I know it's hard to guess if prices will change but a bit of advice would still be appreciated. I think prices for my flights are currently at what I'd say is the top end as I'm going "off peak", I'll pay the prices if they don't go down but I'm more worried about them going up more!!!

I don't post all too much but I have posted a while ago on this forum about our plans to go to Canada and Florida in October.
We had to put plans on hold due to changes at work that affect my job.
Although things are still a little uncertain we've decided to still go away but to Florida only.
We've always booked flights 9 or 10 months in advance and got direct prices that I was happy with, I'm looking now for 28th Sept to return any time between 14th and 18th Oct. (Manchester)

I like to fly direct as I'm such a nervous flyer - I'd have wanted to pay about £550 pp but it's been £680/670 for a while.
Indirect is always an option (currently about £550) but I also resent having to arrive very late and leave first thing as you lose the first and last day of your holiday completely.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks - Laura :earsgirl:

I'm not sure that really is all that off peak for the British market as that is the Scottish school holidays and a lot of scots fly from Manchester. You are so close to your dates now I wouldn't expect prices to go down much. My experience of October is that flights get fully booked a fair few months before October

I can't offer much in they way of advice (other than try the consolidators ebookers, travelocity etc.) for this trip, but my advice would be always book in the sale period. We booked PE in October with BA for around £680 each during the BA sale.

If you're going indirect because of the price, avoid a connection in Chicago if you can.

Virgin usually in the past have included September in their sales. I would hold fire a bit longer yet.

Last time we went in September was 2011 and I know I booked flights in the summer in a sale.

Thank for your replies, I checked England school holiday dates but didn't think to check other countries!

I've checked average non-direct costs for the next 8 months on kayak and it always seems to be around £550 outside of the summer hols so I think I'll be ok to wait until much nearer the time to get indirect at that price.

Fingers crossed for sale tickets though, is the VA summer sale usually in August?

Thanks again

I'm *think* they usually have a sale during one of the upcoming Bank Holiday's in May, but I can't remember which one.

So one at Xmas/New Year, one in May-ish and then one around August Bank Holiday. Note that when they do have a sale, BA will too (though I know you don't want to connect via London so maybe not an option).
