Passing on some information I read in Reader's Digest. For you guys who are watching your grocery bill (and who isn't) here are some items that are getting ready to have big price breaks on.
1) BUTTER. The price hovers around $4 a lb for most of the year but will drop 50% to 1.99 during the holidays. Butter freezes great also so you can stock up.
2) SUGAR Look for this pantry staple to take a $1 to $2 price dip with brown sugar and powdered sugar taking the largest dip.
3) BACON Another great item to stock up and freeze. Predicted to take a $1.50-2.00 dip. This one I thought was interesting because a lot of pundits are saying meat prices are due to raise due to the drought. Not sure what type of feed pigs get but maybe the drought didn't affect that.
4) OIL Look for ridiculously great deals on oil at both the grocery and hardware stores, where it's sold for turkey deep fryers. A gallon which normally sells for $35 bucks is said to drop to $20.
5) Birthday Cake mixes Usually drops 50% during the holidays.
Happy grocery shopping.
Sorry I didn't look up a link, I still get RD the old fashion way.
