When we get back from our cruise, we're considering dropping our 'land line' phone and going with only cell phones. Has anyone else done this? If so, have you had any problems giving up your 'land line'?

License To Chill - Jimmy Buffett & Kenny Chesney

Work, work, work
Big pile of it and the boss is a jerk.
I just want to disappear
Wishin' I was somewhere other than here.

Livin' for the weekend,
Jumpin' off the deep end,
With just enough money to buy
A license to chill
And I believe I will

Let the rat race run, roll around in the sun until
Trouble turns funny, songs get sung
A little bit of money, the night's still young
Leave me alone I've got a license,
A license to chill

Girls, girls, girls
Ain't nothin' like them in the whole wide world.
So damn smart and cute,
And it's amazing what they pass off as a bathing suit.
Winners and losers
Sailors and cruisers
We're all qualified, for a license to chill
And I believe I will

Let the rat race run, roll around in the sun until
Trouble turns funny, songs get sung
A little bit of money, the night's still young
Leave me alone I've got a license,
A license to chill

License to chill
And I believe I will
Let the rat race run, roll around in the sun until
Trouble turns funny, songs get sung
One good song will last all night long
Leave me alone I've got a license,
A license to chill

A license to chill

Ramos go rent me a coupe deville
Hey KL, where's that barbecue grill
Head on down to Margaritaville
Have me a cheeseburger with a big pickle dill
Jesus, I sound kinda mentally ill
I guess I better go turn on Dr Phil

We haven't done that, but we did switch from MCI Neighborhood (unlimited long distance and all the features like call waiting and voice mail) to Vonage (unlimited long distance and all the features like call waiting and voice mail)

MCI Neighborhood...$63 a month
Vonage......$25 a month

The only difference I can tell is that if we call 911 we have to be able to give our address b/c in our area it hasn't been programmed in yet to automatically give our address to the dispatcher.

Sounds like someone needs a good snorkel!!! :thumbsup2

Kevin - I have a snorkel question for you. We bought what I think are called dry snorkels. They close when you go under water. Last time we used them (St. Martin on the 10 day) they didn't seem to be working right. Like they kept sticking closed so we didn't get any air (not good)! I know we cleaned them out well after our previous uses. Is there something we need to do before using them again?

I hesitate going all cell phone b/c really the only people who call on my cell now are IMPORTANT people. I really don't want to be out and get all the calls that come to my home number (reminding me of doctor's appointments, or haircuts, or things like that) I'm just happy letting those go to voicemail if I'm out and about.

Good morning all!

Congrats to Kristen & Frances. What type of degree is Kristen getting?

Stacey, hope today is a better day for you & Jay. We're glad to share everyone's ups & downs.

Ashley was very upset last night. She's ready to go on the cruise NOW and doesn't understand that we still have another month. Boy, is it going to be a long month.

Good news for Kristin - she got a call from Boeing for a job interview. She's doing a phone interview on Tuesday so all PD would be appreciated! It's working for Boeing at NASA in Houston!!!! She is so excited - I really hope that she gets it. She wants to cruise with us - and is planning on saying she's out of the country until 06/03/06 - which is true.....

Going to go over some interviewing techniques with her this weekend.......

pirate:

She'll be close to us!!! - we live in Clear Lake which is where NASA and all of their contractors are located!! :cheer2: :cheer2: It's a great area...growing fast - so traffic can be a pain - but, the location is perfect...30 minutes from downtown and 30 minutes from the beach...

Any help or info just ask!!!!

Not to sound like a broken record but if we are going to do things like the wine party and the group photo shoot - and you want them included in the calendar in the DIS navigator we need to pick days and times for them.

Cut off for the Navigator is May 7th. Now back to your regular DISing.

so there will be the mad dash to reservations when we board the ship and we will wait in line to see if we can get our ressies......This was the old system and it is not fun, stressful....but we "hear" that most folks will be able to get their ressie's.
Good Luck - luck for me in line......

I'm gonna (sort of) miss the ressie run - divide and conquer is the key...one person to palo, one person for spa ressies, etc..etc...

has anyone been keeping a kind of total of folks that are going to be at the Radisson before the cruise?

We are going to be in the mad dash for the Palo reservations. We missed out on getting online ressies. All we want is Brunch on whatever day is available.

Does anyone know if we can arrange with the photo services onboard for a group photo? Is that something that the conceirge could help with (for those of you not in steerage...) Would that be easier???...Anyone with experience with a group DIS photo - when would be a good time and place???

It drives my friends and my various gyms crazy because I don't give out my cel phone. First, it's a pay per minute...2nd, I never have it on...3rd, I'm lucky if I even know where it is....4th - I don't even know what my number is.... :rotfl2:

and a drive manual - a cel phone isn't happening with stick...even those hands free ones are still a pain with stick shift...

If I'm not home, I don't want to, or cant, talk on a cel phone...leave a message!!!

The more complicated the device is, the more chance for Mr. Murphy to stick his nose into things.

The dry snorkels have a float and valve in the top of them that closes when the water goes over it (surface dives, waves, etc) and supposedly opens when the water is not over it. You might want to soak them in warm fresh water to loosen up any salt crystals that might be sticking things. If you can get into the float assembly, make sure the float is free moving and the little rubber flap/valve is in good shape and not folded or glued to the seat.

I recommend the semi-dry snorkels. The top has a series of baffles that divert wave water out the side of the barrel. Remember, you should always blow hard to clear the snorkel when surfacing. With the small valve in the bottom and open top, the water will be expelled.

Here's my kareoke contribution for today in honor of one month left- I was planning on saving it for the 26th but, we leave for the airport very early. I'll be running around frantically packing last minute items...

Sail Away

Written by dennis deyoung
Lead vocals by dennis deyoung

I’m sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea
I’ve got to be free, free to face the life that’s ahead of me
On board, I’m the captain, so climb aboard
We’ll search for tomorrow on every shore
And I’ll try, oh lord, I’ll try to carry on

I look to the sea, reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy, some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever, so the story goes
But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold
But we’ll try best that we can to carry on

A gathering of angels appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said
They said come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me

I thought that they were angels, but to my surprise
They climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies
Singing come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me

We did that with the rather large group we had on the Christmas 10-day cruise. We had one of the staff photographers take the picture from that vantage point between the elevators in the lobby. We all assembled at the stairs and bunched together. It turned out nice. That way, the photo will be available to buy or not depending on each family.

I'll be bringing my DSLR and have a wide angle lens I could take the picture with, but we still have distribution to deal with.

Ok, this is where it gets too complicated for me. I need to "blow hard" if my snorkel gets water in it....Ok....so I'm underwater....water gets in and starts choking me.....I need to "blow hard" but cannot take in a deep breath without sucking water into my lungs. Where, pray tell, does one get the air in their lungs to "blow hard?" :confused3 :confused3

Ya know what? I'm just not a water person. :)
