My 5 year old niece will be visiting the Parks this year for my Wedding in August. She is Legally Blind with Morning Glory Syndrome. I tried my best to learn about her disability-she has a problem with her optic nerves and has extremely poor vision. She wears a patch for a portion of the day in order to try to save the vision she has. Is there anything that I can do for her so that she might be able to enjoy the shows & attractions? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

I love learning new things and this is very interesting. The patch is because the person has one good eye and thus uses that eye too much.

A discussion among persons with Morning Glory Syndrome.

What can you do for a child with limited vision?
Besides the rides there are lots of things that use the other senses like food, shows, and music. Disney parks are full of nonvisual things.

You can get a GAC so that at shows she will sit near the front of the theater. You could use the GAC to get front row seating in the disabled area of parades but it is better to camp out on a curb and let her sit in daddy's lap or let her stand near her family and she will probably be elated over what little she can see.

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Initially I would suggest looking at Post #6 and Post #3.

Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

besides what was already posted, in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread, there is a link to a past thread about hints for a 4 yr old with a visual disability. That thread should be helpful for you.

Thank you so much for your help guys, I'll check out the FAQ thread.

Thank you so much!:flower3:
