Depends which 15 miles you're talking about!!! (you'll see the humor in that when you actually live here!) The Crown Point Parkway area is a GREAT area to work - lots of great restaurants and Perimeter Mall nearby. Getting there and getting home are another story! If you look at Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Roswell & Alpharetta, the drive shouldn't be too bad. Forget Forsyth County and the City of Cumming - that's the 15 miles you DEFINITELY want to avoid!!!

There are many wonderful schools and communities close enough to the top end perimeter -- you'll have lots to choose from. :thumbsup2

Yes, I had been looking right at the north part of Alpharetta but where it is in Forsyth county due to taxes? I thought that was about 15 miles, is it closer. I see where Cumming is lots more to drive for sure (just looking on a map) LOL
What do you think of that area for living. Its the taxes that I was told is much better if I could live in the part of Alpharetta thats Forsyth? :confused3

Should we do this as a family? My kids (9 and 11) don't like scary rides, but they do like most water rides. What do you think?
The REAL question is: Do they like Bananas????? :rolleyes1

Has anyone answered this yet? Are you a repeat cruiser? If not, your posting will not show up yet? If you are a repeat cruiser, I saw the teen excursion (for CC) when I was booking?????
Yes, This is our fourth Disney cruise. I just paid this week and when I go to look at the Cozumel excursions it is there, but when I try to book an excursion, the teen excursion isn't there. I am guessing that means it is full which won't make me very popular at home.

Yes our taxes are exhaubatant here and now that we have just become a city they will probably go up some more, like we don't pay enough!!! I love our SD and the house but are planning on moving in the next year as I would rather cruise than pay these taxes plus the house is too big as we don't use 1/2 of it!!!

ATL has the 3rd ot 4th worst traffic in the nation, 15 miles could take an hour or more!!

Yea, but so is Dallas and not only that but we are top 5 for rudest drivers but get this we are top 5 for nicest customer service, rest., etc? Try and understand that one? :rotfl2:
There is also a road called Park and Preston which is either 1 or 5 deadest roads in whole of US the past several years in a roll now.
I think there is postivites to both Dallas and Atlanta and neg.'s as well! Its crazy!

I really need to get my priorities in order and go pack for DS, DD and myself.
DH gets to do his stuff - good wife hey - I trust he is capable of that!!! :lmao:

Disney Fans,

Your husband will be working in the by the Perimeter mall area of Atlanta. If you have kids in school, want to live reasonably close, and don't want to do private schools, I would suggest the East Cobb area. Off Johnson's Ferry (if you want to spend 300 + on a home in either the Pope or Walton HS districts. If you want to spend less you can go a little farther North and find a house from 100 -700 in the Lassiter HS district. We are in the Lassiter district. Great schools. If you have younger kids, you want to check the elementary and middle schools as well. Let me know if you have other questions. Happy to assist. We were transferred here 11 years ago and really lucked out, since we didn't know the area or anyone here at all. My husband did the drive past the Perimeter area to work for about 8 years.
Schools and taxes are what I am worried about the most! For sure. I was told that a elementary school called Big Creek was really good and got a National Blue Award? I guess thats real good? I would like to keep mine in a good public school and when they get to middle school age if I need to then, I would for sure put them in private if needed. I have younger kids. So any advice on schools and taxes and things like you said, I really thankyou for your help!!! :yay:

Where is Lassiter area?

Three neighborhoods by us have houses in the $150's (about 15-20 years old). The new houses accross the street are beautiful, huge, and with 700's + price tags. Probably one of the houses you are referring to itbjdw. We go tour them, but don't have any dreams of owning one. If we tried we wouldn't have money for Disney cruises. We have to have our priorities correct, right?

Yeah, you just go ahead and trust him.

Here's two experiences from my own life....

#1....Mike went to Disney for TWO WEEKS but did not pack ANY other shorts than the ones he was wearing on the plane ride down. :) Good thing we were in a villa. I did laundry nearly every night.

#2....my dad went on a 7 day cruise with us and the ONLY pants he had were his jeans he wore on the trip down. Yes. Pirate night, jeans. Formal night, jeans. Palo, jeans.

You MAY want to double check your dh's packing job. :)

off to bed for me. at least to read for awhile. busy day tomorrow. school in the morning, then piano lessons. then i offered to pick up our neighbor's baby crib from babies 'r us b/c they don't have a car big enough to get it. baby has to sleep SOMEWHERE, right? Then a swing by Whole Foods....YUMMY.

night night....

Was going to say it must be genetic till I saw you wrote YOUR dad. ;)

And hey! I don't resemble that remark. I don't do my own packing, more like I pull outfits out and then only help as much as asked for the actual packing part. I know when to get outta the way.

JustmeStace, We were on the Mexican Rivera cruise at the same time. My son recognized your picture. I think you have a teenage son.

Really??? Wow..what a coincidence! Jared will be 13 in June, so not a teen yet, but he is tall. Was he with the group of kids on the scavenger hunt, running through my room looking for a green sock?? :teeth:

The Lassiter area is Northeast Cobb, around Sandy Plains, Wigley Roads. You can visit the cobbk12 web site (I can't put the web address in the post as I don't have the minimum number of posts) and find a map. Our taxes aren't bad either. I pay less on a 5 bedroom 4 bath house here than my Mom does on a smaller 40 year old house in a small town in Kansas. Sales Taxes are 6%, lowest in the Atlanta area (which includes a 1% school tax). The commute from here to the Perimeter area can be done on back roads, and the time it takes will depend upon when you leave for the office before 7 a.m. will be much better than around 7:45 a.m. Ask away. Davis Elementary and Mountain View are good elementary schools.
