I wasn't quite being THAT stupid :rolleyes2

We were at a major snorkelling beach on Hawaii. I was in the water waiting for the MIL when I noticed that a snorkel down in the crack between some rocks. I reached down to grab it and the eel cam flying out!

Fortunately he was only a little one and just bumped my hand and did not take a chunk out! Then I remebered that Hawaii has eels and you should not go reaching into dark places!

aaaahhhhh!!!! Poor little eel....

Now where is my Eels are cute too siggnie???????

Ok, here we go....need your take on this....am I taking it to personally?

I emailed the breeder of Maggie....just simply asked how she was doing. That we hadn't heard anything in a year...

How are things with you? Let the children know that Maggie is in good hands and is thriving in her new home. If I can ever get away and get up to Michigan, I will visit Maggie and let you know how she is doing.

Hey Maggie has a new home, kids to play with, snow to punce on - she does look good - although yes, a face shot would be nice......

My take - deep breath - Maggie is fine......she is better than fine as she is thriving........she is just in a "different environment" but has a good home....in good hands.......it is ok - honest :cloud9:

I was shooting RAW and I believe it was at iso200. The white balance probably say M since I played with it in Nikon Capture - I do not recall what the original setting was -- i will dig up the NEF file and see what is in there.

I was a really neat hike. We hiked out about 1.5 miles about 4pm. You actually walk over the lava tube that the stream is flowing through. You don't think much of it during the day time except that you can tell the rocks are hotter. At night however, when you walk back over the tube you look down the cracks and see glowing rock only a couple of inches below the surface.

Hiking in also kind of interesting since you are walking out on fresh lava which is like walking on black glass. People get their hands cut badly if they fall or just stumble and try to catch themselves.

It got dark around 7ish and we stayed out untiul almost 10pm. Later in the evening the whole wall of rock broke open and the lava stream was ~50 feet across pouring into the ocean. I will see if I cna dig out a couple more.

I liked this shot do to all of the colors -- especially the blue from the twilight.

We took the same hike in 2003 - but alas the lava was not flowing much that evening - still it was an impressive sight.....One hiker ahead of us was airlifted due to her fall....no problems with us...

Were you able to hike over new lava...The flow had moved 2 miles further from the road just days before we arrived. The recent lava was pearlescent - looked like oil sheen and Christmas ornaments combined....

We were 200+ feet above the ocean compared to the week before when you could stand at the sea and view the flow......Would not trafe that vacation fr the world, not even a cruise!!!!

Your shot is super --- I'll try to find one of mine this weekend and you can compare how little the flow was -- still when we turned around at dark, the trials of lava down the hill were neat.

An a different trip - we hiked across the Kauldra on Hawaii and actually backpacked into crater on Haleakela (sp?) on Maui for 3 days into the rain forest...Camped under the stars, only 6 totle folk there - oh wow....

We have some stories to tell...Hawaii is one of our favourite places....

Looking at my mortgage co's website....looks like I can split my mortgage payment in two, and pay every two weeks....that gets in an extra payment a year which all goes to principal. Anyone else do this???

We did this as well - but we had problems with making sure that the payment was applied to the principle....had to be ever vigilent. Then that Company went out of business and the mortage was sold to another - no problems....

Makes you be very cautious!!!!!!!

Yep! And maybe if we drink enough of them, we won't hear the darn cats outside our window that have been   (well... you know... there ISN'T a smiley for it... at least not one we want to put on a family board)...

We are nice neighbors - we keep our cats IN at night...

Actually, as much as we do like our neighbors we do this to avoid the depletion of the vacation fund as it would be paid to our Vet - who we also like but he does get enough of my money - thank you very much......

And yes, our cats are altered.....but they still fight....

Bad cats, bad!!!!!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. We have had some long talks this afternoon about what is really important. Told her we all don't always get what we want, etc. She is starting to realize that it was probably for the best because she can now concentrate on her swimming. She just missed three days of swim practice so she could try out. She is only going to get one day of practice in this week before she has a 2 day meet this weekend.

One of her other friends that didn't try out called her and told her not to worry, that if their other friends ignored them because they weren't cheerleaders, they would start their own group.

We did go out to dinner tonight at the new Fuddrucker's in town. Everyone seems to enjoy it. Dale also had a hard day as he was taking the AP world history exam at the university, so we had a nice relaxing dinner.

See it will all work out. I know she is disappointed now, but she has many other talents....esp. if she made the National Honor Society.....With swiming as well, she would have been exhausted by 12th grade.......

Kids are tough!!! Is Mom ok? :grouphug:

Don't know if I have posted this picture here before, but this was taken with my D100 in Hawaii. I was using my 70-200 with a 2x teleconverter - so using the 1.5 crop factor it was like shooting with a 600mm lens (albeit at f/5.6). My tripod is not quite heavy enough for that much glass so it is a bit soft. We were about 1/2 mile away from the flow.

Reading posts backwards and this was sooo pretty I had to include it again for the early risers to see.....hanks for sharing....

So is this the thing now? :confused3 To have graduations at every level? I was shocked when I saw my first "kindergarten" graduation. Now they have (at least) after kdg, 5th, 8th, 12th.... Who knows what else. Not having kids in the school system I guess I'm out of the "graduation" loop.

I remember when I grew up, you had to go to school 13 long years before you even THOUGHT of graduating!!!

On my list of pictures to post this weekend will be my graduation picture form kindergarten.....then I think the next one was high school....???? Not sure I recall 8th grade....(we went 1-8)...

Funny you mention that. I meant to post that my mom did me a disservice growing up. You were hurt? Eat a cookie? Skinned your knee? How about a bowl of ice cream to make it feel better. I'm wearing all of my boo-boos on my hips now b/c of it.

She also gave me another bad habit. I remember having a really tough time in college---hard nursing classes, homesickness, relationship issues....so she told me...."go to the mall and find some things that will make you feel better." OOOOHhhhh....KAAAYYYYY.....

Guess what THAT led to!! :)

Well, I don't know - a well adjusted kid who grew up to be a good Mommy???? :wave2:

I guess we should take a look at the pictures and see what we got.

Sharon, your computer has the slot for the camera card so it will be easiest for you to load them up. :thumbsup2

Thanks - our dining friends had a few.....have not had time to edit and post yet.....I wonder if I can pull stills off the video?????

We got the invitation today.
We told her it was the Batmitzvah and we would have to miss it and she was upset and in tears, the batti is the week before but we may still try leave a little earlier than the party finishes
:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Can't keep up - is this because she still does not know about the cruise - or because there really is a time conflict??????

And a U-Yop

We got ours today, but they are sitting on the counter waiting for Sharon to come home. I'm sorry to say, but the best way to make her night is to have cruise doc sitting on the counter at the end of a long day. :cool1:

Stamp foot - I want mine - stamp foot.....

There goes the theory that all the Fla. folks get theirs first.....

itdjbw said:
Must be a FL thing
maybe GA is next on the list
Think they are doing from South to North??? :lmao:

Yes, t hat is right - south - but they started in Orlando and worked North.....they forgot us :sad2:

Whew - you all were chatty last night - even cruise related questions...

Time to start taking down the Easter decorations....do laundry - get ready for work as there is no milestone post today.

Have a great Day all....

Later... :wave2:
