5 yr old child bitten by rabid skunk -

This is on the news right now and it is not far from where I live. Oh my. The poor little boy was attacked by the skunk and is now undergoing the series of shots.

My DH was chased by a skunk in this area while jogging. So far this year there have been 29 cases of rabies in our county.

main thing is to teach the kids even if they see a kitten or a puppy do not touch the animal.......a kitten jumped up and got a young girl from Portland maine last summer and the kittens were all rabid.....a dog attacked my grandson a year ago and we were very fortunate that they found the dog and the owner......the animal eventually had to be destroyed ......he had attacked five people in four months.....a lady not far from my house was also attacked by another pitbull and had to have the series of rabies shots......it is a very scarey situation

We won't even take skunks into our wild animal rehab as they are the #1 carrier of rabies around here... Poor little boy!

I'm sorry, I have to say this:

THAT STINKS!

Seriously though...it had to be scary for her. I have a four year old myself and I know if she saw a skunk she'd be like, "Pretty Flower"

I didn't know that skunks were such a menace in your part of the country.
