5 in a FW Cabin

We are planning a family trip for next year for 14 people. I have 5 in our camper (very experienced and it works well), 3 adults and 1 baby in one cabin and 5 people - a Mom and 4 adult daughters in another cabin. Has anyone ever stayed in a cabin with 5 adults? I am worried that it will be overly crowded in that cabin. Thanks!

Especially now with all these stay-at-home, shelter in place orders. Could be the scene of a new reality show: family squabbles gone wrong. Maybe a new venue is in order, say the wide open spaces of a “dude” ranch camping under the stars...

We have done 4 adults to a cabin, my parents, sister and I. We were fine in space terms, especially since we tended to use the deck to spread out.

The biggest issue we had was timing bathroom access. It was usually fine in the mornings, because we tended to naturally stagger waking up, but sometimes there were issues still during the day or evening. I know that today we would have a lot of issues sharing one bathroom.

We have done 6 adults in a cabin, (DW, myself, mom, oldest adult DS and his DW, and youngest adult DS in a cabin. It is doable. DS1 and DDiL said the couch bed was not very comfortable.

The big issue though is one bathroom. A lot will depend on how close you are to a comfort station and where the mom and 4 adult daughters fall on the "I'm at Disney so I need full hair and makeup" / "I'm at Disney so it's a hat and no makeup" scale.

This is bringing back great memories of our family of 6 staying in a cabin a few times (they were trailers back then). We were all boys who ranged from 9 to 16 years old during the last trip. The bathroom was the biggest issue, but the outdoor space made it quite livable there.

The 1 bathroom is the biggest issue. For showers the 4 adult women could use a comfort station in a camping loop (not the tent loops) while Mom uses the cabin bathroom and all be ready at the same time.

I would also worry about sleeping arrangements. You have the bunk bed, which is 2, and then the double bed in the bedroom (i would not sleep 2 on it unless your people are smaller) and then the pull out in the living room.

My DH and I stayed in the cabins in Jan. We did not use the pull out. He slept on the double bed and i slept on the bottom bunk. Neither one of us is Pooh sized, but we are tall people. I am 5'9" and just fit in the bunk. My DH is 6'2" he was not fitting in the bunk.

I know you said all women so hopefully not 6'2" but there are women that tall.

We did 5 in a cabin a few years back. My DMom, DDad, 2 DBrothers and me. All adults. I got the top bunk. Parents in the bed, one brother bottom bunk & one brother in the living room. When we were growing up we had 6 in our house (one brother was missing for this trip) and we only ever had one bathroom. So it worked for us, we were used to it. And DMom and I are miinimal hair/makeup people. Just enough makeup so photos look nice and hair in a ponytail is my style! But it did work, and having breakfasts together in the cabin every morning was priceless. Good family times!

We stayed 6 in the cabin. It worked well, just wish there was an extra bathroom! We really enjoyed it.

When comparing to other rooms at Disney resorts, we find it works well. We travel with 2 adults and 3 or 4 kids consistently and have also stayed at the AOA suites. And they are fine. I like the cabins better. My kids are tweens and teens, and would rather be at the Fort. We have stayed at deluxe resorts also where you might have a 2nd bath, but only for special occasions due to cost. Having one bath is the only issue compared to other places. In other places, you might have a bathroom and a separate wash area but we have managed that without issues.

The amenities and space are ample otherwise. We are rarely in the cabins other than for a quick bite and to sleep. We love the cabins best. Our biggest issue is sharing time with the golf cart. DW might take it to the pool, and not come back for a while. The bus transportation does not bother me though. I also believe the golf cart is essential to getting a cabin.

I see a lot of the responses have been the only negative to the cabins is the one bathroom. I haven't stayed in a cabin, but I have stayed in a camper multiple times at Ft. Wilderness. The comfort stations are top notch. They are spotless and air conditioned. I am not sure how anyone feels about using one for their shower, but I am not an avid camper, and I didn't mind using them at all. I believe there is one by the quiet pool in the cabins area. Might be an option if we ever get back to not being quarantined...

It's not too bad. I did it in Feb 2019 - a family of dad, two adult (early 30's) daughters, one 13 year old and me. I'm essentially "uncle" to the girls. Four nights

Yep. The created some issues. AND the hot water heater is small. Person number 4 is kinda outta luck. So we had to work out a schedule.

The comfort stations are top notch. They are spotless and air conditioned. I am not sure how anyone feels about using one for their shower, but I am not an avid camper, and I didn't mind using them at all.

We were fairly close to one of the pools with a comfort station. I didn't mind heading over in the evening for a shower. It DID relieve some of the pressure.

But sleeping arrangements were fine, having a full kitchen was great and having that patio was wonderful. Plenty of space for all of us.

The camping comfort stations are absolutely top notch. But the cabin loops don't have comfort stations. Only at the pool. With that being said, the bathroom situation in the cabin is not much different than in other comparable resort rooms unless you start comparing it to Deluxe resort accommodations. Cabins have a lot of the Deluxe resort accommodations without the price. It has a small bathroom, but was very manageable in our situation. Figure a golf cart into the accommodation. IMHO.

I agree having a golf cart is a big plus! I don't mind taking the buses to the parks, but I don't like having to take an internal bus to get to the pool, gift shops, park buses, or ferry to MK.

It's not my first choice for sleeping. I'll take the bed. But they are no different from most pullouts at any resort on the property.

I would absolutely love to stay in a FW cabin, but the single bathroom is an absolutely deal breaker, unless it was to be just 2 of us. That is one of our main reasons for going offsite to vacation rentals where we get 1 bathroom per bedroom. Even my DD and I shared a condo on our two mother/daughter trips. Separate bedrooms and bathrooms let us enjoy plenty of together AND privacy, at under $100/night.

We have. One trip had 5 adults, a toddler, and infant. No issues, just the one bathroom like others said. But we have a 'no pooping in the trailer' rule. Have the same rule when we camp in our own trailer, so it's off to the comfort station. But it was nice to be able to make meals in the cabin.

We stayed with 5 in a cabin just last summer. 4 of the 5 are over 6 feet tall and we didn’t have any trouble with sleeping arrangements.

They did upgrade the main bed from full to queen recently which does help.

It hasn’t been mentioned yet, but the very best feature of the cabin is being able to park right outside the door.
