Ok y'all. I have a confession to make. DH has no idea that I've been part of this cruise meet board & chatting away with folks that we'll be cruising with. He does know that I read the general disboards but doesn't know that there is a cruise meets boards & that I've been chatting. To be honest, I'm not sure how he'll take it. Have any of you been through this before? How do I break it to him that we'll meet people onboard? He's the type that just wants to veg out on vacation and not make plans to meet up with people. What do I do???

Well, Angie....your DH and my DH will have something in common!
Jay didn't know, and then when he did know, didn't understand all of this either. I slowly began by telling him that I had been talking to some people who were on the same cruise, and little by little I told him more and more. The only things he ever really had a fit about was when he thought we all gave out too much personal info. He said "Do you have to tell them everything?" (Uh, well, yeah!)
But by the time we cruised....HE was handing out waaaay TMI over drinks at dinner! He still enjoys his quiet time on the verandah, but he would sit quietly to one side during our DIS meets, smiling, watching me "network"....and finally came out of his shell. Now if I mention a cruise, he wants to know which of "our friends" are coming!!

Dh, John has just volunteered to take the group photo - (I e-mailed him the list as my "tip/news" for the day) - he's a semi-pro photographer - says it's more of a self funding hobby but, I haven't seen the self-funding part...

One step closer to getting him on the boards...

Guess what! I'm going to do it. After all this time of missing my sweet kitty, I'm getting a kitten. And maybe two! A friend has four kittens whose mama died, they are 3 weeks old, and are being bottle fed right now, but when they are ready, I am at least getting one of the little girls and maybe one of her brothers. I still don't believe I'm doing this...especially since I am getting the grand-puppy this weekend. But I have 3 weeks (at least) until the kittens are ready. They are sooooo tiny and cute! Grey, orange and white with some tiger stripe to them.
I'm thinking of naming them Tony and Cleo......(that's a test to see if anyone "gets" it. If not, I may change their names)
Geesh, am I crazy??? Shouldn't one of you try to talk me out of this?

Last year, I attended our DIS meet alone. We weren't anywhere near as active or as social as this group, so he was more than happy to let me meet everyone to put names with faces. He certainly reaped the benefits of my lurking and asking questions on the main boards. My main refrain on the last cruise was "Thank the DIS'ers I learned it from the boards....." As a joke, after week booked I started IMing a tip or a news item of something that has changed since our 3/04 cruise as part of a count-down until this cruise. He's already questioned how to figure out coordinating dinner table arrangements...Now, he's just stepped up to coordinate a group picture...It won't be long until he starts posting...

Ha! And what an oxymoron, to have my name connected with anything "graceful" !!

I can certainly understand why you would not want to take that on again. It was a good idea, but you had to put way to much effort into making this happen. Thank you again from all of us that enjoyed the fruits of your labor.

Not a problem. Just tell him all of you are getting together with a bunch of people you never met, and share intimate details for the last several months for a party! Should be fine.....

Try and arrange a mini-meet before the cruise. That's the way we meet Diana, Kevin, Alicia, Karen, Nick, KT,Mike, and right before the cruise Mary & Mark picked a box up at our house, so we meet them before the cruise too. WDW is an excellent place for a mini-meet. Or, are you one of the Atlanta area individuals, arrange to meet for lunch with someone who lives closer by. It really is nice to get to put names and faces together before the cruise.

On that note - I should really meet Kikipug (I mean you do live only one sub-division away). If you are ever available for lunch (or stop by on one of your bike rides), let me know.

Not me, sounds good. You know the kitties will love people, though they may have some weaning issues, biting, kneading,etc. If you get the two kitties and the dog all at the same time, maybe there won't be territory issues either. And maybe they will entertain each other enough not to drive you crazy when you are home during the day. Sounds perfect.

Are Tony and Cleo from the Wedding show in Vegas? Otherwise, I've no clue.

OK...here I go. Does anyone happen to have a picture of the T-shirt from the 10-day? Just to get an idea of what it looks like? Was it made by a T-shirt place or computer print out? I understand it was blue? Who did them last time? How much were they? Give me all the juice so I can work on this. My husband is going to kill me. He's slowing understanding me. Not bad after 11 years!!! He loves me whether he admits it or not....LOL I'll be waiting for your responses.

BTW, I just happen to be in the liquor store yesterday, hmmmm, and looked for Banfi and found it. $19.99 a bottle. I will pick one up next time I'm in there. NO, they don't call me by name when I walk in.

Here's a picture of the front of the line group in our shirts.

The back had a screen print showing the ship and the islands we visited. It was 4 color and blue was picked because that became the background or "sea".

The front had an embroidered logo (see photo of bear below) and for those who wanted their names (both real and DIS) embroidered.

GaRry - the one in the jester hat did the shirts for us. They were a real nice quality. It was such fun to have them before we got to the port so that we could all spot each other.

they stayed til 930 PM to finish the ornaments for us.
Buy they way did everyone find the hinden MICKEYS???????

SORRY this cruise is not in my budget HOLIDAY 06 YES.

Oh no... I pretend that I know NO ONE while wearing bicycle shorts... at least til I lose that 20 lbs... it would be a bad first impression. . (When you see someone buzz by your house with a yellow baseball cap and sausage-looking bike shorts, that's me!! )

But really, though... its such a tough DIS-meet for us- we really DO need to get together!

Diana, at first I thought I might name them Romeo & Juliet. But that's way too........whatever. So, I thought....Anthony & Cleopatra. Tony & Cleo. The kids put a MAJOR nix on that! Guess we'll have to wait and see what their little personalities are like.
BTW, did you HAVE to mention that they will have claws? I was trying to block the vision of my furniture being kneaded!
