5/30/2010-5 Night Disney Wonder Memorial Day Double Dip! Roster-Post 626 on page 42

So has anyone heard about schedule on board yet? Is there going to be an actual formal night??? Or just a "dress up"? Just wanting to start planning on what I need to shop for. We are finally getting clos:cool1::cool1::cool1:. I cant wait, this is our first cruise and we are so excited...paid in full just waiting til next week when I can book our dolphin excursion:rolleyes1:woohoo::yay:

I called Disney Cruise Line and this is the schedule they gave me: Nights 1,2 & 5 are cruise casual, which is nice pants and shirt or skirt/dress for ladies. No shorts or tank tops. Night 3 is Pirate Night and Night 4 is formal night. I don't know if it's truly "formal" or just dress up...I forgot to ask. I can't wait! We got more snow here in Colorado so the beach is sounding really nice right now!

Thanks for the info. Now for a few questions.......

I have never eaten at Palo but am interested in trying the Palo Brunch this cruise but couldn't make ressies on-line. Are they offering the brunch? If so, which day(s)? I see they only have reservations open for dinner but I'm not sure if they are booked for brunch or they are not offering it. So, if they are offering brunch, I guess I have to wait until we board, then head to Wavebands at 1:00 and sign up there? :confused3

My next question is about filling out a medical form........should I fill one out because I am a chemo patient? Really, the only thing I want them to be aware of is my resistance being low and that I would like them to take that into consideration when cleaning my cabin......... esp. if someone staying in my cabin before me had a cough or cold. I know Disney goes out of their way when it comes to cleanliness.........but should I notify them of my condition?

My final question.......do you know where we will be in about 80 days???? :cool1::banana::woohoo::cheer2:

Thanks for the info--so maybe Ill just get like a lil black cocktail dress or something along that line for "formal night". That should be appropriate either way it goes right??? Oh i cant wait!!!!

Hi All - I am new to these boards. My DH, DS5, DS3 and I are taking this cruise following 3 days at the AKL in WDW. This is husband and kids' first cruise with Disney and my second (first was in 2001 EC on Magic). I absolutely loved my first Disney cruise and hope this will be just as magical for my children. Any plans for a meet & greet or fish extenders? I am not a true Disney fanatic, but I love the fish extender idea and have never participated and think it would be fun. Just let me know. Please add me to the roster and I look forward to talking with you folks more as the cruise gets closer.

Tara

tsb2,

Gratz on booking and welcome aboard the meet thread. I'm not sure who can add you to the roster. Hopefully they will get it taken care of soon. This will be my families first cruise, Me(33), DSister(30), and 2 DSons(13&8). As of right now there are not plans made for a meet or FE's, but we've 75 days to figure that out. (OMG 75 DAYS!!!) I look forward to meeting you and your family.

Esh (Elizabeth)

How formal will formal be??? Just wondering what to bring. My husband is not much of a formal guy... are we talking suit and tie or even more formal than that?
Thanks for the help.

HI KSU Cats...I have to say hello since it seems we are both here in Kansas and tonight many of us in Kansas City are sulking at the big loss for the Jayhawks , while it seems your Powercats are still in it to win!! Congrats! I go to KUMed here in KC and it seems we will be joining you on this cruise...can't wait..so sick of this snow so close to April.

BTW I have cruised with two formal nights on the Magic and I have seen everything from a suit and tie to full tuxedo on the formal nights. I think the hubby will be fine with a suit.

Take care,
Tara

I suggest purple! :)

Seriously though, you see all kinds. Some in Tuxes and some not dressy enough. The last time we were on a DCL cruise I wore a sports coat and felt comfortable.

So that makes 3 KS groups on this trip? Sorry about your Hawks. I picked them in my bracket too. Being from Wichita we'd seen how good UNI was but I never thought they'd give KU a game. We are also tired of this never ending winter.

Hi all!! We are getting very excited around here. We had a nice weekend with weather in the 70s - we are in South Georgia. Did some yard work and then took a nap in a hammock dreaming about Castaway Cay.

It has been a little difficult trying to plan for 10 people with ages ranging from 2 to 65 but I'm sure it will all come together. It's just tough satisfying everybody. Any advice would be great!!

Anybody have any great plans for Nassau? We are looking at doing it on our own. Taking the #10 to Arawak Cay for some food and to explore Fort Charlotte. I think we will also take a water taxi to Paradise Island to check out Atlantis and the Versailles Gardens. Not sure what else we may do. We have been 3 other times but have only done the Pirate Museum (liked) and the Straw Market (didn't like).

We are still looking to see if anybody wants to have DD communicate ahead of time with our DD10. This has worked out with DS13 who has a friend that he shares emails with every week or so. DD10 is extremely jealous so am hoping somebody out there is looking for same thing. You can PM me if you want. I have posted a few pics a few pages back if you need to "check us out" to make sure we look legit :thumbsup2

I don't recall seeing too many posts about where people are staying before cruise. We are at the Radisson - anybody have any past experiences there?? Anybody there this time? We have never stayed there before so I am hoping it is as nice as it looks....:confused3

Anyways - I hope Spring starts making its way to all of you so you can feel the warmth on your face and imagine yourself in a hammock on CC!!

We will be at the Country Inn and Suites the night before. I booked through Priceline, as suggested in the DCL forum, and got it for $49 ($62 with tax). We get in very late the night before and I'm thinking of a town car to get us from the airport to the hotel. I don't want to try to navigate a new town, half asleep, with toll roads...

My DS13 has is enoying communicating with lawhit88's DS13 and can't wait to meet up and head to the teen area.

In Nassau we are sticking with a Disney excursion to Blue Lagoon Island to swim/encounter dolphins. Being our first cruise, I want to stick with the Disney program. Maybe next time I'l be a little more adventurous. :cool2:

HI Lance - Where in South Georgia do you live? My husband was stationed at Kings Bay Naval Sub Base in St Marys near Jacksonville for 4 years. We now live in Kansas City while I go to med school.

We are doing a precruise stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and doing WDW for three days...God help us...you should hear us shrieking for help :scared1: as we run for the ship after Memorial weekend and all the crowds. Hoping the cruise is our "real" vacation!

We are doing the DIS suggested Comfort Inn across from Atlantis and trying to beat the steep cost of the DCL excursion. Never been to Nassau but sadly not looking forward to it after reading what others have said. May cancel res and stay on ship, not sure yet.

We, as others, are getting excited about our first cruise. This is our honeymoon cruise-- the wedding is 5/28, then we fly out the next day, 5/29-- we're staying in the Marriott near the airport for the first night (got it on Priceline for a great rate, then taking the DCL transfer from MCO the next morning.

We've got a few nights planned at AKL after the cruise, which is exciting too since we've never stayed there before.

We've got our Palo night booked. Hoping to get a brunch time, but they were all gone. I'm going to keep checking and maybe something will become available once we get to the ship.

We live in Leesburg which is a small town right outside of Albany. It is in the southwest corner of the state about 90 miles north of Tallahassee, FL. We are a 4 hour drive from Jax.

We wanted to do a post trip to the parks but have decided to head home - definitely wish we could!!

The Comfort Inn at Nassau sounds like a real good deal - definitely better than the DCL excursion. We thought about it as well but there are 10 of us so we would have to get 3 rooms (I think you only get 4 passes per room). Now we are just going to walk around Atlantis to the places we can and walk down to the gardens. Staying on the ship wouldn't be a bad idea either.

We are a little nervous about taking the jitney bus down to Carawak Cay but have read many positive reviews about the ease and safety so we are going to chance it. It looks like our whole group will probably go with us so there is definitely safety in numbers.

I hope it warms up soon in KC - been there once to Kauffman for a baseball game - loved the stadium!!! Missouri is a regular trip for us due to DW having lots of family there - we love it (although the 900 mile drive each way can be tiring)

So formal night is wed., right? I hope enough people go with the dressyish side of formal or my teens will not be happy if I make them!

BTW, I'm not from Kansas, but I grew up in Kansas City, MO. About 10 min. from Worlds of Fun. And I had picked Kansas to win it all.

I'm making my boys dress up. I had to get DS13 a suit this year for confirmation so I used Christmas money from the great grandma's to get suits for both of them. I definately want to take advantage of the picture opportunities on dress up night. I just hope they won't be too mad at me when they are older. :)

We dressed up last DCL - did the tuxes for fun (see pic that I posted earlier). I am so glad we did - we got great pictures. I think we are passing on the formal this time - DSIL has young kids and is hoping to go very casual that night. DS13 is not complaining...

Eshlyn - I will be sure to tell DS to rag your DS a little about dressing up - jk ;).

I also picked Kansas to win it all - now my DD10 is beating me on our brackets. She loves to rub it in too.

Our thread must have a thing for Kansas, I picked them too. Not sure why, not a big basketball fan, but DH is a WVU fan so I follow alittle. I like to pick just for fun and see how far I can go...oh well !!
Not sure what to do about "formal" night. On our last 4 night, DH and DS wore a shirt and tie, both had khaki pants w/ black dress shirts and very similar ties. DS looked very cute at 5 w/ a black shirt. This time I was planning on going with Navy pants and blue shirts. I hate to pack DH a jacket if it isn't really needed. Takes up valuable suitcase space. What do you think ?

I totally agree on the suitcase space. With airlines charging per bag and us staying 5 more days after the cruise in WDW every inch will be needed. We like the picture options as well but I'm not sure what we'll do for formal night. I know my kids would rather we not dress up.

Kansas was a popular pick this year for everyone, seems like the players may have thought they could just go through the motions and win. Now they know thats not the case. Thats what makes it March Madness I guess.
