Should I give it one more try?

I've been there twice in 10 years and have not been super impressed. The food was fine, but I really went for the atmosphere. I just didn't feel like it lived it up to its reputation.

Part of me wonders if that isn't because of my FIL. He's an awesome guy, but he doesn't hear well and so maybe he appears "unamused"? Maybe he intimidates the CM so that they don't "play" with our family all that much?

What do you think? Try it again? My MIL loves that place...

BTW - MIL/FIL are going with us again.

We've given up on it and moved our must-do ressies on our MGM days to the Brown Derby. The atmosphere at PTC is just soooo totally hit or miss. And it really blows to have the waiter or waitress who doesn't get into the acting AT ALL and then see a table close by with a waiter/waitress who's totally having fun with their tables and getting into character.

My advice would be to skip it if you're looking for that crazy fun atmosphere and server. If you're going only for the food, then keep it.

I tried it twice and that will be it, the last time I was in a corner and the watress had a personallity like a wet rag plus I don't think the food is that great

We have not been to the 50s PTC in over 10 years, so we are giving a try for lunch as well. I usually give restaurants a couple of chances and if they are bad, I do not bother going back. I am looking forward to some fun at lunch!

I have been to Prime Time Cafe a few times for lunch and dinner and each time I thought the food was very good and it always has a great atmosphere.

I pretty much will only eat at the bar now (the bartenders are great). I really miss the fried cheese.

Heard a rumor that the servers were told to tone down because of complaints from guests who were sensitive about the interaction, but I don't know if that's true or not.

I really enjoyed 50's Prime time when we went in Nov 2009. However, my daughter was a little embarrassed when the waitress asked her to stand up in front of two other tables and be part of a joke. She was a great sport though. We had two waitresses because shift change occured in the middle of our meal. Both really interacted with us and two tables that were beside us. I got a kick out of the decor, the waitresses banter, and I liked the pot pie and sundaes very much. I thought the food was a nice change from some of the other restaurants we had been to this week. The weather was beautiful that day and we were seated in the part of the restaurant meant to be a sun room or closed in back porch. You could tell the family sitting beside us had been there before because they were intentionally doing things that made the waitresses interact with them. I took vegatables off my daughters plate and put them on my plate so she could be a member of the clean plate club. It was not my daughters favorite meal. That of course went to crystal palace and chef mickey's. I have to say, eventhough, i may have enjoyed CP and CRT more than 50's PTC, I actually enjoyed it more than jiko and boma. Guess i don't care for the way the food was flavored at either of these. Thats not to say that i didn't enjoy AKL - I loved loved loved it there. Wish I was there now looking out over the savannah.

I'm with TDC Nala - we only eat at the bar now. David (usually works on the left side) is spectacular, friendly and provides EXCELLENT service. Although at the bar, there is no "show" - only good comfort food.

Well I have herad about some people not getting a very "participating" server. All I can tell you is that we went recently and our large group got two fantastic servers. ( I was put in the corner for tattling on my brother... I was trying to get HIM in trouble... I'm 36 ... :P )

We went and DGD and DGS were a little worried the waitresses might be too harsh. They weren't at all. My brother (50) was called skippy the whole meal and was told repeatedly to get his elbows off the table. Finally waitress drew a huge line with ketchup on rim of table because their great uncle didn't follow directions. My grandkids thought this was hilarious!!!

I would say skip it!!! I have never enjoyed the food there, the waitresses have been great, but I just think the food is YUCK!!! .

Out of all my ADRs this would probably be the one I wouldn’t do again. Food was ok and wait staff was great and in character but food was only ok.

This spot has one of my favorite Disney dishes; the vegetarian stuffed pepper. I now order it at the bar....no ADR needed, and my daughter (who usually gets CS nuggets right before) gets an amazing make-it-yourself Sundae for 1.99. Can't beat that!

We just returned from our vacation and we celebrated my daughters 14th birthday at the Prime Time. The food was very good and the waitress was AWESOME. We had SO much fun, it will be on our MUST DO list for our next trip.

Oh, and the Peanutbutter & Jelly milkshake TRULY lived up to it's reputation. AWESOME!

I kinda hope that rumor was wrong. The whole charm of PTC is supposed to be the atmosphere. I can eat meatloaf at home... :)

PT50's has changed over the years. Now it is a "hit or miss" with a FUN CM, and the food has gone downhill. Won't go back again. last time our CM was a wet rag, while other CM's were having so much fun w. their guests.

Menu has changed, portions are small, and quality is poor. Brown Derby is where we now go.

Oh please don't tell me that, main reason we are going there this vacation is we liked the food, the entertainment by the CM was secondary and last time I was at Brown Derby I was very disappointed with the food portions for the price charged. Not one of our party DH, and DS and friend both 18yrs old with harty appetites were satisfied :sad1:

I am sorry to post that....but it's true.

They have reduced the menu selections, and most of the CM's are not as funny as they used to be. The food is not as good as it was....perhaps the free dining plan is the cause. PT50's and others now have very limited menus, so they make large quantities of the same meals.

Unforunately, we will not return....this was a FAV.

I am sorry you did not enjoy the BD.

Ate there 2 weeks ago.... and LOVED it.... we didnt' get a LOT of interaction with the staff BUT we were a last minute ressie so I didn't expect that...however...the POT ROAST was AWESOME!

THe meal was tastier than our Hollywood Brown Derby meal....

I was really NOT impressed with the HBD F! Dining meal that we had....I might try HBD ONE more time IF I need to with the Imagineer's lunch,....but I will NOT try it again without....

It just was not that special....

Hugs,
Mary

My son and I love the steak at PT cafe..... one of our favourite meals. I gave up my MM F! dining package to go to PT again on our DHS day. We have had one wonderful waitress and one not overly fun waitress. I think this trip I will ask up front when I am checking in to be placed in a FUN section. I hope we enjoy our meal here and don't regret the change in dining plans!
