$590 million lottery winner is 84 years old

Glad she didn't have a heart attack when she found out she won a la Waking Ned Devine.

Well hopefully she has a big family and a lot of kids and grandkids to leave it to.

Me too. Lol. And I didn't mean to sound all "doom and gloom" about her being older and winning I just hope she lives a long time and gets to enjoy some of the money and nobody rips her off.

Well. now she can afford the best medical treatments available if she becomes sick. Or the fanciest nursing home. I think a private villa in France with round the clock, private, sexy, young male nurses, sounds wonderful. :cloud9:

Of course, there is the potential down side, what if her family tries to put her away in some nursing home in a couple years, stating she has become incompetent, so they can gain control of her fortune?

That has got to be the absolute funniest movie I've seen. Remember the part when the old guy was on the motorcycle naked?

That would be my luck, I'd have a heart attack and keel over.

My first thought was, this woman didn't just win the lottery, her son did. Lucky him right?

I wonder how true this is?

Did she win? All she needs is the winning ticket. May be a way to keep the family out of the spotlight.

Either way that's a lot of money.

Oh I was only kidding when I said that, she is indeed the winner. But we all know who will wind up with all that money in the end.

What she'll probably do is buy a brand new expensive car, then GIVE it away a year later. My DH's grandpa is 96. He's not a millionaire, but really well off. Last year he bought a brand new $15,000 ATV. With accessories and maintenance, say $22,000. He just gave it to my DH and said to do anything we want with it. He sold it then bought a "new" used truck. I cringe at some of the purchases his grandpa makes. He was very frugal in his earlier life, but now he doesn't care. He figures he'll be 6 feet under the ground soon, so he likes to splurge. I say good for him!!!

"While in line at Publix, another lottery player was kind enough to let me go ahead of them in line to purchase the winning quick-pick ticket," Mackenzie said."

Ouch. If that person was actually there to buy a quick-pick ticket...

From what I read, the numbers for the quick picks change by the mila-second. Just a fraction of a second later, the numbers would have been different. It works just like a slot machine.

If you leave a slot machine and another person immediately wins the jackpot, it really means nothing. You would have had to hit the button at exactly the same moment to get the same results.

Hope that makes the person who switched places in line with the woman feel better.

Yeah, when I mentioned it to DH he started to wonder if it was based on time. That, of course, makes perfect sense. I just never play the lotto, so didn't even think about it. :upsidedow

Anyway, that's pretty awesome for her. :cool1:
