Amanda will no doubt have a different opinion on the above, but that's mine. We didn't even go to WDW until our DD was 8 and didn't need naps or strollers!
You are inferring that our "daughter" didn't need the naps right??

Whoa!! Look at that! A TOP pirate: shared with my sleepy DW!!! :love1:

From the looks of their family makeup, they've had enough time alone to last them for awhile...
Just What are you saying???? :rotfl2:

Lil Johnny is at it again......

The new teacher was trying to make use of her psychology courses. She started her class by saying, "Everyone who thinks they're stupid, stand up!"

After a few seconds, Little Johnny stood up.

The teacher said, "Do you think you're stupid, Little Johnny?"

"No, ma'am, but I hate to see you standing there all by yourself!"
***********************************************************

Little Johnny watched, fascinated, as his mother smoothed cold cream on her face. "Why do you do that, mommy?" he asked.
"To make myself beautiful," said his mother, who then began removing the cream with a tissue.
"What's the matter?" asked Little Johnny. "Giving up?"
***********************************************************

The math teacher saw that little Johnny wasn't paying attention in class. She called on him and said, "Johnny! What are 2 and 4 and 28 and 44?"
Little Johnny quickly replied, "NBC, CBS, HBO, and the Cartoon Network!"
***********************************************************

Little Johnny's kindergarten class was on a field trip to their local police station where they saw pictures tacked to a bulletin board of the 10 most wanted criminals. One of the youngsters pointed to a picture and asked if it really was the photo of a wanted person. "Yes," said the policeman. "The detectives want very badly to capture him."
Little Johnny asked, "Why didn't you keep him when you took his picture?"
***********************************************************
Little Johnny attended a horse auction with his father. He watched as his father moved from horse to horse, running his hands up and down the horse's legs, rump, and chest. After a few minutes, Johnny asked, "Dad, why are you doing that?" His father replied, "Because when I'm buying horses, I have to make sure that they are healthy and in good shape before I buy.
Johnny, looking worried, said, "Dad, I think the UPS guy wants to buy Mom."

See - we are more than fluff - :cheer2:

Many thanks to Monica, Angie, Lady Poo, Mary, Sharon and Diana (thus far) for the helpful hints to pass along. Each family is different and she will need to make her decision. I bet there is even a thread on the main cruise board about - how old do kids need to be etc.

So, I've suggested ordering the DVD, visiting the webpages, DisBoards and now your helpful hints from all different perspectives. WHEW!

Time to get back to Little Johnny jokes.

Any other suggestions to pass along, are welcome.

This one reminds me of Karen's (kiki) son learning his zip code by using Nascar drivers.

That's exactly how old Jared was the first time we went to WDW! For the same reasons. We had taken them to Disneyland a couple of times, but they had to be old enough to walk.
It made it hard for Megan, being so much older, but Jay was great about taking the two little ones back to the room or to the pool mid-day, so Megan and I could continue our attack on the park. There was only Disneyland back then.

TO ALL IN CINDY'S PATH = PREPARE - BE SAFE - AND LET'S HOPE SHE IS JUST A PUFFBALL! OR BETTER YET, DISAPATES.

I've been trying to avoid thinking about hurricane season...with the upcoming trip....I hope I'm not like Jim & Oh-Minnie...with my little cloud (or fire) following me!

Stay Safe, everyone!!!

If anyone is interested, I just put two pics of Ash, the grand-dog, up on my online album. One day, I'll figure out how to do them here...I know, I know....my brain just can't deal with it right now.

Anyway...one is of the Little Prince on his pillows (blurry) and the other one shows how well he blends into our tile floor. He's the hairy spot!

I thought I had to chime in again but don't want to start a debate. Each family has a different situation that they are comfortable with. For us, vacations mean vacation with our children. DH & I have never had the luxury to be able to vacation without them. In fact, I can think of only 1 time that we've been able to spend the night out. We don't have familiy or friends around that we can leave our children with. Because of the expense of sitters, we rarely go out on dates. So, for us, dealing with kids on vacation is just a given and not a headache. To be honest, dealing with a kid that is not potty trained playing in a water play area is a lot easier on a parent than dealing with a potty-trained toddler that is not a self-sufficient swimmer.

To be honest, I don't see us having much alone time on this cruise. Yes, it will be nice if we go to Palo's one night. But, beyond that I don't see us having much alone time; unless DDs decide they just love the clubs. We won't push it. There is also something about seeing thing through a childs eyes that is just priceless & bring such happiness to my heart!

We made our first family trip to DW when Emily was 21 months old. Let's just say she was easier to handle at 21 months than she was at 4! There were less melt-downs and less attitude.

I'll pipe down now. I really didn't want to start a debate.

Angie

Oh, we took our kid on vacations when she was little, just not WDW or a cruise! Those were big budget vacations to us, and we wanted to make sure that all three of us would be able to enjoy them fully! We took her to San Diego, DL (twice), Seattle & the San Juans, places like that. We did the stroller thing at DL, but when we see parents dealing with it to get on busses and shuttles etc. at WDW, we just think we're so glad it's not us! But you're so right, every family is different. Our kid was not a calm, easygoing kid. She is now, but she certainly wasn't then!

Cute puppy, Stacey. Looks a lot like my childhood dog. She was a Lhasa-poo I think.

Looks like Louisiana is not a good place to be in the next week. Cindy and Dennis both look to be headed there. The Floridians must know how they feel.

Yes, OK, we did take naps on that first trip. Or at least mid-day breaks! I read in the guide books that you were supposed to do that!

I read that word as "disapparates" and that made perfect sense to me. I need to lay off the Harry Potter books.

This is too cool! :rotfl2: My typing and spelling are not, what shall I say, textbook.

I have been re-reading the HP's in preparation for the new release. I did not think that word looked right and should have looked it up.

Yup, should have, it is dissipates - Thank goodness it is not disapparates - we don't want these storms skipping out and reappearing wherever - no way!!!!! :wave2:

What a laugh - a TOP with Harry Potter - Diana - Cindy the TS and Webster's Dictionary. I'll give KikiKaren a plug as well, 'cause we know how she is about "spelling" - there we go again, more HP references. I "wander" how long this will last? When is that book released?

I don't think HP is out until the 17th - but, Sandi gets to read it early as one of her library perks... Think I'll go buy it - the library cue is up well over 700...Just got the e-mail my hold on Janet Evanovich's Eleven on Top just came in...

Think it is released on the 16th - Just read a story about all the security surrounding the books. Unbelievable!

I'm too lazy to go back and cite the original post...

Christopher was trying to remember our new zip code when we moved here... so Ray tells him, remember the drivers numbers: Earnhardt Sr., Rusty Wallace, Ryan Newman, Earnhardt, Jr.

So when you ask him what our zip code is, he tells you, "Senior, Rusty, Newman, Jr." Guess that's the mark of a TRUE NASCAR fan! (Mary understood it perfectly!)
