5 day pass credit for annual pass

Is it still possible to once we get there, to turn the 5 days pass into an annual pass? i know you used to be able to, but not sure if thats still a thing. TIA

Magic Keys go on and off sale. We haven't had as much of a problem lately but, in the past couple of years, it became a frenzy. If the MK are available for purchase when you are using your 5 day pass, you can convert it to a MK.

Two things to consider:
1. Disneyland Resort still requires reservations. Magic Key reservations are in a different pool from regular ticket reservations. It depends on when you are visiting (ie. how crowded the parks are). You should probably make your reservations for the five days and convert to the MK on the last day. That way you don't risk not being able to get a MK reservation if you convert earlier.

2. I believe that, regardless of when you convert, your MK will be retroactive to the first day of your five day ticket. Realistically, it only impacts the expiration date of your Key.

Do you know which MK you are considering? I'm not 100% sure but I think there might be an issue if you are trying to convert to a MK which is blocked on the day you are trying to convert. For example, Imagine is blocked on weekends. Maybe someone else knows for sure. If not, when you call Disneyland, one of the options is for MK holders. I would select that option and talk to a cast member.

So just pay attention if your last day is on a weekend. Or know that if you convert before the weekend, you won't be able to get a weekend reservation with Explore.

I am not sure that you wouldn’t be able to convert on your last day to a pass blacked out in that day. While many years ago, I have, more than once, not had a problem converting on the last day of a multipass day to an AP that was blocked for that day. This was all pre-reservations/COVID though.

thats the thing years ago we always did that without issues. It's been a solid 13 yrs since we have been able to go to disneyland tho, and i am so so out of depth as to what is up now as far as new procedures etc. Super grateful for those who do know and willing to share.

If you use the app, there will be an option to upgrade to MK with exact pricing listed. I remember the night of my last day the option remained for at least a few hours past midnight. Don't rely on that to wait though if you are set on buying it. I didn't go through to see if it actually would still allow me.

Others have warned about blackouts and possible reservation issues if you convert before your last day, but one plus to doing it early could be you get parkhopping if you don't already have it on your tickets.

Another plus to converting to an MK at the beginning of your stay are the discounts. This is especially handy if you have any dining reservations or plan on buying a lot of merch. But yes, make sure there are still reservations available as I believe you have to make new reservations (pretty sure that's the case at least, but I don't have first hand experience).

It really depends on what time of year you are going. I wouldn't risk it during fall break or the first/last week of MK block outs. Lately, MK reservations have been pretty open but that can change. You can always check MK availability before you convert. If it looks like it is wide open, do it and book your reservations immediately. Note, with Explore, you can only hold 4 days of reservations.
