I'm thinking of buying myself a present for Diana's birthday.
I'm tired of lugging the SeaLife camera and all its gear.
I have a couple of choices.
My "old" digital camera is a Pentax 330GS. Although they aren't easy to get a hold of anymore, I can get an underwater housing for it, for around $200.
OR....
I could spend closer to $300 and get Pentax's new Optio W10....first fully underwater digital camera w/o the need for housing.
I did read one review, though, that said the prints from it seem too "pixilated".Does that mean I'd see tiny dots on all my pictures?
I'm worried that the underwater housing they have for my older Pentax might not be the exact one....and then I'd be outta luck...like Virgil in line for the tender.
So after 30 minutes exactly what happens? The Optio W10 complies with JIS class 8 waterproof performance, enabling it to withstand up to 30 minutes of continuous operation at an underwater depth of 1.5 meters

MarkRG said:They make a lot of decent housings for older digitals.
The thing I don't like about that pentax is ion the website says it's good for only 1.5m, that's more like if I get it wet on the beach proof than anything resembling serious snorkel or diving.

justmestace said:The specs say five feet for up to 30 minutes. So what concerns me is: A. Jumping off the boat, I'd go deeper than that. But, I could have someone hand it to me...I have to do that with the SeaLife.
B. Up to 30 minutes. We're in the water for at least an hour at a time. I could come up after an hour and put it in a waterproof bag for 10 minutes...which is how long they say to have it out of the water. But that's kind of a pain, too.
I just really don't want to (and can't) spend $800+ for a digital with housing...and I really don't want to haul the SeaLife.![]()
yippeeDCL said:I actually had no idea they were coming. I have been away from the computer for several days and did not know they had been sent out. Besides, work has been a pain this week...I needed SOMETHING to remind me why I do that!![]()

Dancind said:Wow, I didn't even think of that! And it's something he would do too, the dear. Except he knows I won't open the door!
Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of the highly publicized home invasion we had here a few months back. Middle of the day, really nice neigborhood. Woman knocked on a door, the two guys with her sprang out, one dead, one wounded.
