I've been mulling over the bag. I'm not sure that we need one, but it sounds like it would be nice to have. Put us down for one. My boss, the library director, and I volunteered at the school book fair yesterday. We were pretty pitiful. 'Oh, we have this at the library' and 'we have that at the library'. We didn't discourage anyone from buying books, though. I was a mean mom and didn't let DS buy any. Why pay full price when there's Amazon!

And a TOP to start my morning, and on my birthday, too. It was exactly one year ago that I booked this cruise (that was a milestone birthday, ended in a zero; this one is pretty uneventful).

Good Morning, all!

I like the idea of the Mickey colors for the bags, especially if we could do yellow stitching, too! Did I already say we'd take one?

69 here - up to 88-90 - I'd say it's fall! Maybe I should convert it to celsius :rotfl2: high of 30-32c - hmm no, doesn't work - my brain then will start thinking snow when it sees 30...will someone up north post a good fall color picture "live" when the leaves turn? I miss fall colors the most - y'all can have the snow and the cold - but, I miss football weather -

I have a job interview this afternoon for a temp to hire (receptionist to administrative assistant). There is also a data entry position that pays a couple of dollars more per hour, but I think I'd get bored out of my mind doing that. I'm also hoping to get called by a company that is a block down from the library. It would be nice to stay in town where DS goes to school. The other jobs are about 10 miles away; still not a bad drive. Wish me luck that I get a job that's right for me. I really don't want to leave the library, but I only had 61 hours in September! That won't buy much Banfi.:drinking1

It was in the upper 30's here last night:cold: . I am NOT a winter person and am getting depressed just thinking about the cold and snow.:sad2:

It's a baseball weekend! The Cubs are back in town! I didn't get tickets for last night's game but, we'll be at the ball park for the rest of the weekend...

Because the Astros decided to wait until the last minute to try to get the wild card spot. National TV is playing havoc with the schedule - moved Saturdays game from 7:00 to 6:00 and now 3:00...Thought I'd ask the kids their opinion on missing soccer games, after all, we are going tonight and Sunday. Both kids just looked at me as if I was insane...Bring on the baseball!

Maggie's having a small crisis this a.m. - she can't find her Cubs jersey - she wanted to proudly wear it today...That's my girl!!! yes, hopeless on both counts -a Cubs fan and a disorganized mess... :rotfl2:

It's Friday!!! It's Kareoke Time!!! Speaking of hopeless Cubs Fans...
Steve Goodman's "A Dying Cubs Fan's Last Request"

By the shore's of old Lake Michigan
Where the "hawk wind" blows so cold
An old Cub fan lay dying
In his midnight hour that tolled
Round his bed, his friends had all gathered
They knew his time was short
And on his head they put this bright blue cap
From his all-time favorite sport
He told them, "Its late and its getting dark in here"
And I know its time to go
But before I leave the line-up
Boys, there's just one thing I'd like to know

Do they still play the blues in Chicago
When baseball season rolls around
When the snow melts away,
Do the Cubbies still play
In their ivy-covered burial ground
When I was a boy they were my pride and joy
But now they only bring fatigue
To the home of the brave
The land of the free
And the doormat of the National League

Year after year after year
after year, after year, after year, after year, after year
'Til those hopes are just so much popcorn
for the pigeons beneath the 'L' tracks to eat
He said, "You know I'll never see Wrigley Field, anymore before my eternal rest
So if you have your pencils and your score cards ready,
and I'll read you my last request
He said, "Give me a double header funeral in Wrigley Field
On some sunny weekend day (no lights)
Have the organ play the "National Anthem"
and then a little 'na, na, na, na, hey hey, hey, Goodbye'
Make six bullpen pitchers, carry my coffin
and six ground keepers clear my path
Have the umpires bark me out at every base
In all their holy wrath
Its a beautiful day for a funeral, Hey Ernie lets play two!
Somebody go get Jack Brickhouse to come back,
and conduct just one more interview
Have the Cubbies run right out into the middle of the field,
Have Keith Moreland drop a routine fly
Give everybody two bags of peanuts and a frosty malt
And I'll be ready to die

Build a big fire on home plate out of your Louisville Sluggers baseball bats,
And toss my coffin in
Let my ashes blow in a beautiful snow
From the prevailing 30 mile an hour southwest wind
When my last remains go flying over the left-field wall
Will bid the bleacher bums adíeu
And I will come to my final resting place, out on Waveland Avenue

The dying man's friends told him to cut it out
They said stop it that's an awful shame
He whispered, "Don't Cry, we'll meet by and by near the Heavenly Hall of Fame
He said, "I've got season's tickets to watch the Angels now,
So its just what I'm going to do
He said, "but you the living, you're stuck here with the Cubs,
So its me that feels sorry for you!"

Stacey, I thought of you and your golf club chair when we were at the theater in St. Louis. One of the scenes had Potipher sitting in, yes, a chair made of golf clubs. My first thought was if that was one of your chairs. I'm not addicted to the DIS boards. I'm not addicted to the DIS boards.:guilty:

I'm relatively safe this weekend - there's only team the Astros fans "hate" more...

That is, unless the Cubs decide to start winning this weekend and sweep...hmm -maybe I better bring a jacket just in case, I need to get out of the ballpark alive...

How about:

Take Me Out to the Ballgame
Written By: Jack Norworth & Albert Von Tilzer

[size=+1]Take me out
To the ball game
Take me out
With the crowd
Buy me some peanuts
And Crackerjacks
I don't care if
I never never get back

Let me root, root root
For the Cardinals
If they don't win
It's a shame
For it's one, two,
Three strikes you're out
At the old ball game!

and another TOP shared with the CARDINALS.

Some news for you from this morning's Business Brief...
The curtain falls this weekend on Busch Stadium, at least as a regular-season venue, and many local broadcast outlets plan to cover the history of the facility and the farewell ceremonies. The best of the lot figures to be a two-hour special Saturday on KPLR (Channel 11), which incorporates taped features and live interviews. It's scheduled to air at 7 p.m., although it would start later if the preceding Cardinals-Reds game telecast runs long. The show has an interesting feature on Cards broadcasters who have worked at Busch, a look at the decision to build the ballpark downtown and the climate in the city at the time. KPLR's coverage Saturday begins at 2:30 p.m. with the introduction of the all-Busch Stadium team on the field, then the station airs the game. On Sunday, its Busch programming begins at noon with pregame festivities, followed by the Cards-Reds game. KPLR then will show the closing ceremonies that culminate with the Clydesdales making a loop around the field.

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, too!!!!
Good luck with the interview!!

My Red Sox have decided to make us sweat it out til the very last game... they play 3 vs. the Yankees at home this weekend to make the final decision... they are pathetic right now, although they did pull off a late game win last night...

I am NOT O.C.D... (at least not as bad as I used to be...)
My office looks like a bomb hit it... definitely NOT the office of someone with OCD...
