It isn't reading that has kept me away. We've been out most of the day. A visit to the zoo this morning and then over to the inlaws for dinner.

I'm baaaack! Finished the book, DD is re-reading Order of the Phoenix before she starts it. Then Kevin gets them both.

Wow, I'm impressed. I am known among the family very much as a very voracious reader, but I have never gone thru a book that quick.

Happy Sunday!

Got a busy day planned. Lots of laundry, some house cleaning, helping someone on VMK today, oh and maybe I'll even get to read some of my Harry Potter book!

Good morning everyone. Haven't read HP yet, son got it first and he finished last night, next will be hubby, then daughter then me. I don't mind waiting, I have tons to do.

I took the first step towards getting passports on Friday. Since it is so difficult for all four of us to be off in the middle of the day to go to the post office once the kids go back to school, decided that we better go ahead and do it. So, we did it and got them started. Now I need to come up with another $200 to do mine and DH's.

Lady at the post office said it was better todo them now, because they are expecting the waits to get longer as it gets closer to the end of the year.

Has anyone stayed at the Ron Jon Resort in Cape Canaveral. I was looking at this place and it looks pretty nice. Was curious what kind of rates they charge and if there is a good way to get a discounted room. Have stayed at Radisson in the past, but wouldn't mind staying at a different resort this time.

Hi Pam!

My parents just did a trip down to CB, and stayed at Ron Jon and had a great time there, was very inmpressed with the accomodations. The ONLY negative thing they had to say was the oceanfront rooms are 7 day reserve only, you have to stay on the other side of the waterpark that's in the middle for a shorter stay, which makes for a bit of a walk to the beach.

The only way to book it is to call them.

OK...DH just informed me that he would LOVE to go to WDW BEFORE the cruise for a couple of days. Say, get there on Thursday and stay until Saturday.

My question: Where would YOU stay for those 2 nights? Is the Wilderness Lodge too far away from everything? Should we stay on the Monorail? Does anyone have a clue as to where they're staying before the cruise, if those are your plans? I have a new mission now. BBAaaahhhhaaaa!

It would be great if we could be with some of you guys, especially for the kids.

Thanks for your input.

SOME of us aren't reading HP!!!

(Actually, I was looking for something good to read, and remembered all the talk about the Mitford Years books a few weeks back, so I picked up the first one today.)

I love Mitford!!! There are very few books/series I like well enough to own and that series is one of them...I hope you enjoy them!

The kids' final day is a 1/2 day on the 25 - so, we're looking at either doing WDW or possibly Ron Jon and NASA...

Haven't started on HP #6 yet, still working my way through the series to refresh - John grabbed it last night after the show, so, I won't get to it for a while.

On a similar note - during pre-show warm-ups - it was funny to see 6 or 7 constumed nuns walking around with HP. They were threatening to carry them onstage instead of Bibles. (We've also threatened to do a Monte Python entrance, banging our heads...) Brigitta was trying to figure out how she could make her entrance with her copy of HP instead of the French book she is supposed to read... :)

If we do, we'd probably stay at Pop Century - the bus transpo to all the parks and DTD is direct from Pop Century. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong - but, I think from Wilderness Lodge, you have to transfer at the transpo center for some of the parks...Opinions may differ, but we have a similar philosophy with cruising - just get me there - I don't care where I sleep (we're cat 11 on DCL...)

Did my part with 4 daily posts - now, I really must go get some work done before leaving for the show...

7th straight day of rain :umbrella: - I know we really need it - but, I'm sooo tired of rain...

Sounds like a plan. WL is a great place to stay, the bus service can get you around pretty nicely.

I believe we are planning to go to Vero Beach Resorts prior to the cruise since our AP will be expired. We've never been to VB and looking forward to the experience!

If we stay at one of the "higher up" hotels on property, is the transfer to the port included or is that an added thing? Just wondering if renting a car for that time may be more cost efficient.

I'm in the same situation, Maria. We were going to camp for a few days at FW, but now are looking at places to stay. DH would be happy just staying at Cocoa Beach for the 4 or 5 days pre-cruise, but DS and I would like to stay at WDW for a few days. Since we'll be driving down, we're actually thinking of staying off-site at Tropical Palms Resort, unless we can get a really good deal at WDW, like meals included. We can get a studio-type cottage w/kitchen for under $100/night (until Friday night, of course, holiday weekend when the price jumps to around $120/night). They do have shuttle service to WDW, too. http://www.tropicalpalms.com/

I tried to start HP twice yesterday and kept getting interrupted. This morning we're getting DS ready for church camp. We're dropping him off this afternoon and will pick him up on Friday pm. Forgot how much STUFF we need to pack up for him each year, marking everything with name, filling out forms, etc. I guess that means that I'll have plenty of peace and quiet for HP this week.
