No rain here in Chicagoland and we are in a severe drought.

Wish it would even out around the country and those of us who need it would get it and those of you who have had too much wouldn't.

Good Morning - a quikc post before all day meetings.

Friends Dad will be admitted to Hospice today. It is a beautiful facility (her mother was there in January) and I will be leaving after work. Thanks to everyone for the support and prayers, I am sorry I cannot thank you each individually.

Update on realtives in England - My second cousins both work in London. Sammy is a nurse but on the opposite side of the financial district - she was called in ASAP but the devastation, while horrid, was not as first feared and they did not need as many hospitals to triage the wounded. My other cousin Nick, recently took a job in the financial district, but yesterday he road his bike to work, instead of taking the tube. His exit is King's Cross.

We count ourselves very lucky. Mother is fine, taking it in toll - and like many in the UK, she expected this after the Olympic celebration. We did not know that Nick had taken the new job, so she was spared the anxiety of waiting to hear how he was.

Prayers for those in the path of the storm. The Keys are bracing for wind, but let us hope it is mild. Evacuations have been orders. I do not know how Pennsacola can stand another storm, they are not rebuilt after 2004. Much prayers and pixie dust for them

South Florida is very worried about any extra rain. Our lakes, canals etc are full.....Damage has already occurred in agricultural areas due to the heavy rainfall in June. Many fingers crossed right now.

And the water is off in the building so I cannot have coffee. How DARE I complain about that.

Again, thanks for your support. I have not even met you guys yet but the wishes are wonderful. The post yesterday of the cruise for the Service Dad was the SMILE I needed (ok - tears too).

I need help to make up my 4 posts please.

PS. Sorry that I did not mention those of you in the remaining path of Cindy - staff safe....and dry!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wave2:

Irene - glad to hear everyone in the family is ok. You had a very stressful day yesterday. Hope you can relax and enjoy yourself over the weekend.

I'm sure someone will pick up the slack. I was gone last weekend & there was no way I could wade through the pages of posts. Someone definitely picked up my slack then.

Have a safe weekend.

Let There Be Peace On Earth

Let There Be Peace on Earth and let it begin with me.
Let There Be Peace on Earth, the peace that was meant to be!
With God as our Father, brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me. Let this be the moment now.
With ev'ry breath I take, let this be my solemn vow;
To take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally!
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me!
Written by Sy Miller and Bill Jackson

With apologies to any athiests or agnostics in the group. Just thought it was a fitting song for today.

In light of current events the Pentagon announced today the formation of a new 500 man elite fighting
unit called the US REDNECK SPECIAL FORCES (USRSF).

These North Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, Mississippi, Missouri,
Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, Texas and Tennessee boys will be dropped into
Iraq and will be given the following facts about the terrorists:

1. The season opened today.
2. There is no limit.
3. They taste just like chicken.
4. They don't like beer, pickups, country music or Jesus.
5. They are DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for the death of Dale Earnhardt.

The mess in Iraq should be over IN A WEEK!

A week - I think it would be over by sundown! Love it!

Hell hath no fury like an Earnhardt fan when he's mad!

Speaking of racing ... I'm not a race fan and have never given it a chance. It just doesn't appeal to me. Anyway, you should see the mess at Atlanta Motor Speedway from a tornado that ripped through there Wed. evening. Luckily, there were no deaths or injuries from the tornado. Many houses were destroyed as well as a lot of the speedway. Officials hoped to be racing again by the end of July but thought that a lot of areas would have to be torn down & rebuilt rather than just repaired.

Here's a link to some photos from our NBC station.

Oh Boy, Dennis looks MAD. Strong Cat 4 hurricane now. Stay safe, all of you near the Gulf coast.

DH and DD going to the lake tomorrow morning early, for scuba. Mom will stay home and get some work done. Very quiet weekend for me!

Angie - Mark showed me clips of that yesterday. Very, very sad. I was happy to hear there were not deaths or injuries. My thoughts go out to all those who lost property in the storms.

OK, my kareoke choice, given the somber mood:

Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Hmmm... karaoke... does the old "Dennis the Menace" show have a theme song? :confused3

If not, then I'll have to repeat one from a few weeks ago...

"Rain, rain, go away..." (you know the rest)

Speaking of rain ... Jim when are you going to tell us about your trip?

"Rain, rain, go away..." (you know the rest)

Not sure if this is from the TV show, but this is what google got me.

DENNIS THE MENACE
Rosemary Clooney / Jimmy Boyd

Dennis, the menace, he's a bundle of dynamite
Oh, the things he says and the things he does
Will make you shake with fright
(Beware of) Dennis the menace
Oh, you'd better be on your toes
There is bound to be a calamity no matter where he goes
His mom and dad get nervous
Whenever he's too quiet
They never know what will happen next
A cyclone, flood or rot
Dennis the menace, though he makes your hair turn gray
When he looks at you with those eyes of blue
He'll steal your hear away

Last night I got a spanking
I don't know what to think
'Cause all I did was fill my water pistol full of ink
Now I ask you did mommy have to yell at me like that
Just because I watered all those flowers on her hat
My daddy love to ride in planes
'Way high up in the sky
He didn't see my roller skates
And oh boy, did he fly
We were playing train with daddy's chair
Me and another kid
My daddy said, "now, break it up"
So that's just what we did

Repeat 1st verse

Good Morning!

No rain for us western types. In fact we are slated to have upper 90° temps through the weekend.

Alicia and I are going diving!

I'll take your 90° and raise you 111° :earseek:

What is this thing....RAIN...that everyone speaks of??:confused3
