5/30/2010-5 Night Disney Wonder Memorial Day Double Dip! Roster-Post 626 on page 42

Hey everyone! They still book some of the Palo ressies onboard if we don't get what we want, right? And is there a formal night on this one? With five nights I'm guessing not, but does someone know for sure?

We have changed our Palo Reservations on both of our last cruises with no problem - and gotten what we wanted. It was one of the first things we did when we got on the ship.

I'm curious about the formal night also ... if anyone knows??

This one is a tough one... I just called and cancelled our cruise. My wife was just diagnosed with breast cancer and will be having surgery on March 18th. Then she needs three weeks for the swelling to subside…then she starts radiation therapy. The radiation therapy will take us through our sail date of May 30th, that’s also the day of our 29th wedding anniversary. She may also require chemo as well…

We’re now looking at the 7 night eastern on Oct 23rd but we’ll wait until we see what the doctor says after the surgery.

Let me just say I could care less at this point about any cruise…I just want her to get better! BREAST CANCER SUCKS! I’m a big guy, ex-military…I just want to fight it hand to hand if I have too. Since that is not possible, all I can do is pray without ceasing and hold her tight and tell her we’ll beat this. If it helps her to have something to look forward to, then maybe this cruise in October would be just the ticket. DVC was great in taking care of everything for us. AirTran still socked us the $75.00 cancellation fee per person even considering the circumstances but I can’t help but feel it’s wrong somehow. I know it’s standard policy but they’ve had plenty of notice…

Anyway…it was great dreaming about this trip with the rest of you. It helped us get through some of these PA snow storms with a smile. Maybe we’ll meet in the future…good luck all and have fun for us!

Tim, I am so sorry to hear about your wife. I can somewhat understand what you two are going through right now since I am taking chemo for Lymphoma as we speak. I know it's not the same type of cancer but I will be thinking about her and if she wants a buddy to talk to during this, tell her to feel free to PM me. Wishing both of you the best outcome...............

I will say a prayer for your wife. The treatments that they have now are really amazing. Please try to keep us posted on your wife's recovery, and have a wonderful time in October!!

Second, I've been working with Airtran all week and can't believe you couldn't get out of that fee. I tried to get out of it for something way less and was successful but it took 3 tries. Two by phone and then finally I submitted a note on their contact form via airtran.com. 24 hours later I got a positive response and then all we had to do was call in and they took care of everything.

Give that a try and make sure they know what this is about. I was very professional in my comments but I was honest as well. I bet they change their mind.

Once again, good luck with everything and I'll be thinking of you and your wife.

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I called them and they did just waive the fee. Then I checked their site for the cost of a flight for the two of us in October for when we might possibly rebook our cruise. The price is the same... I would have been out that money if it were not for your suggestion.

Thanks! The only changes I need to make on this trip so far is just to miss out on the snorkeling at CC. No big deal...been there done that......I'll just have to wait till 2011. Now, if that slide is open at CC.......well, I MIGHT just have to try it once. I do plan on spending lots of time by the adult pool and along the beach. We don't usually venture too far away in Nassau. I would be happy just staying on the ship. This will be our last voyage on the Wonder so I want to soak up as much as possible.

I was hoping we might get a sneak peak at Toy Story 3, but since it is not due out until June 18th, our cruise is probably a bit too early !!

I think DS would like Prince of Persia, and then that would start off a whole new Lego set adventure too !! With a release date of May 28th, it could be on board for viewing.
Last time on board DH took DS to see Underdog.

I can't imagine it won't be on in the theater. (Prince of Persia) Its pretty common for them to have new shows, especially Disney ones for preview within a day or two of opening. That would be cool to see on board.

We happened to be on the Wonder the same weekend that "POTC - At World's End" premiered, and they had it showing on the ship. It made for a very exciting Pirate Night

So has anyone heard about schedule on board yet? Is there going to be an actual formal night??? Or just a "dress up"? Just wanting to start planning on what I need to shop for. We are finally getting clos. I cant wait, this is our first cruise and we are so excited...paid in full just waiting til next week when I can book our dolphin excursion
