Too cute Stacey! How are you a GREAT aunt???

Angie

Stacey can be a great aunt. I'm one too. My sister is much older than me and started having babies "young" (by today's standards) Now my neice has a new one...born in May. :)

Hush up. Yep, it's official, he's a grandpa.

What time is the outage tonight? I might miss it anyway, it's a good TV night. So You Think You Can Dance, LOST, and we might check out Invasion.

I'm getting the Yahoo posts by individual e-mail. So I guess I will keep up anyway.

Greetings all from Natchitoches, LA near Shreveport. My friend and and our 4 kids made it safe and sound - we got out early this a.m. and beat the traffic. We piled into her van, leaving the beetle at home. John and her dh left this afternoon after finishing shut down at their respective offices. They've hit more traffic and is slower moving. We had the 4 kids cooped up for 6 hours , they've got 1 evil feline for 6+ hours - hmm, I think we got the best end of that deal... : :rotfl2:

Thanks for all your well wishes and maybe if we collectively forcefully exhale all at the same time - we might blow this thing away from us, you think? We're safe and sound that's what is the most important - possessions can be replaced...

Monica - great to hear that you and the kids are safe and that your DH is on the way. Here's hoping the Rita fizzles out and does no damage. Better safe than sorry however!

Maria, I once had a friend tell me that remodeling is like giving birth. Major pain during the process, and you swear you will never do it again. Then when it's finished, you love it so much that you forget all about the pain! Enjoy!

When I was pregnant, we had a hole in our bathroom wall. To the outside, for several days. Couldn't use that bathroom for a while! But now we have a bathroom "suite", and our old closets became part of our nice big bedroom. All thanks to the magic of the contractor fairy. The only thing I remember is the hole.

Diana - Your friend was right. You know the proud feeling you get when someone is admiring your baby? That's how I feel. I keep asking my neighbors and friends, "Wanna see my kitchen?" They all laugh at me and by now, they're getting bored with it. Need to find new blood. Anybody wanna see me kitchen? :teeth: You start with conception(idea), then it goes on paper(ultrasound), it starts taking on a life of it's own(heartbeat) and then voila! You have a new creation right in front of you. So proud and happy. I know, I'll post a picture just as soon as the floor is done. Probably tomorrow.

Glad you're out of there, safe and sound. Hopefully Rita will die down and won't cause too many problems. Can you believe they are almost out of names for this hurricane season?

Cute analogy. I think you missed a lot between heartbeat and voila though. Like morning sickness, weak bladders, stretch marks, etc etc.

But yes, it's worth it!!

HEY!!! I have enough stretch marks from my kids...not the kitchen, too!!! The weak bladder thing...that NEVER goes away. Don't you have to cross your legs when you sneeze? Am I the only one? I don't think so. Morning sickness, not really. But sleep deprivation-for sure. Always thinking about what needs to be done tomorrow. I started taking Tylenol PM just so I could get a good night sleep. Pretty sad...but it works.

TTFN,
Maria

Hey now!
My brother married right out of high school and they had his daughter Lindsey. So that made me a very young Aunt. And part time Mama....he and his wife divorced when Lindsey was only 3 months old, and my brother got custody. Lindsey still calls me before her own mother when she needs advice.

But what makes me a GREAT aunt is the fact that I am the BEST aunt in the whole wide world!! My motto is "Spoil 'em and hand 'em back"!!

Truth be told, my nephews call me Crazy Aunt Stacey. I don't understand why....:confused3

Monica....thank goodness you are safe and sound. Hoping, praying that it will slow down for you all there!!!

Maria! I loved your analogy. I know exactly what you mean about wanting to show it off....I still stand in our remodeled kitchen and bath and just stare! I love it!!
I'll come see yours, if you'll come see mine!!

Oh my! Most nights I can't sleep unless I take *something*...ESPECIALLY if I'm not in my own bed. Asked a doctor about it once...he told me not to exercise for 1 hour before bed, only use my bed for sleeping and...well, you know, don't watch TV in bed or read in bed, avoid alcohol before bed, avoid caffiene after 6:00, ...blah blah...

I stopped on the way home and bought Tylenol PM!!

But...after taking that for awhile, Mike asked if I had pain....no....so he said, why not just take Benadryl? Tylenol PM is Tylenol and Benadryl....no pain, take straight Benadryl. I call it "Vitamin B." ;)

Glad that you made it safe and sound......I just missed the boards going down last night....I'm willing to try to go outside and face west and exhale - everyone -10:00 on the count of 3...ready!!!!BLOW!!!

Good Morning Cruisers....The path has slightly changed since last night and is now closer to Galveston - this is bad...While we cannot move the storm, a path to the south will be better as it is less populated...not good but better....oh my.

This is from our 1999 camping trip - we were at the State Park on Galeston Beach....Prayers to all who are still there...please leave!

:flower: Good morning cruisers! :flower:

Happy Thursday!

Rita Rita go away - fizzle out by end of day! Prayers to all in the path of the storm.
