5 Days, 4 Parks, 3 DIS-meets, 2 ADR’s, and 1 Solo DISer! Done! Finished! Completed!!

I know, I know. Neither of the kids will nap during the day (Danica might take a half hour snooze here and there) so I have no time to post. I don't even have time to read :sad1: I'll try to get Halloween pictures up by Christmas!

Hope everyone is doing well!

no worries...just wanted you to know I was thinking of you...:goodvibes

By some miracle both kids have been sleeping for the last hour.....

OK let me see if I can remember where in this story I am. Ahhhh yes….MNSSHP, just finished trick or treating down the not so secret path to Tomorrowland.
Here are the highlights:

I remember I had been wearing flip flops at the party to this point because I had already developed blisters by day 2 and I was wearing the flip flops to “air out” my feet for a bit. I changed into sneakers on a bench and organized my stuff. My blisters were no where near as bad as LL during her May in the Rain trip….(LL I thought of you every time I “doctored” my feet). And by day 4 I figured out that if I just taped my feet (with medical tape sort of like a dancer would) I didn’t get anymore blistered.

I was heading to the hub area to watch HalloWishes and get a Diet Coke and a bucket of popcorn when I spotted them. Who you ask? The TK clan! It’s amazing how you can recognize someone you have NEVER seen a picture of when they are standing next to a guy that looks just like Capt Jack Sparrow. Friends, when TK says that her DH looks like the real Capt Jack she is not telling tall tales…and I can now say that he has a bit of Capt. Jack’s humor as well since I have seen all 3 Pirate movies since my trip. I got my popcorn and then went over to introduce myself. But I’m going to let TK tell that story since she writes better then I do so it will be funnier this way.

After watching HalloWishes (which I have no pictures of because I decided to actually enjoy the show not photograph it) me and the TK clan headed for POTC to meet up with more DISers (Jen, Paula and Christine) for a ride all together. It was interesting to walk over with the group because it re-enforced how different touring is in the Parks when you are solo vs. a family.

I only really remember 2 things from our POTC meet…talking about mashed potatoes with Christine and TK’s DH making the other ladies scream during the ride (which I’ll let TK tell the story on her TR when she gets to that day).

After that we split up. I headed to Frointerland to grab a spot for the 2nd parade and had my very first experience with <insert not nice word here> woman about standing in front of me. It went something like this: about 5 minutes before the start of the parade a woman came up to me after just arriving at the spot…

Her: Do you want to move up to the curb?
Me: No, all these people sitting down have been waiting a long time and if I move up they won’t be able to see.
She then walks up to the curb and stands there.
Me: Ah hello! Now you are standing in front of me and I can’t see.
Her: Well I asked you if you wanted to move up.
Me: And I told you that all these people have been waiting in their spots for a long time and I’m not going to block their view.
Her: Well I’ve been waiting a long time too.

I didn’t say anything….I think the look on my face said it all and she moved behind me. She wasn’t there long because I think her friend was embarrassed and suggested a new location.

That had to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard --“I’ve been waiting a long time too” after she strolls up 5 minutes before parade time.

Here are your crappy pictures for tonight!

After the parade I continued on my tour…I could tell you where I went if my notes were in front of me but there are not so I just end Day 2 with pictures taken from the TTA that night.

When I find my notes and organize more photos I'll be able to give you Day 3 (thank god this was only a 5 day trip!)

Thank you so much for posting, hon! I am selfishly glad I was part of this update, because really you've brought out some of my favorite memories from my trip. I loved meeting you, and sharing Hallowishes with you. It was truly a special moment.

And I'd totally forgotten about what my DH did on that ride. That'll be a tale to tell. :lmao:

Love your photos of Hallowishes. It's too bad that woman was so rude. Why is it people feel the need to block others and think nothing of it? Ughhh so irritating!

I love the parade pictures! We were at the MVMCP this past weekend, and had a very similar thing happen with a rude lady at the parade. :sad2:

Well, so far this TR is practically perfect in every way!!

Hehe

Seriously, though, I just moseyed on over here and wow - I just sat for an hour and scrolled through this puppy. I am now insanely jealous and craving a solo trip! I have never had the smallest desire to travel alone, but now I am seeing how wonderful it could be. Your pictures and the little details you are seeing are fabulous. I guess you can take in so much more when you aren't worrying about where your children are, if they are in someone's way, if they're dripping ice cream on their shirt, what they want to ride next, yada yada yada. During trips with my pom squad I have had solo hours here and there, but mainly I am watching the clock until the girls have to check in with my next time, or I am going over formations in my head and worrying about compeition, etc. To be able to just breathe and relax... Wow, girl. You are one lucky girl.

Because I have been scrolling through to just your posts I don't know how much recognition your DH is getting, but can I just give him a big shout out? How fabulous of him to support you in this and understand why you wanted to. I don't think my DH would get it, and he would so jealous that I got a trip and he didn't he'd probably make me fel guilty. Your fella is a keeper for sure.

GREAT update, Heidi!!

Thanks for all your pix. Ummmm.. they weren't crappy! They were wonderful!

I love your stories about the TK Clan and the Meet. I'm so jealous you got to "do" Pirates with everyone. :goodvibes

Are people just that stupid- I guess so...

:confused3:sad2:

Oh how fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the pictures but am sorry about the rude woman! Glad she moved, so often people like that dig their heels in and stay.

I can't wait to hear what TK's DH did.

Mashed potatoes?

Heidi,

love the update and your carpy pictures...;) did they toss candy from those huge candy bags or was that all show...

DH and I are now really thinking of going in the fall of 2011 for our 15 anni trip...alone, food and wine (even though I'm not much of a drinker) and halloween....

sounds like a plan :thumbsup2

I will have to introduce myself to TK and read the rest of story...

looking forward to more of your solo-adventures

J~

Great update, Heidi! Now, I am all agog to find out how TK's DH scared the ladies on POTC!

I swear I think people lose all sense of right and wrong before Disney parades. :sad2:

Okay, what exactly was said about mashed potatoes???

Great update Heidi!!!!!! Love your pictures of the parade!!!!! Although I can't believe that lady said that to you....holy moly!!!!!!

And yes you are right TK's hubby does look a lot like the good captain!!!!!

Can't wait for more!

Good for you sticking up for yourself and those people around you. If I had heard you, I would've applauded or bowed down to you or both.

Is it that easy to recognize DIS folks? I hope that's the case in February! I'm glad you were able to meet up with some of them. I hear you on the difference between solo and group touring. It sounds like you enjoyed your solo trip so far.

here here...what Jordan said about sticking up for yourself and others...are some people clueless or is it just plain rudeness...:confused3...

Ahhh...It may be Christmas time but you are giving me a hankering for some Hallowishes...it's great to be codependent (in a good way) and live vicariously through other's Disney moments...;)

Oh blisters. I hate blisters, they are EVIL. I'm glad they were not bad. I did buy some stuff to wrap my feet if it is needed in January. Glad to hear it worked for you! :thumbsup2

Good for you for sticking up for yourself! :yay:

I just love the Halloween parade. The grave diggers are my favorite part. (Other than the song that gets stuck in my head for days!).

I swear the parades bring out the worst in people at Disney. It turns them all into complete rude nuts!

I can't wait to hear more about the meeting with the TK clan. You've got my curiousity up now!
