$59 OW fares out of NY/NJ

For those of you flying from NY/NJ check out Song (LGA, JFK), Jetblue (JFK,EWR), and Continental (EWR). They seem to be having a price war.

I purchased four $59 OW ($67.70 incl taxes/fees) tickets on Jetblue out of JFK for 10/2/05 last night. Total $270.80.

I held off on the return trip because DH was leaving earlier so we were still trying to finalize the schedule. For 10/14/05, I had picked a $69 OW fare on Song into LGA for me and the 2 kids over the $59 OW on Continental into EWR because of the convenience of LGA (for me) and the TVs (great help since I would be travelling alone w/2 kids). We had picked a $59 OW on CO into EWR on 10/9/05 for DH because of the times over JB (the later flight was $59 but had gone up in price last night)

Well, when I checked today, the fares on the Song flight I wanted had gone down from $69 to $59. So, total for 3 tickets incl taxes/fees was $203.10.

The lastest flight on JetBlue into EWR (it was $$$$ into JFK) dropped back down to $59. So, we purchased that instead of the Continental flight for the same amount. Total was $67.70.

So, grand total for 4 people RT to MCO was $541.60! $135.40/pp.

Yippee! It pays to wait sometimes! Now if only the fares for Prez Week would drop - it's over $400 (non-stop) right now.

So, check the fares if you are traveling from my neck of the woods. Hope this helps someone.

Congratulations! I love hearing things like this. I hope this inspires some people not to panic when fares are high, especially with Song. If you check their website daily, you'll probably get a nice surprise...that the fares have dramatically gone down, even if the web special only lasts for a day.
