6/1-6/8 DDP Now complete WITH PICS! Lots of character dining!

We ate here twice. The first time we got the 1/2 chicken meal with potatoes and carrots. My husband got the strawberry shortcake and I got he key lime pie. It was so good. Very juicy, the carrots weren't overcooked, and the potatoes disappeared quickly with my daughter around. The desserts are huge. You can't really tell from the pics below but they were enough to feed 2 each easily. We're big eaters and my daughter and I shared the key lime pie and still couldn't finish. Both desserts were great but I have to admit the strawberry shortcake was just a "bit" better than the key lime pie. The key lime pie had a rich bite to it that made it impossible to eat the whole thing.

The meal was so good that we went back another day and ordered the exact same thing. This time we both got the shortcake though!:thumbsup2

The only thing bad about this restraunt was the huge crowd there. Both days we went there were hundreds of people eating there. They had a huge dining area with endless tables but ironically the tables were always full! Both days we had to sit and hunt down a family cleaning up and then swoop in and claim the table before the other mass of "waiters". The line went fast and they had plenty of people ringing up your food.

The staff here was great. It was very clean for a busy counter service location. The people cleaning the tables were very helpful, offering to get our daughter a spoon when she noticed her trying to eat with a fork with a bit of trouble. They also came mid-meal offering to take trays/trash to make our meal more comfortable. Very friendly.

We'd eat here anytime! The dessert selection alone is a good reason to eat here Its not prepackaged cake or cookie. Its like the Main Street Bakery at Magic Kingdom. A LOT of bakery goods that are absolutely huge. Not that we ever really tried them when we saw the shortcake....;)

One day we went up to the French Quarter to "relive" our past trip. Since we'd stayed there before we thought it would be fun to go eat there again. It was a counter service meal. I think its called the Sarrasouga Floats or something like that....I'm sure its spelled wrong but its the only place at French Quarter.

Both of my kids got the kids spaghetti meal with carrots/brownie. My husband and I both got the taco salad.

I love this place because it is so small and it never seems crowded like most other places. The resort is small so I'm sure thats the reason. The food was made quickly and the staff was all very helpful.

The taco salad was pretty good. The shell tasted a bit old but not so much to hinder the quality dramatically. Jut not "freshly cooked". It was huge and I was unable to finish it all. My husband licked his plate clean so I guess it was good to him.

Both kids loved the spaghetti and meatball. It was a bit small portion wise for my son. He's 9 and a big eater. Since my daughter is such a small eater my son ended up eating most of hers anyway. Noone left hungry. The kids got a gluten free brownie for dessert just to try. Neither liked it too much. I tried a bite and it just isn't a "normal" brownie by far. Not gross...just too different in texture. Stick with the cookie for the kids.

We ate breakfast at POP 3 times by getting kids meals for us. We tried the pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage 3 days in a row. Every single day the bacon was floppy and old (downright chewy), the eggs were dry and cold, and the pancakes are bordering on hard on the sides from being in the heating bin for so long. The sausage seemed okay all 3 days.

After the 3rd dreary breakfast we got a cinnamon roll and it was much better. The cinnamon roll was warm. Wasn't "old" tasting or dry. We also tried muffins and fruit cups.

My husband preffered the fruit cups and said it always tasted fresh and good. My son liked the apple turnovers. I preferred the chocolate muffins (rich and devine) and the blueberry muffins. They were big enough to keep you full until lunchtime. We ended up using our leftover snack credits to buy muffins / fruit cups for a few days of breakfast and took 8 of them home with us when we checked out since we hadn't used our snacks. They made a nice snack on our long drive and gave us one last taste of "disney"

Last CS location was Pizza Planet. My kids were excited to eat here since they areToy Story fans. When we got there (apx. 5:00) there was no line at all. We decided to order 1 pepperoni and 2 veggie pizzas. We requested one without mushrooms and were told there would be a 25 minute wait to get that cooked. Are you kidding me? 25 minutes??? They weren't even busy! My son quickly changed his order to a Pepperoni one too. The pizzas came with a salad, drink, and dessert. We got rice krispie treats and large pops.

The salad was pretty good. Nothing to brag about. Just lettuce with 2 grape tomatoes and an onion slice. It was refreshing though in the Florida heat. The 2 pepperoni pizzas were good according to my family. Not the "freshest" but still okay. My veggie pizza was disappointing. There was literally a pool of liquid in the middle of it from the veggies (from frozen pizza maybe???) I didn't think much of it and soaked it of with a few napkins. Unfortunately when eating it the middle of the crust was soaked through and mushy. Pretty gross really. I ended up eating the crust and outer edge leaving the middle of the pizza with all th veggies. I'd suggest going with the cheese or pepperoni pizza here.

The rice crispy treats were awesome. I remember them being a bit bigger a few years back but I could be wrong.

Pizza pics were too dark. sorry. Here's us and the rice krispie treats though:

Well, we're at the end of our eating extravaganza. Sorry we didn't have more pics to show. Darn luck with the camera.

Something interesting to think about: the average buffet meal for our family was around $100 paying for 2 adults, 1 child, and 1 eating free.... Suggested tip was always right under $20.

On our way home we stopped at a Shoneys and it had a buffet. The food was just as good as the food at most Disney buffets although they didn't have as many choices. Total bill at Shoneys ---- right at $20. Interesting, isn't it?;)

Thanks for the dining reviews. I found them very informative. Your son is a hoot too! He did a great job reviewing Whispering Canyon!

By chance did you eat at Chef Mickeys on June 4? We were up at Cali Grill that night and the rain was insane!

I completely agree with you regarding the food at 1900 PF and H&V, just terrible!

Loved the taco salad at POFQ, we were there June 3-7 and ate that yummy salad twice, I wish I could have one right now!

great pictures and reviews!

Why yes, it was on June 4th! I'm guessing the waterfall leaks are pretty common though. I just read on someone elses dining review that they were at one of those tables and it almost ruined their camera. Guess they don't mind a few waterfalls now and then on their customers.;)

That taco salad WAS good.

Excellent reviews, really enjoyed them and your son is fabulous adding his own comments.

We agree with your thoughts on 1900PF, coincidentally both times we ate there for dinner someone in our party had vomiting/upset stomachs and while we can't prove it was the restaurant it has put us off for life.

Yea, we won't be returning either. Sorry to hear you ended up with the same problem we did! My son said that he would rather go hungry than eat there again. A mixture of the incredibly long dinner service and sickness that night really left a bad taste in his mouth!:headache:

The only good thing we came up with here was the fact that we went there the 2nd to last day so we weren't stuck being sick and miserable facing a week of park playing!
