I've been watching the DIS home page for a while, patiently waiting for the posts to officially exceed 50,000,000. ("Officially", because there are more posts than show up in the number on the homepage.)

At this point, the boards are 25,000 posts shy of 50,000,000.

Since September 1, 2014, the average number of posts per day is 5908. (The average posts per day since Jan. 5 is 7200, but that's not been a sustainable number since the summer began.)

5908 posts per day is still quite impressive (though the day in Jan. when there were -1293 posts remains my favorite.) The opening weekend for 7 Dwarves Mine Train tent-poled the posts at almost 11,000 for the first Friday and Saturday in May but July 19, 2014, was the single day winner with 11,702 posts, I have no idea why. (There may have been others, but I missed observations the day before so I can't be certain of them.) And not surprisingly, I guess, posts lagged somewhat the weekend the iPhone 6 arrived.

So, absent another tent pole, I'm forecasting reaching 50,000,000 posts sometime between the evening of 10/14/14 and the morning of October 15, 2014. I tend to think we won't average 5908 posts per day from now until then so my guess is we reach 50,000,000 around mid-morning of the 15th.

All times are Eastern.

Wow - 50 Million Posts! That's amazing.

:disrocks:

That really is amazing. Can you project out when the 100 million mark will take place?

Very cool! I never noticed that particular statistic on the home page. :) Will be watching with interest!

November 8, 2033, at 6:38 pm. Using the currently yearly average. ;)

It was a slow weekend (they usually are). I didn't record the numbers Saturday at midnight (11:59 pm, technically) as my computer was otherwise preoccupied. (It is set to open the DIS home page at that time so I can record the readings when I wake up.)

It looks like we are projecting October 15, 2014, at 1:39 pm eastern. Today being a federal holiday, it might be a little slow. I tend to think that people post to the DIS a lot during work because weekdays seem to be more active than weekends. This is a rule, especially when a new attraction opens.

I suspect think the decrease in posts over the year reflects 2 things. The first half the year is busier because people are planning their summer vacation to Disney. Plus, this year, there was a frenzy over trying to figure out FP+. As people have seen it is not the end of the world, not yet at any rate, they have less need to post on the DIS.

Posts from yesterday were a good bit above the recent average at 6817. Still on track for tomorrow (10/15/14) mid morning. Current time is shown as 9:36 am but that could still vary a good bit.

Thanks for the update Jack! :coffee:

Jack, are you trying to be the 50,000,000th one? :rotfl:

I think I have other plans.

But yes, like the idiots who type "first" in the online comments, I want my resume to reflect that I typed a post that reads "50,000,000."

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

According to the numbers, it should have happened by now (6:43 am). But the numbers assume uniformity in posts and people don't post uniformly. Expect it to pick up shortly as people get to work and get bored.

How about now?

Thanks. 10:33 am eastern.

And to think, 1.5 percent of the posts are from Robo.
