Hi - I am new here over on the Events Boards. Can someone please tell me if there is a minimum age limit on a 5K run? We are looking to do a 5K as a family and I have 2 DD's, ages 10 & 13. By the time we do an event they will be 11 & 14. Thanks so much! :goodvibes

No, there is no age limit. The Half Marathons require you to be 14 or older.

Thanks - if I may ask one more question - what Disney Events sponsor 5Ks other than Marathon Weekend? Can someone pls point me in the right direction? Thanks. I am so excited about doing a 5K with my family, I am also considering the Half Marathon! :woohoo:

I thought the half marathon was 16 - my soon to be 14 year old neice was happy to hear its 14 - I just told her and said 2012 here we come!!

For the endurance event weekends, there is a 5k for the marathon weekend in January, the Royal Family 5k the day for the Princess Half, and a 5k the morning of the Wine & Dine.

In addition, the first weekend of May is the ESPN Weekend 5k.

Definately 16 because my 16 (soon to be 17) DS just completed this second Disney Half last weekend.

Perfect - just what I was looking for! :thumbsup2

Per runDisney, the minimum age for the Princess and the Disneyland Half Marathons (the two with registration open) is 14. It's right there in black and white. I don't see why they'd change it for the WDW Half. The "16" on the info page is the minute mile pace you have to keep.

Oops, thatmy bad, I meant to type 14 not 16. DS's first Disney half was when he was 14. (I need to proofread before hitting the submit button!)

It happens! :) I always have to check that I'm not yelling at someone because my bird likes to stand on the edge of my keyboard and he's always locking the caps lock. :sad2:

My DDs and I and some other friends ran the 5K this January. My DDs are 8 and 13 and our friends' kids are 9, 13 and 16. The younger ones did just great~ they ran with the older kids and beat the pants off of me! :goodvibes
(We did train with my 8yo so she knew how far to expect, which I would recommend.)
There were lots of younger kids running the 5k!

It's a blast! Have fun!:cheer2:

I have seen kids as small as 4 running the 5K. My boyfriend is currently having his 5 and 8 year old train so that they can run/walk the Royal Family 5K with us next month. I am really looking forward to it.

Another question... are all the 5Ks in Epcot?

I showed my 10yo a map I found of the Buzz and Woody run in Epcot and she's so excited that she's been running a few miles on the treadmill every day!

Thanks :goodvibes

It varies. The only races garunteed not to change venues are the Expedition Everest Challenege which is at Animal Kingdom and the ESPN 5K which is at Hollywood Studios. The Family Fun Runs in January change venues every few years. I have done it at Animal Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney Hollywood Studios. The Princess Family Fun Run has always been done at EPCOT. The Halloween Family Fun Run associated with the Wine&Dine was held at the Magic Kingdom and I expect that that one would stay there since the MK is the park decodated for Halloween.
