there has been some talk about a 5th gate and if there was one what would be in it? How i see it could happen is like this , MK has 5 lands (excluding main street) so lets find 5 lands.

To the left will start off with Cars Land, yes Cars Land it will be a huge draw for the East coast and it could be slightly bigger to hold the large amount of people who visit

Next Land at (10 o'clock on the map) will be ....... Avenger City a Roller-coaster, and motion ride here along with meet and greets

Next Land Bring Mystic Point from Hong Kong Disneyland something new that would have mystery and a little scary

Next land Star Wars land at the key stone top of the map the biggest land having a speeder bike coaster, walk through Falcon, Stage Show.

Final Land something princess Tangled Frozen dark ride etc. maybe an old one too like Pinocchio

what would be the center structure? MK has Castle , Epcot the sphere, i would like to copy the Volcano from Tokyo Disney the Sea with the attraction journey to the center of the earth

this may seem a little messy at first but add in a few buffer zones or mix and match them or go away form the Spoke wheel like MK and go with something like Epcot two spheres or have the center be a big lake with a large night time show and everything is around the rim anything is possible but this is something i would like to see a 5th gate

I would rather not have a 5th gate. WDW needs to improve the parks they have now before they even consider a 5th gate.

Epcot needs some TLC and the Studios needs some too.

I agree fix the parks you have now. Also to the OP the avengers can't come to WDW due to the contracts with universal so that land would have to be scraped.

Major problem is one, per contract Mystic Manor is exclusive to Disney Hongkong. per Universal/Marvel contract, any characters used at Universal Studios Florida can't not be used by Disney on the East Coast however on the west coast yes.

What about Ironman? I dont remember USF or IOA using him though I could be wrong. Not saying he could be one whole land but that could be the storyline for a great coaster.

I agree Disney needs to do some housecleaning but the hypothetical are fun

He's part of the avengers can't be used in the WDW parks. They did the iron man monorail on the resorts line that monorail couldn't go into the parks. They are building an iron man ride in Hong Kong.

I think if they did do a foith gate at this point it will most likely be themed to the star wars movies as otherwise they will be just shoehorning them into a small part of DHS. Cars land would be a much better fit in DHS then in a new park.

Wait...... Gatorland is not the 5th gate?

As far as the OP I really like your layout. I too see some obstacles with the Marvel land but that can be worked out. As far as the other lands you have hit some home runs. Personally, Star Wars should be the main land since they spent so much for it not to mention the draw. As far as the "centerpiece" it too should be Star Wars. Death star? Jedi Academy? Millennium Falcon? Something along those lines. It doesn't necessarily need to be a ride like EC Spaceship Earth but that would be alright by me if it was. Perhaps they should make it an imperial star ship and have the Darth Vader meet and greet there.

As far as pp goes...I too agree that EC (particularly FW) needs serious help. Also, DHS needs a large revamp as well.

If they were to add a 5th gate as the op suggested my initial idea would be to scrap marvel for now since you can't use the bulk of the characters here and save that land for an upcoming film that is a big hit. No one saw Frozen doing this a few years ago and by the time they plan this out (assumption) they may have another hit on their hands.

As much as I'd love to see a Star Wars 5th gate, I'd much prefer they put some $ into Epcot and DHS. Having been to DHS last October and DCA in March, Hollywoodland/DCA made DHS look absolutely awful by comparison. And I like DHS! But putting that money toward Epcot's Future World and DHS would be far cheaper and we'd get a lot out of it, I think. (Though I'm sure Disney would MAKE more money off a 5th gate so.....whatever.)

I'm still cheesed off that they are putting money into Avatarland rather than putting it towards Epcot or DHS first! I got really excited about the rumored DHS changes last year (Star Wars, Monsters Inc, etc) that (maybe) got axed/put on hold due to the FP+ funds....

I honestly think they will make these changes in EC and DHS as it is much cheaper and will revitalized something they already have. I think they will just be announced a year later than we had all hoped. I think it is safe to say that the reshuffling of Disney Leadership that just occurred is a clear sign of that.

Put me in the camp of wanting to enhance the current parks rather than a whole new park.

From a business perspective, creating a whole new theme park requires a huge investment in infrastructure. Roads, parking lots, transportation, gate facilities, etc. Enhancing the current parks by adding attractions would not require the same level of investment that building whole new parks would engender.

From a visitor perspective, things are already fragmented enough with four parks. We don't need to add a 5th place to travel to/from to see everything.

OP, you have got some really cool ideas for a 5th gate! I do however, also think the first priority should be giving attention to the weak spots of DHS and EPCOT. I love the retro Hollywood theming of DHS so much, but there just aren't enough attractions at this park! And Star Wars or Cars or Monsters Inc. attractions could really help out. Epcot is my favorite park by far, but Future World is seriously in need of help. I think Captain EO and Ellen's Energy Adventure should be replaced with more cutting edge, relevant attractions. I would never want to see Figment go because it is such an icon of the parks, but I wouldn't mind seeing it get a new look and feel to make it more interesting. Based on my last few visits to the parks within the last two years, I have seen that the attention to detail that I thought was a distinguishing feature of Disney Parks has been lacking. Overall upkeep of the park and resorts grounds is not as impressive as it once was (fading and peeling paint, lack of hospitality in some parts, mechanical issues) and I think these details are really important for the true Disney experience.
All of that being said, I think a 5th gate would be great for the future! I think for the many many park visitors who are repeat guests and are familiar with the parks, a 5th gate would be a good thing because it would keep things interesting and new. It's hard to imagine what the theme would be.

I agree that they should enhance the current parks before thinking about a 5th gate. But just for fun, I'd love a Tokyo Disney Sea inspired park. I feel like Disney needs a place to build all those places that can't be accomodated at Magic Kingdom and that don't fit in any other park, like Mysterious Island, Port Discovery, Arabian Coast or Mermaid Lagoon.

I think you're right, and I definitely hope so.....I'm just wary of getting my hopes up again to have them crushed! :) I don't think Epcot FW and DHS could honestly go much longer without putting some investment into them, before they started looking REALLY sad. I hope they put some of the same shine into DHS that they did for Hollywoodland/Carthay Circle/Buena Vista Street at DCA.

On the last dis podcast, they mentioned a top theme park (not ride, whole park) designer had been assigned to the Star Wars project.

I seriously think they could do both, they aren't hurting for money. We already know they have plans for Epcot. There would have been no reason to put Tom Fitzgerald in charge of Creative Direction of Epcot if that wasn't pretty much a certainty.

DHS does in fact need majorly revamped. To have a hit like Cars Land that all you have to do is basically replicate it and not use it is crazy. So hopefully that's at least one thing they will do. They have a lot of underutilized space, it's absolutely unthinkable they wouldn't figure out a way to make that work for them.

It takes years to get a whole park off the ground. There is no reason they couldn't forge ahead with revamping and renewing Epcot and DHS while putting that into play as well. Otherwise they will see more market share lost as Universal keeps plowing the money in every year to it's parks.

Don't forget that lovely new hotel they have there. How many people will decide to spend a few nights there now to go along with the 2-3 days they are going to want to spend at the Universal parks. Especially people who don't rent cars...

The last thing that is a must is for them to remember part of what always made WDW so amazingly special was how perfect everything was. To have rides in the MK so in need of a bit of TLC that speakers are broken, paint is faded and chipped, parts of the ride cars are broken as well as other things is really unbelievable. How has that been allowed to happen? Whoever is in charge of that stuff really needs to get their act together, or be given the resources to make it happen...

And ok, I said the last thing in the paragraph above but perhaps a tiny bit more thought into staff training? If not at first, perhaps anyone that lasts say a year is given a more in depth refresher course of Traditions training?

Just my 2 cents...

Mel

Yes but that doesn't he can't be in charge of an expansion rather than a park opening. This could also mean he could be in charge of a whole park redo. I don't see a 5th gate at this time.

I think that it is important to remember, especially with EC, that it isn't out of the question that they will re-imagine all of FW. By that I mean they will no longer call it Future world. How that will go over is another question but there is no doubt they need to move forward with some type of plan (quite quickly) in order to get this part of the Park up to snuff.

My only hope is that they don't try to over do it and really impact any of the countries. Truly, this is one of the only shinning parts of the park.
