I must clarify.....African Queen was waaaay before my time. I've seen it on TCM a lot though. Now..Poseidon Adventure....yeah, I remember when that came out!

That came out right around the time my parents were taking me on my first cruise. (OK... I'll do the math for you... I'm 37)... I was absolutely petrified that I was going to fall overboard, or that the ship was going to sink, so they made sure to keep that movie (and its TV commercials, trailers, reviews, etc) far, far, far away from me... they didn't want me freaking out.

They went so far as to bring me down to the port in NYC 3 weeks before we left, let me walk around on the ship and hang out for a few hours (this was in the days before tight security) in an effort to calm my fears- what can I say - I was a worrywart until I was about 14.

Same thing at a Neil Diamond Concert - people-watching was a lot of fun - the screaming, rushing the stage and tons of black spandex from the older fans... :earseek:

I have been to see Neil more times than I can count... Mom is a die-hard fan (but NOT a spandex-clad fanatic)... so I was listening to Neil in the womb, right around the time his first album came out...

But in defense of my mom, she also took me to my first rock concert (J. Geils... 70's...) and is a huge Clapton fan, as well as lots of other great music. (Granted, she also subjected me to a Barry Manilow concert once... now THOSE people are NUTZ!!)

A friend of mine won tickets to see Donny Osmond this past winter and nobody would go with her. Guess who went? ME!!! It was fun. He still looks really, really good. Handsome as ever. Talk about your groupies. Are any of you Donny Osmond groupies? There were a bunch of women who stood alongside the wall of the theatre and sang EVERY song with him!!! OMG. Now, growing up I had Donny's picture all over my room(I'm 41), but these women need a LIFE! They flew in from all over the country. One women flew into Peekskill, NY(which is right on the Hudson River, just south of West Point) from Ohio to see him. Now that's dedication. A little on the insane line. They had jean jackets with his name across the back in studs, pictures of him on a button, most of his groupies wore Purple. Trivia question, Does anyone know why? It was a little extreme for me. This one woman stormed the stage with a record(now I'm showing my age) cover for him to sign when he was right in the middle of a song. She did end up with a kiss from him, though.

Anyway, he's still a cutie in my book, but I don't think I would fly across the country to see him.

Maria

Can't throw stones - I flew from Houston to Chicago to see Captain and Tennille about 7 years ago. They were appearing at a small college near my parents house. I also dragged my childhood friends to see them with me - 6th row :cool1: Never missed an episode of their variety show.

Nah, I wasn't a Donny groupie - Shaun Cassidy and Henry Winkler - now they were my "loves" (I'm 37)

Every now and then our computers will give us some trouble with the network and Diana can't print on my printer. She'll call and tell me about it, like it's my fault. :rotfl:

Darn tech support!!

I'm 38 (almost 39). Shaun Cassidy was on my wall in elemtary school. My best friends & I made up a dance to Da-do-run-run (?) in 5th grade for a talent show. When I was in high school & college, my heart throb was definitely Rick Springfield.

oh yeah, Rick Springfield, the good ole days of GH..edited to add .and Richard Dean Anderson, Jack Wagner, and John Stamos, can't forget Tristan Rogers (although, he stayed in soapdom...)

I'm in denial - I'm 38 - My birthday was in June but, I'm still stuck on 37 - I thought the birthday counter stopped at 39 - guess mine's a bit early...

When I was in h.s., my (boy) twin cousins that were my age were in a band. They were practicing "Jesse's Girl" and I mentioned Rick Springfield being on GH. They didn't believe. The next day I had them come watch GH to see for themselves.

I think I would still pay $ to go see him in concert. Although he's looking a little weird - probably from plastic surgery.

OK...now you did it. I love Barry. I've been to about 5 of his concerts. That's OK, I've been made fun of my whole life for liking him. I would LOVE to go to Vegas to see him. If we weren't doing this house, I would've been there!!! Just my 2 cents.

I love Neil, too. I'm mostly a soft rock kinda person, even mellow like Barry and Neil. I also love Barbra Streisand. I would just about do anything to see her in concert.

Laugh away people.....I don't care... I also like Pat Benatar. I saw her about 4 times. I like an array of music.

Take me!!! He's one of the last on my "must see" concert list...John refuses to go with me...Guess Neil and Peter, Paul and Mary was enough torture.

the rest of my list is/was:

Captain and Tennille (done)
Peter Paul and Mary (done)
Neil Diamond (done)
Barry (not yet)
Rod Stewart (not yet)
Chicago (done many times over...)

Could probably add Styx (with Dennis D. Young)
Journey (w/Steve Perry)

Those aren't going to happen any time soon -- But, since Simon and Garfunkel got back together briefly I can dream...

and Genesis...

And in the "wildest dreams because I wouldn't spend the $" category...

Simon and Garfunkel
Barbara Streisand

You mean I found someone who likes the same music as me? Mickeymo, you're my soul sister. We'll have to meet in Vegas and go and see him. And you like Barbra, too. It can't get better than that....We'll have to talk on the cruise.

TTFN,
Maria

Slow day on the boards today after all of the talk of heart throbs this morning. I'm home from work now. Need to figure out one more meal to recycle some grilled chicken breast. I'm thinking I can make them in to a spaghetti or something.

I have those calls. My response has always been "Do I look like Mr. AT&T? That is why they made manuals!"

Now we just tell Matt about it and let him figure it out.

Since I know you all love to hear about Kevin and I diving I'll post it here instead of a PM.

Kevin, I just ran into Red at the scuba store. He is doing a double dip on the SG on Saturday using the same LDS. He is diving 120's. I will have a report on Monday from him. There is a chance he might drive down next Saturday and do it again with us. I doubt it, but it would be pretty cool if he does it. That way we will know which penetration is the best.

It's ok, I won't make fun of you. I know how it feels. After all, I've always loved John Denver, and everyone makes fun of me for that! My mom, sister, and I used to go to his concert every year when it came to the Cleveland area.

I remember learning of his death (kinda a "where were you when you found out xyz happened?") We were at Mohican State Park's Lodge and I saw a newspaper with the headline "DENVER DIES IN PLANE ACCIDENT." And I thought to myself "how could the city of Denver die in a plane accident?" Duh!

Could you repeat that in English please.
