Checking in and then off to relax. Took tickets for the opening of our theatre group's play - we're doing the Beams are Creaking about Deitrich Bonhoffer, the German minister who was part of the plot to murder Hitler. Watched about the first 20 minutes and then brought the kids home. Tomorrow is not a school night therefore, I'll watch the rest. Dh did an awesome job with the sound design! Just wish our dramas were as popular as the musicals.

You guys are great! I lurked for a while before I posted. I just thought, "what the heck, these guys are just fun!"

Thanks for making me feel so welcome. I definitely feel ok with posting, but at the moment, I don't have too much to say or ask. I am reading ideas on what excursions to do. And after hearing about the hot stone massage, I am thinking about trying to book one of those. My DH did the massage last time, and he was in heaven for the rest of the cruise. Thanks again for the welcome! :) (I am trying to figure out how to add a picture to this.) Oh well, I will worry about it later.

Tarryn becomes the monkey when they want her to get shots........she tries to climb the walls, so all the years I have made DH take them but now he doesn't want to anymore - it's too emabarrasing!!!

KT needed a flu shot once. I got mine. Nick got his. We looked for KT. She jammed herself into a 5 in space between the wall and the fridge in Mike's office. :lmao:

So Kevin what ??? is your new monkey doing or don't we want to know!!!???
Funny you should ask...... the gif file was/is named monkey fight. My guess is he's doing his Mohammad Ali impersonation!!

We could use your DH at my house. There's a lot of gas problems around here. :rotfl:

Might we call it an "off gassing" situation???? :lmao:

Uh, oh - it may be easier for us to just stay on the ship -- or would that not make any difference? :confused3 How much time in between each shot?

Don't know if anyone answered this yet....
for the Hep B, if I remember correctly, it's one, then the second a month later, then the third 5 months later. So you could at least get the first two in before we leave giving you a good bit of protection.

Just asked the good doc....he says there are lots of ways to give it...just depends on the situation, but he knows there has to be a certain time period between shots 1 and 3.

(good thing they have good reference books to look this stuff up in when he needs it! of course, it changes all the time!)

Karen - can you ask that Doc if we'll be ok without it. We really plan on staying on the ship in Cozumel and only going into the port area in Costa Maya. Don't want to take chances but I figured if I survived my bug bite this should be easy. :lmao:

Thanks!

wow. I'm almost to my own personal milestone. only 8 more posts (after this one)

Maybe I should save it until after I come home from DC. Touring the nation's capital is sure to give me some profound thoughts.....like:

"why are these blasted monuments all so spread out?"

"how can they possibly get away with charging so much for the Metro?"

"why in the world did I not book a room at Disney?"

Thanks!

He was just quoting things off the CDC website for me for Costa Maya and Cozumel...

From the CDC website for the Mexico and Central America region (emphasis added by me) :

Recommended Vaccinations and Preventive Medications

The following vaccines may be recommended for your travel to Mexico and Central America. Discuss your travel plans and personal health with a health-care provider to determine which vaccines you will need.
  • Hepatitis A or immune globulin (IG). Transmission of hepatitis A virus can occur through direct person-to-person contact; through exposure to contaminated water, ice, or shellfish harvested in contaminated water; or from fruits, vegetables, or other foods that are eaten uncooked and that were contaminated during harvesting or subsequent handling.
  • Hepatitis B, especially if you might be exposed to blood or body fluids (for example, health-care workers), have sexual contact with the local population, :earseek: or be exposed through medical treatment. Hepatitis B vaccine is now recommended for all infants and for children ages 11–12 years who did not receive the series as infants.
  • Malaria: if you are traveling to a malaria-risk area in this region, see your health care provider for a prescription antimalarial drug. For details concerning risk and preventive medications, see Malaria Information for Travelers to Central America and Mexico.
  • Rabies, if you might have extensive unprotected outdoor exposure in rural areas, such as might occur during camping, hiking, or bicycling, or engaging in certain occupational activities.
  • Typhoid vaccine. Typhoid fever can be contracted through contaminated drinking water or food, or by eating food or drinking beverages that have been handled by a person who is infected. Large outbreaks are most often related to fecal contamination of water supplies or foods sold by street vendors
  • Yellow fever, for travelers to endemic areas in Panama
  • As needed, booster doses for tetanus-diphtheria and measles.
Required Vaccinations
  • None.
In true medical malpractice logic he says "I think Mary will be fine, but I don't want to get blamed if she DOES get something" :lmao: :lmao: He also added "I wouldn't be eating anything from a street vendor." :lmao: :lmao:

great, now only 7 more posts until profoundness needs to kick in.

Gee thanks for the extra highlight. No eating from vendors, no getting it on with the locals, no havesting shellfish. Got it! Thanks Mike :thumbsup2
