We need to talk. Sam might be joing us for part of our dives. Of course he can't talk because he is on the Magic.
Do you mean the upcoming December or in May? Either way, it's all good to me!

December. Sam is excited about a guys trip. Irene is thinking about it. Glad I'm not planning this trip. I'm just trying to figure out what to do on our cruise in a week.

OHMinnie, about the kids' class picture ... was that real???

Ang

Angie,
I only hope that my kids will stick to their values when it comes to situations like that.

But alas....no, it's not real. My kids are homeschooled. Their class picture includes exactly TWO children. My college roomie sent that to me. She gets lots of anti-MeatChicken stuff b/c she works at ESPN. :)

Yea right. You will always play with me because I came to the welding shop in August. How many other DISers have done that? :rotfl2:

NO ONE comes to Arizona, let alone the welding shop...in August...so, yes, you win the prize for that one!! Now you need to come back and help me drink some of my Banfi!

Good Morning All - Thanks for the picture explaination, I can't believe I totally missed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning Cruisers!

We sail in 28 weeks!

Woo Hoo - Another week closer to cruising!

Good morning all! It's a chilly morning here in GA but should warm up nicely to be a BEAUTIFUL day!

The girls have their first gymnastics class of this session. This will be Ashley's first time for gymnastics. I'm trying to decide if I want to take the ride & watch for an hour. Not sure I'm up for that just yet. Bruce said he'd take the video camera so that may have to do.

We will all be plopped in front of the HDTV watching the LSU/Alabama game this afternoon. This will be the deciding game for the SEC West ... pretty exciting! I'm sure we'll be watching the UGA/Auburn game tonight too.

On my progress ... yesterday was a good day. I managed to have 2 meals out - lunch with co-workers then family date night last night.

OHMinnie, I knew your kids were home-schooled. I just wasn't sure if someone else would have actually done that to that child on picture day. I'm sure no school would stand for that these days.

Did I wake up to the community board - raging teacher vs parent discussions over there... :rotfl2:

The magic of photoshop...anything is possible with pictures...

Angie, I'm glad you were able to get out and about yesterday - I think an afternoon on the couch watching football sounds just right - if the guys can do it, why can't we???

If only I was able to do that today...Both kids have 9:00 soccer games, then 11:00 is Maggie's end of season party...Then 1-4 is basketball evaluations for Maggie's Upward Basketball League at church. She will be there for all of about 10 minutes. But, I'm coaching, so I'm evaluating all afternoon. Can't complain too much - John gets to do the school fun fair with the kids...I think I got the better end of the deal!!!

Good morning everyone!!! 28 weeks....wwaaaahhhoooo!!!

A little cold around here this morning. Like Angie, it will warm up this afternoon to around 50 degrees, but right now the frost is on the grass. Pumpkins, too if there's any left. I love this time of the year in NY. The air is soooo clean and fresh. Makes ya move a little faster, too.

Today is my DS Anthony's 6th birthday party. We're having it at a nearby gym. 14 kids playing freeze tag, wiffle ball, and scooters. It's all inside so that helps keep them contained to one area. So, I already baked the cupcakes (can you believe my DS doesn't like Carvel cake?). What's wrong with him? He says he only likes the crunchies inside. I'd have to agree that they're very good, but the ice cream is where it's at.

So, I won't be around much today. Oh, and tonight we bowl. It's a once-a-month bowling league. And tonight's the night. I hope I don't miss anything good. Have a great day everyone!

TTFN,
Maria

Maybe not in GA, but OH is another story.... :)

Mike and KT are going to the big game next week. They'll leave Friday night after ballet and stop in Toledo for the night. Mike does not want to give any more of his money to that state than necessary! :) Woody Hayes (old-OSU coach) did that once.....team busses limped out of MI on FUMES b/c Woody wouldn't let them stop for gas until they were across the OH border!! :)

We're warmer than that here. I think we'll be getting up to around 70 today. As for the cooler temps making you move faster ... more power to ya! I just want to stay bundled under the covers on days like these!

A very quick good morning and I'm out the door. Took the girls to school at 8:00 to get on the bus for their competition....now I have to head down there.

I think you made a good decision in staying home today, Angie. I have to use a stadium seat with a back to it, if I'm going to be on bleachers. Nothing hurts my back worse than sitting on bleachers.

Everyone have a GREAT day!!

Nahh...but here's a good teacher story for you. On Monday (our first day back at work) Jay got a call from Jordan's math teacher. Teacher says Jordan was caught cheating on her test...on October the 25th (why didn't she call us then, we didn't leave till the 28th??) anyway...Jordan had supposedly already completed and turned in HER test, but was supposedly sitting doing another girl's test for her. So, the teacher was giving them both zeros. First thing I did was burst out laughing...why would anyone want Jordan to take a test for them? But the teacher DID say "Jordan Stenson".
So, Jordan comes home and I ask her about it. She has (honestly) no idea what I'm talking about. Not to mention, her desk is directly in front of the teacher, and there are no girls anywhere around her.
So I e-mailed the teacher to get "specifics". Jordan should be punished, if she did this, but I wanted details.
I get an e-mail back from the teacher...the next day. She says "I am sooooo sorry. It wasn't Jordan. It was another "Stenson" in another class. Sorry for the mix up".
WELL.....I know darn good and well that WE are the ONLY Stenson's in our entire area. But....giving benefit of the doubt...I look it up. I was right, no other Stenson's....not even anything close to that. Sooo.....do I let it slide, or do I call the teacher on it?? Or skip the teacer all together, and talk to the Principal??

Let me say that I realize that no one is perfect. Teachers are allowed to make mistakes, too. BUT....when she realized she had called the wrong family, why didn't she just say that? Instead, SHE lied. Which to me, is the same as the cheating she was accusing Jordan of.

I think I would be a little miffed (but then again, I get miffed easy sometimes). My first response was "nail the teacher"!! However, do you want to start a war over it?

Just keep an eye on that one, would you? :teacher: :confused3

OK, while the gettings good.....

A TOP shared with Stacey, Jordan and a strange teacher!! :rotfl2:

Stacey, I might follow up a little bit. Something like "wanted to make sure it's straightened out, nothing was written up?" Let the teacher know you haven't forgotten.

We had something like that happen, I let it go and shouldn't have. Alicia took summer courses at the private prep school here before 5th grade. It was a two hour a day for six weeks, musical theatre class that culminated in a show. Alicia was a dancer, and had a solo bit in one of the songs. After the session was over, the teachers would send home evaluations. Well, this teachers' evaluation was HORRIBLE. She said our daughter was disruptive, surly, and wouldn't take direction. I was shocked, and wondered why she didn't call me during the time the class was going on! I spoke to Alicia about it, and she was mystified. She said there was another girl, also in the dance number, that acted like that, but it wasn't her! The teacher doesn't usually teach at the school, so I just let it go. But I think Alicia was telling me the truth, because when we have seen this lady since, she greeted Alicia warmly and gave her a hug. Didn't seem to know her name, though. However, when Alicia applied to the prep school during 5th grade, she didn't even get on the waiting list. I think they looked at those evaluations.

Sorry, long story. Short version, make sure that erroneous reports don't go in your kids' records!

I leave on Sunday for Boston.
I'm jealous!!! Hope you have some time to enjoy dinner in the North End while you're there! Until we moved to FL, we were 45 minutes from dinner in Boston on a Saturday night. I miss it!!!!

Thankfully, I have to go there in April, and again next September, so I'll be able to get some REAL Italian food at least twice next year. (Not that what DH cooks ISN'T 'real' Italian... but its always nice for someone ELSE to cook it!!)

Thanks for posting, Kiki, I was beginning to think I killed the thread!

Alicia's dance group did a performance this afternoon at an extended care facility. Went fine, in spite of some falling down (slick floors and ballet shoes don't mix), and one dance done without music since the CD crashed and burned. And then there was an old guy that tried to slap my daughter's derriere. Good thing Dad wasn't there!

Not a chance... what, with all of us blabbermouths? Even at our new 'reduced rate of posting', no way!
