5 Days, 4 Parks, 3 DIS-meets, 2 ADR’s, and 1 Solo DISer! Done! Finished! Completed!!

So what does the party phone do when it is working?? I'm sure you've probably mentioned it before, but I don't remember... :confused3

What do you do with all your MM ears?

Can I try answering :confused3

Is it the phone that you can pick up and overhear a conversation btwn a Mom and her daughter and then the nosey neighbor who is listening in chimes in on the conversation...

that's what it says in my Hidden Magic book...called a party phone because it is homage to back when early phones in apartments many homes shared the same line.

and I am curious too about your ears collection...please share a picture :thumbsup2

I really made it a point to see HOP since it has been refurbed with President Obama. Normally I see HOP every 10 years or so because I found it to be a snore. OGM. It is so good now. They changed a lot of the show; they didn’t just add the newest President. I highly recommend you see it on your next trip. My one tip would be to not sit too far bad in the theater…I had wished I was closer so I could have seen the details on all the Presidents better. Oh and I had a mini DIS meet of sorts…the lady that sat next to me was a DISer on a solo trip as well. I’ve forgotten her screen name but it had something to do with Maleficent.

Did you know that Disney had to get special permission to use the Presidential seal?

100409120.jpg

I so wanted to buy a couple of these but I was good. Probably because I didn’t see them again for the rest of my trip….otherwise they would have been Christmas presents for the kids.

Total walk on for Jungle cruise.

I wanted to get dinner in before the party started. One of my all time favs is Pecos Bills. Here’s the double cheeseburger basket. I also made myself a little side salad from the fix-ins bar. I love a cheap burger but the buns were horrible (wheat grain Wonderbread buns).

Next up: one of many DIS meets this night…..

I have never noticed those things in the windows in Liberty Square!! What great details photos Heidi!!!!

I loved HOP too...it was such a great show and I loved being able to see it!!!!

OOH....DIS meets can't wait to hear all about it!!!!!! :rolleyes1

I can't wait for HOP too... I think Alex will love it. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the updates.

I love how you catch details in your pictures that I never have time to notice... like those shots of the windows. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about the party!

Fun update. Once again you captured many details I've never noticed. Now I have to go back! I am so bummed I didn't make it to HOP this past trip. Definitely on the list for next time. I'm curious - not trying to incite any riot- but what is your opinion on the likeness of Obama? Do you think it looks like him?

Love those Christmas plush! Too cute! I want one!!!!

Oh, and hate the wheat buns too. Goodness, I'm having a cheeseburger and fries...what would give anyone the impression I'm interested in being healthy?!

Hope you don't mind me chiming in here. I saw the HoP and was pretty blown away by the new show. The imagineers did a great job with President Obama. They caught many mannerisms and facial inflections. I sat pretty close to the front and had my mouth hanging open at the realism. Once again they did a great job.

Hi
Don't know if I've posted on your TR yet, but I've read the whole thing.
Love your pictures you do a great job of taking artistic shots and not the usual tourist shot.

I know who two of the people on the Mian St windows are.
Dick Nunis is the former chairman of Walt Disney World attractions.
Ron Miller was Walt's son in law and former President and CEO of the
Walt Disney Comapny. I can't read the third name on the window.

Can't wait to see your MNSSHP pictures.

Thanks. I zoomed in on the picture and the 3rd name is O. Ferrante (Masseur). Any idea who that is??

Beautiful pictures!!!!!!!
Thank you!

Thanks for the pictures! I love MK all dressed up for Fall!!!

Denise
Main St does look nice in fall colors. Someday maybe I'll see it dressed for Christmas.

Heidi,

I love all the pictures :thumbsup2 the orange and yello banners and all the pumpkins are so fun to see! I just read about Triple P's lunch at the Plaza on her TR....;)

I want to try out the party phone too...I told Aldine all about that, I hope it works sometime when we are there.

Scrappie-Do
I would think that they would fix it. Might be one of those things that goes unreported to Maintence for awhile.

What do you do with all your MM ears?
Nothing yet. Once my new basement playroom is finished then I will display them there.

Thanks TV Star Julie <wink wink>

I don't even know where all the ears are right now. My house has been in construction for over a year now :sad2:

I cannot wait to see the new refurbed HOP this summer especially since you gave it such a great review! :thumbsup2

You might need to have a tissue at the ready.....I might have gotten a bit misty a couple of times.

Liam is buggin' out....more replies later.....

Are all the burgers using these buns? I rarely get a hamburger at WDW so I'm not aware of the bun situation....

HOP one of my favorite attractions.

Nice update! Liberty Square is my favorite land in all of MK. Definitely want to spend some time finding the same little details you did- the gun, the lanterns, etc....

Pecos is my favorite CS place too. But why, oh why, can't Disney just pony up with better buns? Of all things, they cheapest thing on the plate, and they can't spend 2 extra cents upgrading to something better than sawdust shavings melded together with corn syrup. GAG!

I am really looking forward to catching the HoP next time to check out the newest upgrades. We sat too far back last time, so didn't catch a lot of the details.

I love all the pics. I can't wait to see HOP on my next trip. I've missed it the past few trips due to lack of time, but I want to make a point of visiting this year to see Obama and all the changes.

Can't wait to hear about the Dis meets!

a new nickname ;)

speaking of my other nickname...we were on acouples only weekend in MI this weekend past and were playing this get to know you kind of question game, and what question was, what Nickname to you have or wish you had?

and I wrote down Scrappie-Do...:goodvibes I tried explaining the whole misinterpreted mouseScrapper name....but I guess my non Disney "freak" friends just didn't get the laughter

I too can't wait to see the new HOP....

DH and I were chatting about our anni trip during the car ride up and I was telling him about your TR and the food fest at Epcot...now DH thinks he wants to go during this time of the year instead of early spring. I'd love the crossover for MNSSHP too....

what were your dates again? Oct _ to _?

TIA,

TV Star Julie hehehe

I swear, I took that same balloon picture in your second to last installment. :lmao:

Thanks for taking those shots in Liberty Square! You know, I always intend to look for those little details, and I totally forget. Again, selling me on the idea of a solo trip. All the time to stop and admire the little things. Wonderful! :goodvibes

I agree about the new HOP. It's a must see.

The burger looks yummy! Did the bun fall apart? I've noticed that some of the buns fall apart at Disney. They need a new bread vendor.

I admit I didn't know this one. Had to Google it.
Found this interesting information at MousePlanet:

The Original Dick Nunis Gym
Turkish Baths – Massage Parlor
24 Hour Service
Supervisor Dick Nunis
Night Manager Ron Miller
Masseur O. Ferrante

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These three were known as the “athletic executives,” most likely due to their background playing college and professional football. Miller played end at the University of Southern California (USC) and for the 1956 Los Angeles Rams. Ferrante played guard for USC and for the 1960 Rams and 1961 San Diego Chargers. Nunis was an Academic All-American at USC until breaking his neck in 1952 during his second season on varsity.

Nunis got his start at Disney as a “gofer” for Van Arsdale France, who at the time was developing the original training and orientation program for Disneyland. He took on a variety of jobs at Disneyland over the years, mentored by Walt Disney. He became Director of Park Operations in 1961 and Vice President of Operations in 1968. He became Executive Vice President of Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 1972, and was named President of Walt Disney Attractions in 1980. He was promoted to Chairman of Walt Disney Attractions in 1991. He retired as Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts in 1999, after 44 years with the company, and was named a Disney Legend that year. He also served on The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors from 1981 to 1998 and in a director emeritus role through 2000.

Miller has a window with his wife and children that was described in Part 1 of this series, so I won't talk about him more here, except to mention that there's a little inside joke here: Miller's son Christopher has his own window at Disneyland, with the inscription “Christopher D. Miller – Turkish Baths.”

Orlando Ferrante was Vice President of MAPO for WED/WDI, and oversaw ride and show production & installation for WDW, Tokyo Disneyland and Euro Disneyland.

5 hours if direct...longer if not!

I can't wait to see HOP.

The meat on that burger looks really yummy...I'd like one right now!

I don't know what it is about cheap burgers but I love them too! I used to work in management at a NASCAR speedway and I loved race weekends because I got to eat really cheap burgers that had been in the warming drawers for hours!

I have never noticed those things in the windows in Liberty Square!! What great details photos Heidi!!!!

I loved HOP too...it was such a great show and I loved being able to see it!!!!

OOH....DIS meets can't wait to hear all about it!!!!!! :rolleyes1
You can see a lot of interesting things at Disney if you look up, down and try to open things!

I can't wait for HOP too... I think Alex will love it. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the updates.

I love how you catch details in your pictures that I never have time to notice... like those shots of the windows. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about the party!

There is a really nice Abe Lincoln piece in the show now.

I love the Reindeer Eeyore! I need to get me one of those! So cute.

I'm very lucky that I didn't run across them later in the trip because I started buying things again for the kids before the weekend was finished :rolleyes1

Love the cutie Pooh characters! I'm really looking forward to seeing HOP!

I'm sure you will like it :thumbsup2

Fun update. Once again you captured many details I've never noticed. Now I have to go back! I am so bummed I didn't make it to HOP this past trip. Definitely on the list for next time. I'd rank President Obama's likeness with that of Clinton and George W...close but not 100%. I think it's because they are living persons that we see often.

Please always feel free to chime in! I agree with you about the mannerisms as such....excellent job. There is so much detail into all of the Presidents during that whole part of the show.
