I haven't unpacked or taken a nap (yet) ....decided to eat something first. Then it will definitely be the nap. You're right, Irene....if I unpack, I'll just want to start the laundry....and as someone wise once told me "It ain't goin' nowhere". It can wait until tomorrow. At least I got my end of the month books done at the office, so I won't feel so pressured there!

For a feeling of accomplishment, throw one load in the washer, then you have the luxury of taking a nap while it's washing... you're not loafing... you're waiting for the washer to finish!!!!

II checked out the special 10 and 11 day cruises but September, when you live in FL - will not work for us, must be home to board up house, fill bathtub with water, bring all outside stuff, including orchids and frogs that live in orchids inside the house, sweat with no electricty for 2 weeks, mop up floor, entertain mother, whose house has no electricty, clean fridge, clean freezer, cut down trees, put up fence, argue with phone company, .....

You forgot "Stand in line at Lowe's for the last batteries, flashlight, generator, plywood, (fill in the blank) at 5AM with 850 of your closest friends", and "Fill every vehicle, lawn mower, gas can, and approved receptacle with gasoline, as you won't see any at the pump for at least a week, and when you do, you won't be able to afford it!!!!"

So, does it sound like we had enough with last year's hurricanes??

No, it is stand in line at HOME DEPOT and Publix. And lesson learned, when they declare a curfew, there is no more sale of wine.....must stock up.... :rotfl: :rotfl: for emergencies!!!!

When we were landing in Albuquerque on Wednesday, the pilot kept saying something about "monsoon season" in the Southwest. Sounds like AZ got it, but we haven't seen much here. Just clouds. Watch me have to eat my words tonight.

I unpacked today, so I subscribe to that "it ain't goin' nowhere" theory. I'll get the laundry done before the troops get home, what's the hurry? I have an auction preview to attend tonight!

Amanda, I haven't heard about any special cruises either. Guess we need to go read the main cruise board once in a while.

The Wonder is doing 10 and 11 night cruises in September '06.

St. Thomas, St. Lucia, Barbados, Antiqua.
They sound nice but the double scoop is our '06 cruise.

Yeah, that's the spirit!!

Besides, St. Lucia has some NASTY bugs!!!!

and St. Lucia is so far south....which was good in December (mid-80's) but I'd have to wonder how blazing hot it is in SEPTEMBER!!

I was telling KT about these cruises and how we weren't going to do them....how we didn't have $7,000 to spend on a cruise right now. So she was trying to figure how to make it cheaper....i.e. which person should be left at home to cut down on cruise fare. I had to explain to her that no matter what the ages of the people, the first two people in a room were full price. She kept trying all different scenarios to make it cheaper ...."leave Nick at home"....."leave Dad at home"......then she accidentally said "well, how about Nick and I stay home and just you and dad go".....then she had a look of horror on her face as I told her that was so unselfish of her to consider that option and that it'd make a WONDERFUL 15th anniversary gift and she was so kind for thinking of it!!! To which her reply was "I didn't really mean it, that slipped out!" ;)

Ain't that the truth!

I wonder if we'll lose anyone from our cruise to do these special ones? I sure hope not as we have a great group.

I wish they would put out what they are doing for 2007.

I'm sure if we lose anyone it won't be the ones with the kids in school. I too hope we don't lose anyone. We aren't going anywhere.

Nope, kids are in school - we're sticking with our double scoop - just might do a 2nd w/o kids since John'll be done with his school...Although, we'll probably go out of Galveston on Celebrity or RCL - much cheaper and no airfare. Kidless, those factors outweigh Disney for us...

Sorry, but you all are stuck with us! We aren't canceling this one!!

Those ports are awfully tempting. The 10 night goes to St Thomas, St Lucia, Antigua, and Barbados, the 11 night adds St Kitts.
I hadn't thought about how hot it would be....thanks for pointing that out. Seems like from our research though, that the southern Caribbean has pretty average temps all year 'round.

Took the nap. Bags still packed. I did sort the mail, though. Two points for that??

This will be our first cruise WITH kids! We've ALWAYS gone without them (never DCL, though). We used to leave on Mother's Day every year... my kids got to watch their Mom leave on vacation on Mother's Day... but it gave them 7 quality days with Gramma!!!

When I was a kid, my parents used to take us every other year, and go without us in between. That worked out for us.

No, we aren't going anywhere but the double scoop either. I made Ray promise that no matter what happened regarding the house, that it wouldn't interfere with out vacation funds. I've waited too long for this one!

I got this today and got a chuckle out of it. Hope yall like it.

have fun!!

Hey all, just checking in. Have been very busy this week with trying to get everything ready for the kids to go back to school. All day marching band camps started this week and we had a dinner at the end today. Continues through next week until school starts on 8/15. Registered dd at the middle school today. Bought her the PE shirts and I think they come down to her knees. SHe is tiny in body frame, but tall and they are still too long on her. I think I am going to have to cut them and re-hem. What a crazy week. DS took both the written and driving tests this week in Driver's Ed and passed. Thank goodness we are through with that.

BTW, anyone here on this thread going to be at WDW during the Christmas holidays. I was so excited to see that they have announced the dates and narrators for the CP. We are going to go on Dec. 22 to hear Gary Sinise. This trip is for my mom and dad's 50th anniversary. We went for their 45th and saw Gary and he was awesome. Anyone else going to CP???

Good morning Cruisers!
