It's been a few months since our trip but I am fastly becoming a Disney junkie and wanted to tell ya'll about our trip!
It started with a wild idea in early 2008. What if the girls in our family took a Disney trip. My sister is a certifiable Disney freak. I am a new mother who had not yet seen the light. So my mother
, my sister
(33), me
(31), my niece
(13), and my daughter
(2) decided it was time. We had planned to go when my daughter was 5! So we were 3 years early, whatever.
It started with my sister's compulsive planning...which i quickly realized she needs mental help for. Then she started this daily Disney trivia game, which I won! Everyday I would be at work at 1:00 checking email for the trivia of the day. It was my reason for waking in the morning! We planned and discussed and researched and quizzed and planned some more. To the point that I wondered if this trip could ever live up.
So they left WV and I left WI to meet in Orlando. We stayed off disney propoerty which was probably best. My plane landed at noon on Sunday and my 2yo DD and I finally found them at the baggage claim. We headed straight for Magic Kingdom and the 3:00 parade. WOW!
Day one was overwhelming. After getting up at 4am and flying with a 2 yo I was in a daze, but the look at my baby's face when she tried to take it all in was more than I could take. We saw the parade which was hot and somewhat miserable (Late April). I could do without that. We rode the teacups, Its a small world, the carousel, all the classics.
Day two was DIsney Studios
. We wore matching shirts which was not as dorky as I thought it might be. People everywhere knew we were together. We saw Beauty and Beast (very good), rode Tower of Terror, Rock'n'Roller coaster and DD finally met Mickey Mouse. You will never experience that feeling ever again. She was absolutely star struck! The best part of that day was lunch a the Prime Time cafe...roast beef was to die for. I crave it daily!
Day Three: back to MK...this day got a little squirrely as we were all getting tired and hot. DD, Mom and I left at 3 so that Sister and niece could have some time to themselves to ride all the good stuff. Then we picked them back up later for a trip to DTD. That was great!
Day 4: a day off. shopping and pool time
day 5: My crowning glory....EPCOT! love it love it love it. Quickly went through what i like to refer to as the useless part of Epcot, and rode Soarin and Test track. both very good rides but for me its all about the World Showcase. We had decided to have a treat in each country, which for us meant margaritas, beer, fish and chips, egg rolls, saki, orange slush drinks in france. This really was the best day for me. I highly recommend going without kis once...i've never done it, but i plan to soon.
day 6: lets face it, by day six you are exhausted. we went to animal kingdom. I originally planned to opt out of this day and stay the hotel with my baby. But i went. and will forever live to regret it. it was hot, boring and just no fun for me. it was the day when sister and i butted heads!
the trip was awesome. one of my top 5 experiences in life and i've been around the block a few times.
