I tried the bifocal contacts, too and just couldn't do it. They tell me that they now have something better, but I'm skeptical. Besides, my glasses are now TRI-focal....so I think I'm stuck with the glasses no matter what. Can't have the surgery, I would still have to wear glasses anyway...and I can't stand the thought of someone messing with my eyes. They're the only ones I have.

Stacey, I tried contacts for astigmatism when they first came out. The contact never sat right on my eye so I just went with regular ones and never saw that well. A few years later another doctor suggested that I try them again. I did and that's what I've been wearing since. I think they must have made some advances. It may be the same with the bifocals. You have nothing to lose (other than an eye dr. visit) since they usually give you a trial pair.

Tell Mike Mrs. Scuba had trouble adjusting too!!! You are just behind me on the "growing old". I wore contacts from 16 until a few years ago. I tried bi-focal contacts and could not see clear enough for all of the close work I have to do (Accounting can be so much fun HA HA). So, I went to glasses. And, you are correct they are small glasses. They are child's size. I guess I can at least say I have a small face . . . .

I got a bad prescription this last time and it was horrible. I kept saying the glasses weren't correct and finally they figured out they had put the wrong prescription in them. Once the prescription was corrected, I was fine. Good luck with your glasses.

well, i didn't get glasses cuz i'm getting old. just out of "convenience" so i didn't have to clean my contacts every day (not too sure about long wear ones...they make me nervous) i can still see close very well. no need for bifocals or anything like that....yet. plus, mike HAS to wear glasses after his eye surgery (well, the doc DID clear him to go back to contacts but warned an infection could make him blind in that eye!!! so he's sticking to glasses)

thanks for the encouragement that I'll adjust. actually, i don't THINK mine are kids size, but kt tried them on and they look PERFECT on her....so maybe they slipped in a kid's pair! :lmao:

The original "bifocal" contacts put your close-up prescription in one eye, and your distance prescription in the other eye...that drove me nuts. I never could get the two to "come together" like they were supposed to. They do have new ones that have both prescriptions in each lens. I plan on at least trying them, just to see how they work....at my next appointment.

Good Afternoon - just stopping in to say hello. My office closed today at 11 b/c of the snow/hail/ice we are getting. YEAH! Haven't heard anything about early dismissal, but that could change at any moment. So here I am, no dd and able to DIS w/o hearing "Can I go on the computer now?" from dd. LOL!

Another fellow NYer!! Yeah!! Where are you in NY? I'm in upper Westchester near Yorktown. We got about 3" of snow so far. Seems to have stopped for a bit but they said we're suppposed to get more. Wahooo!!

OK, a stupid question but I have to ask it. I'm all paid in full and want to make reservations for excursions on the 13th. How do they charge you for those? Do they go on your room charge or do you pay in advance for them? And, what if you want to cancel, can you do that on the ship or before?

Thanks.

Hi Maria,

The only stupid question is the one left unasked. :teeth:
They put the shore excursions on your room charge. Your tickets will be in your stateroom when you arrive on the ship. You can cancel them with no penalty on-line up to 2 days before the ship sailing date. You can cancel them on-board...but according to Disney, some excurisions canceled that way have penalities. I don't know which or what kind, as we have never cancelled any that way. Good luck with making your ressie's :sunny:

Just curious ... why on earth would you need 8 usb ports???

Norton is a dog. That's what we have at work. I can kiss Mon. afternoons off because it eats up so much of my CPU time.

2 GPS, 1 DSL, 2 Digital Cameras, 1 card reader, 1 Alphasmart (something for Matt's school), ........we just have to many electronic toys!!!

You could have brought the laptop on the cruise and Mike would have done it!!! :lmao: :lmao:

Be careful of what you suggest.....we need another computer. I could give Mike the specs and you can just bring it down with you. I'll pay with Banfi.

Yea right. That is what Sharon said when she first started down the glasses road. It took her awhile, but she finally came around and admitted she was old. I'm sure you will too!!! :duck: :lmao:

What did you think? He's a Texas boy - I'm sure the audience will be kind. Keep in mind I know almost nothing about country music - Trisha Yearwood last night, made a reference to leaving her husband (not mentioning a name) at home, everyone booed - well, almost everyone, I had no clue who she was talking about...until I looked it up on her website this a.m. - heck, I didn't even know Garth Brooks had divorced, that's how far out of country music I am...

Do you plug those all in at once?? Two things can share one USB port, ya know!! :lmao:

I have those - really cool how they work - the bifocal part is in the middle of the lens - and the rest is your distance vision - amazing how the eye compensates....

They work fairly well - only when I'm tired do the really bother me when I'm trying to read.

The real question is would he do it for Lisa? She needs a laptop for her comute to her new gym to do all her homework on. Although, somehow I don't think Mike is going to be happy that you are volunteering him to work on vacation.

Are WE afraid to admit that we're old?? Not me, anyway. I really do think I'll give them a try. I hate wearing glasses.

So Doc, as long as you're here.....why won't the cut on my arm heal? The one where I stabbed myself? There's a lump under the skin, and the scab keeps coming open.
