It's been a few years since our last visit to 50's Prime Time Cafe so it was time to return...

I must start by saying the place is "timeless"...you walk in and it seems like nothing has changed over the years (except the menu). As most of you know they have gone to an all day menu now.

Interestingly enough when we checked in for our 2:00 ADR there was no one else waiting...but the Tune In Lounge bar was full (I've read on these boards how hard it is to get a seat here LOL, so true)...

We took some photos of the waiting area and within that minute or so we were shown to our table.

Cousin Jason waited on us and he was fun, not obnoxiously so (at all), but he was into his "role" and let us know all of the rules.;) The parties seated on both sides enjoyed him as well.

As far as the food...after reading reviews here over the past several months I took the advice of some of the posters and tried some different things.

We skipped the milkshakes (I went with the margarita instead ;)) because we were going to go to SR after-if only we realized they close at 3:00...oooops, anyway...

We started off with the Beer Battered Onion Rings and they didn't disappoint. My dd said they were the best Onion Rings she's ever had.:thumbsup2 Perfectly crispy, not at all greasy and just the right amount of spice they were a treat! And the presentation what fun! Love that fry basket!:goodvibes

DD who is 14 orders from the kid's menu most of the time while we are in WDW. This time however she was hungry but she wanted chicken nuggets. Lucky for her Cousin Jason told her there is an "adult" sized portion with 10 chicken nuggets.:thumbsup2 So worked nicely for her (fyi: the kid's portion is 5).

I wasn't sure what I wanted but having read lots of reviews about the Blue Plate Special I figured I'd find out what it was and on this day it was fresh grilled Mahi Mahi with mango salsa and veggies and since I had a sweet beverage along with the onion rings I thought I'd behave a bit and go with that. It sounded good and I like Mahi so that worked for me.

And it was good, it was tender and juicy. It had nice flavor, a little spice to it which I like (I usually like my Mahi blackened) but his had some nice cajun spices without being overpowering. The salsa was a nice compliment to it. The veggies were different, seemed a little "gourmet" for Prime Time but they were ok. They consisted of broccolini and coconut infused mashed sweet potatoes. Cousin Jason didn't realize these were the veggies as he told me asparagus and mashed potatoes...but I let him slide because they worked out ok.;)

All in all this was a nice meal with "fun" built in. The antics were not bad at all as our server was more "low key" although he did make one of the guys in a party seated next to us feed a young lady there some of her veggies because she didn't finish them, but it wasn't over the top.

Feel free to check out my full review with more descriptions of the restaurant, more photos of the restaurant as well as more food photos from a friend of mine who was there a few weeks ago as well.
