One of the most important things while you were gone was that Stacey did an awesome trip report of her cruise complete with pictures. We expect the same of you when you get back!

Enjoy!

I would feel uncomfortable posting about another cruise line on the DIS boards when a modarator is watching. ;)

Nice try Jim - we want a report. Call it research!

Not to worry, Jim. 3/4 of my report was about how much BETTER DCL is !!

I've waited more than 10 minutes to get off of the DCL ships when we've been DOCKED. Checking ID's and KTTW cards and ppl fighting with strollers and ppl cutting in line to "join their family."

You've GOT to be kidding me... I'll never survive... all the cruises I've been on, and I've never had to wait to get off the ship while docked... DCL checks ID's on the way OFF the ship????? That's stupid.

Milestone for the day ... got out and went to the mall today. ... snip... Tomorrow Emily's class is having a "show" and lunch. My office is also having their holiday lunch so if I'm up for it, I'll swing by there too. So I'll be out for a while tomorrow too.

Glad to hear that you're getting out and about- even if its only for a little while. See- you're having a much better day than yesterday. (Or was it the day before? My days are running together lately.)

I left the house at 5:45AM for a meeting in Tampa... thanks to traffic, I just got home a little while ago... long day of traffic-traffic-traffic-blah-blah-blah-traffic-traffic-traffic. With the exception of the 'big guy' (you know... the one on all the commercials), everyone else's presentations could have been done via e-mail... yawn.

Ray is in Miami til Monday... so I'm doing the single-mom thing... which I am SOOOOOOO bad at!!!! Ray's dad picked Christopher up from school today when I was running late... I got home at 7:30PM, to find the kids sitting on the couch, eating an entire box of Ritz Bitz cause they didn't know what to do for dinner. (I was under the impression he was picking up pizza, and staying with them til I got home...guess not.) Tomorrow night, I have a dinner meeting... so they'll be home alone again... this time, I'll bring them dinner beforehand, and make sure that they are all set... I think I'M having a harder time adjusting to letting them stay home alone than they are...

Progress reports came home today... Elizabeth's was worse than I EVER could have imagined... I don't know what I'm going to do about her. I told her I'm not making a decision about discipline/punishment/confinement/incentives/whatver for at least a day or two... I'll let her think about it for awhile, while I figure out what to do. Arrgghhh!!!!!!

Yes they most certainly do. Even on their private island. It's the only way they know if they have everyone onboard or not. Remember, people can check their kids into the club then go ashore without them - do you really want the ship to leave and split up families?

If the ship leaves without you, the ship leaves without you... that's what every other cruise line says, and I couldn't agree more!!! If people know that the ship is going to wait for them, it lessens their sense of urgency to return on time!! I say, wear a watch!!

If I remember right, when we were on RCCL - they scanned our cards getting off the ship, too...

:grouphug: When I was at my wit's end with Mike and trying to stall while thinking for an appropriate punishment, I asked him what he thought his punishment should be...I gave him the open ended question - "If you were the parent, what would you decide your punishment should be..." funny thing was he came up with far worse conquenses than I was trying to decide - I was toying with one of a few possibilities, he suggested ALL of them as his punishment/consequence -

After scooping my jaw off the floor, I complied...I thought he would come up with some light consequense favorable to himself...

some glimmers of maturity do surface now and then...there is hope...

I tried that... she said... 'take away my computer time'... which is only about 20 minutes a day... not enough!!!

What's Ritz Bitz but, cheese and crackers...come to think of it, that was my lunch yesterday... :rotfl2:

I've just started letting Mike stay home while I run pick Maggie up from Girl Scouts - in the 15 minutes I'm gone - I usually find a bit less pop in the 2 litre bottle, a bit less peanuts in the jar, a few less packages of ritz bitz or cheese its...he's been known to finish off a jar of peanuts and leave the empty jar in the pantry...as if I wouldn't notice that...

o.k. then there's my stand-by stall tactic- I'm gonna have to talk with your father when he returns home and we'll decide together...

Exactly... and he won't be home til Monday night... so she might have to wait!!!

ya know, Karen - I'm really not liking your Christmas timer...while it means we're getting closer to the cruise, it's reminding me I still don't have my infamous newsletter written, nor the Christmas card picture printed and Christmas is fast approaching...

On the good side, Christmas shopping is done, with the exception of something for Mike and we've decided on his present already...

Princess scanned everyone's card as we got off their ship, too. They have to know who's on the ship and who isn't. They also have a picture in the computer that you scan your card into...to make sure that it really is YOU getting on the ship and not some terrorist.
They will also do an "all call" if you are missing, and knowing who's missing gives the ship a chance to check with excursions, etc to find you. They really don't want to leave without anyone.
And it isn't always a matter of the time that's on your watch.....on Princess, the ship was on a different time than the ports were....so we had to keep double-checking our time.

Thanks for the reminder. I don't believe we have seen either of our progress reports. Matt will probably give us his as we are getting on the cruise ship!
