503 Temporarily Unavailable

I've been getting this error message all day for at least half of the posts here. Posts I commented on earlier today are always available, but most of the rest, I get the "server is busy" message. It's 1:00 AM Eastern, how busy could the server be??? Is it just me?

No, it's a common error here, not just you. Usually it just takes a computer reboot and you're fine. Or a different browser. I would just reboot and usually that clears it up.

I haven't had that particular problem on here. The only issue I run into sometimes is when the boards run so SLOWLY that it takes forever to navigate from one page to another. Not all the time, just occasionally.

When I get that I reboot my computer and clean my cookies. Usually takes care of it. I did switch browsers as well from IE to Firefox and that seems to be better as well.

I just hit the back button and "re-post". I get the "duplicate post" message and move on. There is a lightspeed (or something like that) too-same thing, back button, repost.

If you clear the cookies in your browser this goes away. It happened to me several weeks ago.

Thanks, I didn't even think to reboot or clear my cookies. The funny part is after I posted the thread I couldn't get back into it!

The "server is busy" message doesn't mean that the server is being used by a lot of end users. A lot of automated jobs like backups, stored database procedures for clean up or compression, and reporting is done in the middle of the night because the user traffic is down. Many of these jobs are resource hungry and can cause 503 errors even though the traffic to the server is low.
