Good Morning - back from Church - very distracted - and my turn to ask for prayers.

The family I grew up with needs hope. Oldest brother's blood pressure went way up and a vessel in his brain ruptured. That was Friday - yesterday presure out of control again. NOt much news last night - just about to call now.

So, prayers our way please.

Prayers going out. Glad to return the favor for you. :)

Welcome, skeegan. I, too, will have a dd who willb e 11 at cruise time. :) Jump right in, don't go back and read over 1600 pages, we'll catch you up quickly :)

Well, all, back from Cleveland and our "Christmas" celebration. Luckily no one killed anyone else. Only one person in the family opted not to come. So be it. Scoopie had a good time. I'll have to post the picture soon.

My mom and dad make their own wine and I think somehow we got involved in their wine making......we have agreed to help buy their supplies in exchange for a percentage of their bottles! :) Works for me. We came home with 5 bottles this time. My favorite is the Wildberry Shiraz. Mmmmm..

Sir Scuba...we were talking about you (were your ears ringing?) They are now making an "ice wine." Apparently it is made with grapes that have uneergone a hard frost, and then were picked. They can only buy one kit at a time (to make 3 gallons) because of some "law." Wondered if you knew anything about ice wine and why there would be a law like that????

Ok, off to create more ebay listings.....

Hey Karen, what are you selling? Anything red should be good right now!

Welcome Skeegan! We have a DD who will be 15, and that's all. Anyone scuba dive in your family? We have those too.

Just watched Red Eye on DVD. Not too bad. I spent the day with the girls, spectating a dance comp. Decided they should have danced at that one!

Disney Vacation Club hat....that's red! :)

A lot of dog training and dog care stuff. I've decided we just do NOT need to hang onto this ANYMORE! ;)

Yes, I do like ice wines. They are a great desert wine. Expensive and difficult to make for the winery because everything has to be perfect. Apparently they are doing a lot of this now in Canada. The tough part is getting the correct temperature for the freeze. They are picked at that temperature and immediately squeezed. Most of this will occur at night time. Here is a little write up from Fineliving.com about their ice wine show.

Though Niagara Falls has been a destination for generations of honeymooners and adventurers alike, this same part of Canada is also a destination for adventurous wine makers. The unique micro climate is ideal for harvesting ice wine, one of the premier dessert wines in the world.

  • Ice Wine is made from frozen fruit. Traditional ice wine is made naturally by harvesting frozen grapes from the vine.
  • In Ontario and Germany, for a wine to be officially named ice wine, the grapes must be frozen naturally.
  • Cryoextraction: the ice wine fruit is frozen in a freezer.
  • Ice wine can be paired with many foods but not all of it is sweet.
  • Ice wine is usually sold in half bottles because it is rare

Regarding the Law about Ice Wine....here is what I found:

A little ice wine is made in Washington and Idaho. Some wineries make “ice wine” by picking late-harvest grapes, then freezing them. The resulting wines are not nearly as good as the real thing, and changes in the law in 2003 has forced wineries that make such wines to label them as something other than ice wine. So when you see “ice wine” on the label, you know you’re getting a true ice wine.

It appears to be a marketing issue because a true ice wine is frozen and picked on the vine and not picked and then frozen.

I'm sure Virgil will have something to add between patients.

Okay I am a little overwhelmed by the number of posts on this thread. We are also booked on this cruise. DS - 17 & DD -10. Anyone have a summary of who is on this cruise? What's planned so far? Thanks. :wave2:

A brief note to say "Welcome"......

Hi Folks - Thanks for the prayers and good wishes. No good news yet, we are just waiting for the results of the tests. Still swelling in the brain and his blood pressure is not nder control.....

Amanda - I'll check out the e-mails and the calendar to see if we will be in Orlando anytime soon - EE preview sounds fun...lines do not.

Kevin, you must wipe up the spill from those dripping sounds. They had to shine the glass after the Suba's noses made smear marks on the glass.

Mary - a circle scrapbook sounds like fun, but also work. I have not even really started my (one) from the November cruise. Thought that would be a good project for the commericials when watching the Olympics.

KikiKaren, I missed the auction concept somewear along the thread....Red?

And I missed the icewine discussion - one of our favourites at Canada Food and Wine booth.

Raining this morning - and I really wanted the roof finished today.....

Gotta run....Later...

Good morning cruisers!

The circle journal does require a commitment of 8 months and to make sure you do your work and pass it on in the needed time frame.

I'm way behind on my other scrapbooks. I really want to finish up my 2005 one (WDW trips in June and November, Member Cruise in October and Disneyland in December) before we sail this May. In cleaning I also found the scrapbook I bought for 2004 so I need to do that as well. Then someday maybe I can do one for the earlier years of my life and the early part of our marriage.

Welcome skeegan! Where in GA are you? There are several of us here in ATL metro, another in Columbus & another in Valdosta.

My two DDs are on the young side - almost 6 and 3.5 at the time of sailing.

Angie

Irene,

Sorry to hear that you haven't gotten any better news. I will continue to keep you & your extended family in my prayers.

passing the buck here. :) It was Diana who said it. (this is starting to sound like a "who stole the cookie from the cookie jar" kinda thing)

actually, I know for a fact, it WAS Diana and the "red" thing was b/c Valentine's sales will be brisk. :)

Hopefully someone will buy some dog training stuff for their wife for Valentine's day! HA HA HA
