$5 A Day Means Disney MY Way! Update: OUR DAY OUT!

Your pictures from the nature reserve are beautiful! We have been so lucky with the weather this summer.

The schools here go back next Tuesday, I can't believe summer is over so soon. Lucky you with weeks more to go!

Your trip is almost here! I imagine you are pretty busy with school right now. My DS is very busy with his senior year, but he is driving now so he can get himself back and forth for his cross country practice.

Just wondering if you know if you are using Magic Bands. I have heard a lot about them, but wasn't sure if SSR was one of the test resorts...

Thanks! We started school again at the beginning of September, and now only weeks to go till the holiday :cool1:

I am so busy adapting to sixth form, but really enjoying it too. I am still incredibly excited about the trip. Senior year is busy, good luck to your DS!

Yes, we are using Magic Bands- they are releasing it to all resorts in November so I am really excited! We have already customised them and made FP+ reservations. I can't wait to use them. (It certainly took enough time for Disney to let us know what was happening!!) :rotfl:

Sorry to be gone for so long, but I have been incredibly busy with school and adjusting to lots of new work and subjects. Only a few weeks until our much anticipated trip! My school was OK reacting to the absence but still will not approve it. William's school was less than pleased, threatening to fine £120 per PARENT, which I am sure is not legal- the limit is £60. :confused3

Getting Things Together

We have ordered Magic Bands and mine is a beautiful pink one! Hopefully they are automatically sent to the resort as it came up with our UK address during the customisation period. :badpc:

We are also planning to visit a state park or two. I hope they are open but am not sure due to the US government shut down. :faint:

More to come!

Boy, I am hoping they aren't closed that long! My DH works for the Federal Government, but he was called back to work after a week. We are just sitting now, listening to the politicians argue. Absolutely ridiculous!!

Do you have any particular parks in mind?

Carol

wow! your wait is almost over... the Government is back up and running... we live right next to Eglin AFB and many of the people here are civilian workers so the shutdown is not good for our economy...
hope everything has been worked out with the schools... they actually fine parents for unexcused absences? They should try that here in the states...

we are 6 weeks away from our date to drive to Clearwater to see Winter Dolphin so I am officially excited;)

if I don't get on here again before you leave, have a safe and wonderful trip... looking forward to details when you get backpixiedust:

Hi all, sorry to be away for so long! I've started a trip report now, so hope you can read along!!

I'm so glad it was somewhat sorted in the end. I am taking government and politics for a level and found it interesting speaking to Americans on our trip! It must have been a relief that your DH was called back so soon- the whole situation sounds horrendous! We ended up going to Wekiwa Springs, which was lovely. The water was freezing but I can now say I have swam in a freshwater spring! The area nearby was a little shocking, nothing like Orlando!

Has everything been sorted out with government and jobs now? I really hope so- it must be so worrying! And yes, the fine is meant to work as a deterrent but isn't very effective. I don't think it's fair to tell parents what they can do to such an extent! You must be so excited- the next six weeks really speed by! I hope you're doing a TR, if so I am excited to hear about your trip! Thank you, our trip was wonderful so now it is a shock to be back home- post holiday blues. :(

Thanks- it was fantastic and I am already having withdrawal symptoms. Back to school tomorrow after arriving home today- I'm not a fan of overnight flights in economy!!

hope you're all having a great time!

Thanks, it's been wonderful!! :)

It has been sorted out for a few months, they still need to argue about it some more. Our two parties have such differing view right now, it is hard for them to get anything done.

Off to read your trip report now! Glad you had a great time.
