven't heard that kind of talk since Archie Bunker signed off :rotfl2:

You must be a fun guy!

Anyway, any clue what this all means?:

TCD

Close, I'm an italian Canadian but I spend so much time and $$ in the US on vacation I consider myself an adopted American.:thumbsup2

The name is ok since there is no harm in making fun of yourself.:rotfl2:.I'm getting a little tired of all this politically correct crap :confused3.

I loved Archie Bunker..:worship: man..I missed those old comdies.:happytv:

As for the plaque on the ship it indicates where the ship was built, by whom, the job number and completion date.

Thank you for taking the time to bring us along on your trip. Thanks for writing all that out and loading all those pictures. It was great to read. :flower3:

TCD - Thank you for your wonderful cruise report and for all the awesome photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Your report was EPIC! Finished reading it after I got home from kickball tonight and felt like I was getting off the ship w/ you! Thanks so much for sharing. You have inspired me for my trip report in August for ABD!

Thank You!

Another Awesome TCD Trip Report!!! Thanks for taking the time to write it and post all of the pictures. It brought back a lot of fond memories from our Wonder cruise in 2004.

BTW-you should try the RCL Freedom of the Seas sometime. Your family would have a blast on it. I'm sure you could take at least 500 pictures of people surfing on the Flowrider on the back of the ship! We sailed on it back in 2006 and sailed on it's sister ship (the Liberty of the Seas) last summer, and both trips were awesome!!!

Thanks for sharing your trip.

I can't wait 'til December 2010 when I go on the podcast cruise on the Wonder!

Just loved your trip report. Thanks so much for getting it all done and not dragging it out over several months! :thumbsup2

We are thinking about booking our first cruise, and your report gave me a real idea of all the fun things there are to experience on a cruise vacation! :woohoo:

and most importantly
5) If you want to get through customs quickly, do not bathe:thumbsup2

Good one. That is funny! I don't care who you are.

Pikey was dressed as Rod Stewart? Did you tell you this? your not the only one that finds this disturbing, I find it disturbing as well and hate it:lmao:, can't stand Rod Stewart, but my friend listenings to him. Now Frankie dressed as Bruce Springsteen I can stand and not disturbing since Bruce is from NJ so I gotta love him:goodvibes

Yes, Pikey said that he was dressed as Rod Stewart. I understand that he is partial to Brits, but there are about a million better choices. But, he is still Pikey, so I will let this one transgression go. Have a great time on your cruise!

Sooo, was the verandah worth the extra $ in your opinion?

That is a good question. And, one that I promised to answer. As I type this, I am in the process of collecting my final thoughts about this cruise, which I will share right here in the next week or so. So, check back!

Well, Dave, my camping buddy, I'm sorry to report that not only is there no golf cart parking at the cabins, I am afraid to say that I didn't even see one golf cart on the ship. But, I did see some on Castaway Cay. And, often with the keys in. Don't think I didn't think about it.

Your report was EPIC! Finished reading it after I got home from kickball tonight and felt like I was getting off the ship w/ you! Thanks so much for sharing. You have inspired me for my trip report in August for ABD!

Kickball? Really?

And, what is ABD?

What a great TR! Love all the details. It seemed like longer than a 3-day cruise!

You have raised an interesting point. Somehow, the three night cruise seems longer than three nights. The truth is that you will not even be on the ship for 72 full hours, but you will be having so much non-stop fun that it ends up feeling like a lot more than three days. I like three day cruises!

Could you also tell me how the weather in the Bahamas is this time of year? Thanks!

You know that song: "Hot, hot, hot . . . " I think that sums it up nicely. And throw in an occasional thunderstorm, and you've got it. When we left for our cruise, we were in the midst of a bit of a heatwave in Florida. The weather in the Bahamas was very similar. For some reason, the sun seems to be stronger. There always seems to be a nice breeze, though. So, I would say that the weather will be in the 90's, and humid.

Thanks, all, for your comments on my little report.

I do intend to post some final thoughts, as soon as I have them collected.

TCD

well from what I know he is a Red Sox Fan as well, so if he dresses as Rod Stewart when I go I might have to make fun of him, but like you said he is still Pikey. And I will have a great time on my cruise now only if August 27th will get here soon:cool1:

oh, and you promised to get back to those nautical flag tiles...I'm curious about them!

Awesome TR! Thanks for all of the time you put into it. Leaving on the Wonder July 23 and it REALLY helped! :)

oh, and you promised to get back to those nautical flag tiles...I'm curious about them!

Indeed I did!

And, I am a man of my word.

So, here we go with the flag lesson.

First, here is the answer key. For purposes of our lesson, I will assume that these are the flags that DCL recognizes, because this chart was posted near the recreational boat dock on Castaway Cay:

DCL61109796.jpg

So, let's try our first photo. This is a photo of the crew pool:

DCL61109607.jpg

This one is easy. By consulting the chart, we can see that these flags spell D-C-L.

Now, let's try another. Here is a photo of a life ring, and off to the right in the background, you can see a flag pattern:

DCL61109888.jpg

Same flags, same D-C-L.

Let's try something harder.

These flags are posted on the rails between the Mickey pool and Pluto's Dog House:

DCL61109680.jpg

Let's start from the left (the way we read), and here's what we get:

N-E-Y

That's the first panel.

Huh?

Then:

D-I-S

NeyDis?

What?

Wait a sec. The pattern repeats.

It says Disney!

But, who installed these?

It says Disney in the middle.

But, if we read the whole thing it says Ney-Dis Ney-Dis!

But, at least that makes a little sense.

Then we have these:

A men's room floor on Deck 9:

DCL61109618.jpg

What the heck is this supposed to mean? Maybe that checkered looking one is an L, but I don't see a flag that has a red stripe in the middle. I could ask my brother in the Navy, but he has slightly more important things to do. Anybody have an answer for this one?

And, then we have another men's room floor pattern (also from Deck 9):

DCL61109878.jpg

Same thing here. That might be an L, but what are the other letters?

I think this is some kind of code.

Someone needs to get some shots from the ladies' rooms.

Disney may be trying to tell us something.

And, I for one, would like to know what.

Do we have a nautical flag expert in the house?

Even though this trip report is done, I still do intend to post my final thoughts.

I am still collecting them, but I will get them posted.

TCD

Just read your whole trip report and it was awesome! Your family looks to be having a fab time in all the pictures. We have never cruised before but are looking at a Disney cruise around Christmas 2010 (if I can wait that long). I really want to hear your thoughts about the verandah room as well.
