Perhaps I may do the same this year and focus on a few lines inside the card. Besides our November cruise, what is there to say - We are fine, Mother is fine, we had a hurricane, that was not fine, we had birthdays, they were fine, Easter, Thanksgiving, all good fun. Work is much the same. Food and Wine at WDW was fun. We took up scuba (no - cannot say that 'cause I haven't told Mother yet?) Meet a great group of folks on the net....Doesn't sound like letter material to me.

Later..... :wave2:

that sounds like letter material to me - short sweet and to the point - type it up on an index card with a cute graphic and then you're done...

" 2005 - We're fine - Mom's fine -; Easter - Fine; Birthdays - Fun; Work - same; Food and Wine at WDW - Fun" - quirky and I bet you'll get great comments from the receipients...

If I can find my infamous letter from 2001 I'll post it - we were living in Canada and about ready to move back to Texas... it was along the same lines except filled with ski ski ski ski ski - 2002? Going to the beach...

I'm not really inspired this year - probably just send out cards...

Nick LOVES....I mean LOVES Penguins. We went to see that movie at the theater....YIKES! A bit too much penguin death for him. Now that it's out on DVD I asked if he wanted it and he said "no, it's too sad." :( :( :(

I agree which is why I didn't watch it again. Happy Feet due out in Novemberrrrrr 2006 looks really cute. I think Nick will love that one.

The thing about DVD, you have a fast forward button. Can easily skip over the nasty bits, there's only a few.

There's a ton of other penguin footage on the disc, including a extremely cute trailer for Happy Feet and a National Geographic segment on a device called 'critter cam'. Worth renting just for the extras.

Maria,

Did you get bombarded with DIS email notifications last night? I don't think I got any for a few days, then last night ... WHAM!

I'll have to see if DH can rent it one weekend. We missed it on the big screen. I'd really like to see it ... not this weekend though ... this is SEC Championship weekend!

My first roll of underwater shots is very disappointing. Needless to say, I will not be posting any soon. The sports viewfinder on the camera is deceiving. What you see is not what you get - so to speak. Thus, I will be conducting remedial photography in the pool - at least the objects will not be swimming away while I am trying to learn. Will see.....

Now let's see what you all were up to last night.

Later..... :wave2:
I know the scenerio well!! :teeth: Taking good underwater pictures is HARD!!

With the lost of color from the water, you have to be close to get anything resembling a decent shot. Then you have to time shots just right, as to minimize the fish butt shots...... :rotfl:

That's the BEST reason to go to digital! You can review the picture right away, and if you don't like it..... delete it. Plus you can see what you might want to do to improve the shot. Closer, more light, different strobe angle, different ISO or shutter speed, etc.

The best cure is practice!!!

We used to watch critter cam on ?animal planet....maybe national geographic...can't remember. we were all excited when we saw they were going to "cam up a penguin"....watched it...same thing. Penguin death. hords of enguins trapped in a shifting ice berg--all died. Nick sat there, mouth gaping, near tears. He was furious that the CAMERA MAN didn't help the penguins...after all, he SAW they were trapped! :)

May have to get it from Netflix for the extras. Thanks!

:guilty: :guilty: :guilty: Ray just e-mailed me to ask me what the dates were that we are cruising (so he can put his vacation request in).... I can't WAIT to tell my kids... at least then SOMEONE else in my house will be    about it!!!!

I keep asking him, so who's watching your buddy when you're busy doing this? I need to ask his buddy about that...

Irene, I've got one to add to your list. The Christmas parade at MK is a don't miss! I think there are times you can see it, even if you don't go to MVMCP.

Sharon and I will be glad to come over and share the excitement with you and everyone else in your house during your Christmas party! :rotfl: (we are still checking our schedules)

Irene, i know exactly what you mean about those underwater pics. I don't use the pop up viewfinder...it just never works. Digital would be great, but I have too much $$ invested in the camera that I have now. So I just point and shoot. I waste off a lot of film, but I'm bound to get at least one good one!
I've tried holding the camera to my mask, but my mask has my distance vision prescription in it, so that's no help either. Soooo irritating!
Ans MY buddy is usually floating next to me, pointing that the fish I'm shooting has swam away!

Ahhh, the famous Christmas letter that I swore I would never write! After years of cramping hands, I gave in to temptation about 6 years ago. I don't even try to out-do some of our friends. Mine are along the lines of : The kids are busy doing what normal kids do, driving us nuts.
I am doing what normal Moms do...work, run after the kids, sleep, start all over again.
Jay is busy doing what normal Dads do....work, watch TV, sleep, start all over again.
And we took a cruise or two this year.

We have one "friend" that uses two pages for each kid, letting everyone know how superior their angels are. Makes me gag.

I can honestly think of more to write about the dog than I can the rest of us.

They start showing it as the afternoon parade AFTER the last MVMCP is over. So, for example if the last MVMCP is on the 17th, on the 18th the Christmas parade will be run in the afternoon (at least that's how it's been every Christmastime I've been there)

When we are down there that parade is a MUST SEE. This will be the first year in many years we won't see those soldiers. I LOVE those soldiers!

My friend always begs to see a "normal" family's letter....you know, not the "janie won the spelling bee, the geography bee, the quitling bee and the to be or not to be.... and johnny is the star quarterback of the football team and pulled all A+'s 8 semesters running"

She wants to see "janie dropped out of school and moved in with her rocker boyfriend and is now pregnant at the age of 16....and johnny...well, he got kicked off the football team for doing drugs (and several cheerleads) and is just barely maintaining a D average." ;)
