Sandi,

Is your sig line right? "The few, the proud one, the fizzles"??? :rotfl2:

Couldn't figure it out, so I used babelfish translator on it.......
Well, wordreference.com lists it as big mouths, but I see where babelfish lists it as the fizzles! I guess I should just change it to 'blabbermouths' then, so no one will make fun of me :sad1:

Oh No! Poor Sandi!!!!!!!!!!

Mary and Mark - Are you close enough to go help?
I had to let him out to go to work. Gotta pay for that cruise, ya know...

Looks odd to say the least!! The problem is the scorching! If the mud/nesting materials have acted like an conductor, then the wiring insulation is probably cooked and is hard and brittle. This could lead to failure and possibly a short, maybe even a fire. You might want to take the unit apart and check the wiring. If so, then get it replaced before you activate it again, just to be safe!! :earseek:

So as long as I don't turn the switch on, this isn't an EMERGENCY? Right?

Right, don't turn the switch on and at some point get it down and make sure the wiring behind the fixture isn't burnt.

It was very windy here today, and storms are in the area now. I picked up at least 3 dozen apples off of the ground under our apple tree, today. I tried a recipe for 'chunky applesauce' in my crock pot. I used Splenda in place of the sugar. It was very yummy. Only 2.9 dozen more to peel and cut up. Must look for more apple recipes (without sugar, of course). This is the first year since we moved in 4 years ago that our 2 trees have been loaded with apples . What a treat.

Well, I've started looking for a full-time job. I really love my job at the library, but 2 days a week at minimum wage isn't going to pay for my spa treatments and shore excursions. The only thing that I'll have to worry about is getting time off for the cruise. I guess I'll just have to make it clear during interviews that I have a vacation scheduled and paid for (well, not quite paid for, yet). Even unpaid vacation would be fine with me. Would it be crass to ask for that if I was offered a job?

Care to share that recipe? I'd want the full sugar version though. :) I love homemade applesauce!

Not at all! Plus you've been in the job market long enough that you should be able to negotiate some vacation time. Good luck in the job search!

Yup, that's us in the corner of the county below the 'U' in Decatur...I'm on the wireless laptop and keeping the other pc and tv turned off. There were a couple of lightening strikes this am, one struck a transformer a few miles north and another started a house fire a few miles west of us. We have the flashlights handy and have a generator if needed.

Sandi - You are bringing a lot of past experience, training, reliability, etc. to the new job. Absolutely get your vacation! (insert foot stomp with hands on hips) Plus look how miserable and unable to perform if you couldn't go.

It called for 8 apples, cored, peeled and cut into chunks. Mix with 1/2 cup water, 1/2 - 1 cup sugar or 1/2 maple syrup, and 1 tsp. cinnamon (but I used 1 cup Splenda and about 2 tsp. cinnamon). You can also use red hots in place of the cinnamon. Mix together and place in crock pot on low 8 - 10 hours or on high 3 - 4 hours. I cooked mine for 3 hours and it was very good. I used whatever our red apples are, maybe red delicious? I can't tell what kind they are.

We're so glad to have the rain. I'm enforcing extreme water rationing at our house. We've had to haul water from town for our well 4 times in the last 2 weeks. If only we could get it without the lightning. Our dogs are big wimps when it thunders.

You need to get the "Big Dog" out of the basement and have him run the big dog video for the others!!! :rotfl2:

My dog is too darn lazy to even waste the energy paying attention to thunder. On the other hand, she jumped out of her skin when we were out for a walk tonight... a trash bag rustled when the wind blew- she practically jumped into my arms... a 75 lb dog afraid of a bag of trash out by the curb...:rotfl2: all I could think of was Scooby Doo.
