No docs....but there won't be until the week before...stupid Pony Express....but PACKING.... it's a good thing I at least have some things set aside. My calendar just filled up like crazy. I don't know when I'll have the kids home for an entire day between now and the cruise, to get their stuff packed.

Attention techno-men!

I'm thinking of buying myself a present for Diana's birthday.

I'm tired of lugging the SeaLife camera and all its gear.

I have a couple of choices.

My "old" digital camera is a Pentax 330GS. Although they aren't easy to get a hold of anymore, I can get an underwater housing for it, for around $200.

OR....

I could spend closer to $300 and get Pentax's new Optio W10....first fully underwater digital camera w/o the need for housing.

I did read one review, though, that said the prints from it seem too "pixilated". :confused3 Does that mean I'd see tiny dots on all my pictures?

I'm worried that the underwater housing they have for my older Pentax might not be the exact one....and then I'd be outta luck...like Virgil in line for the tender.

They make a lot of decent housings for older digitals.

The thing I don't like about that Pentax is on the website it says it's good for only 1.5m, that's more like if I get it wet on the beach proof than anything resembling serious snorkel or diving.

I did a bit more digging, this sounds even less encouraging.
The Optio W10 complies with JIS class 8 waterproof performance, enabling it to withstand up to 30 minutes of continuous operation at an underwater depth of 1.5 meters
So after 30 minutes exactly what happens?

I actually had no idea they were coming. I have been away from the computer for several days and did not know they had been sent out. Besides, work has been a pain this week...I needed SOMETHING to remind me why I do that! :lmao:

The specs say five feet for up to 30 minutes. So what concerns me is: A. Jumping off the boat, I'd go deeper than that. But, I could have someone hand it to me...I have to do that with the SeaLife.
B. Up to 30 minutes. We're in the water for at least an hour at a time. I could come up after an hour and put it in a waterproof bag for 10 minutes...which is how long they say to have it out of the water. But that's kind of a pain, too.

I just really don't want to (and can't) spend $800+ for a digital with housing...and I really don't want to haul the SeaLife.

If I DO get something new...either housing for the older Pentax (which I still really like) or the new WP10....I'm going to probably sell the SeaLife.

It was probably the male stripper Kevin hired for her birthday! :earseek:

Wow, I didn't even think of that! And it's something he would do too, the dear. Except he knows I won't open the door!

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of the highly publicized home invasion we had here a few months back. Middle of the day, really nice neigborhood. Woman knocked on a door, the two guys with her sprang out, one dead, one wounded.

The Pentax isn't want you want - tho..... It's for the pool - in case it gets splashed......

I don't open the door out here, either. (Just ask Jim...:rotfl: ) So I guess I'd miss out on the stripper, too.

Remind me to tell you the story of Jay getting me a stripper when I was 7 months pregnant with Jordan. His timing stinks.

There's an article about some surfer dudes and all the media and such, using it over the weekend at some big whoop-de-doo out in the sand and ocean. They say it was made for people like kayakers, skiiers, snorkelers, etc.

:confused3 :confused3

I'M SO CONFUSED! Not that hard to do, though.
