Sorry to hear about your FIL. I agree, kids are pretty resiliant. They are also very astute and can sense when something is sugar-coated. It's a very hard thing to know how much to tell them and HOW to tell them. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers.

FWIW, my mother had to have her stomach taken out a couple of years ago and, while it is difficult it has not been as hard on her as we imagined. Think positive thoughts!!
