Saw a thing in the paper today about "joust" with peeps. You stick one of those plastic swords through them so it appears they are holding the sword (start at the back, exit via the chest area) then place them about one inch away from each other on an upside down paper plate. stick in the mirco for anywhere between 10 and 30 seconds on high. watch them get really large until one of them impales the other on the sword, then it deflates.

haven't tried it yet, but it sounds fun!!!

found the article online...better directions and a PICTURE!!

1. Purchase Peeps. We bought yellow, lavender and blue chicks (bunnies don’t work, because they don’t stand up) for 99 cents a pack at the supermarket.

2. Insert a toothpick "lance" into the ‘‘chest" of each "knight." We armed our contenders with plastic toothpicks. Wooden ones work as well — and don’t melt.

3. Place the chicks on an inverted paper plate, so that the ends of the toothpicks are about an inch or so apart.

4. Place bets.

5. Close the "arena" — er, microwave door — and zap those puppies. Cheer raucously for your favorite. Within seconds, the Peeps will swell and one will impale itself on the other’s toothpick. We experimented with times from 10 to 30 seconds. For safety’s sake, less is more.

6. Watch your fingers and don’t overnuke. The Peeps can become very hot.

7. Enjoy the smell of burnt sugar.

8. </B>Eating the combatants is optional but not recommended. WARNING: JOUSTING WITH PEEPS IS A DUMB, INANE, SHALLOW, STUPID, UNENLIGHTENED ENDEAVOR — AND UPROARIOUSLY FUN. ADULTS: DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT CHILD SUPERVISION. AND, SERIOUSLY, BE CAREFUL.

:rotfl2: Didn't your mother teach you NOT to play with your food???? :rotfl2:

Does sound interesting, wonder if it would make a good office pool??

Peep abuse would NOT fly in our household. They are, after all, a major food group. DD knows every holiday at which they can be found.

I could go for a chocolate dipped slice of key lime pie on a stick. Yummmm.

Just got back from the pool - gotta love spring in Houston - the outdoor pool. Maggie's Easter is far different from mine as a girl - she can actually wear her Easter dress without snow boots :sunny:

Here's another mindless debate question:

Which end do you eat first on the Chocolate Easter bunny??

. Since you have been there before, do you think the package is worth it??
Honestly, no, I say save the extra bucks. The day is so full with the royal swim, and snorkling that is available there. I dont think we could have squeezed in the sea lion show. Of course, we also had early seating for dinner, and we had to rush back to the ship to get ready in time.
Also, how much more did you spend on the videos and pictures.
We did not buy any pictures, but if I recall I think we paid either 29.99 or 39.99 for the video. It is great though, since the RS group is so small there are plenty of shots of your family. Pictures were pretty pricey if I recall, maybe 14.99? Or possibly even higher.

If either me or hubby stays out and doesn't participate, would we be able to video tape from land and take pictures, or is it to far out.
You will be able to watch, go to http://www.dolphindiscovery.com/cozumel/default.asp and look at at that picture of the park, the aerial one. Do you see the boxed in area of the ocean? That is where you will be doing your swim, the larger area of the boxed in portion. The outline of the box is a walkway, and that is where any observers may stand. You can take a water camera, but honestly, I was so busyenjoying the dolphins and helping the kids when it wasnt our turn (remember that water was very choppy) I didnt get many quality shots. My mom was watching and I asked her to use my camcorder and camera, yeah right, she is not good with electronics! LOL

How much did you pay for taxi to get there?? Are they taxi vans that could accommodate 7 people and if so, what is a reasonable rate? Thanks,

Taxi seated 5 on the way there, and it was $10 (we were 6 and the driver let us squeeze in. On the way back, there are taxis lined up, and they knew they had the advantage over us. THey would not let us ride in a car, and we had to take a mini van taxi and I think it was $20. I was kinda po'ed about that, but what was I gonna do walk back? LOL

Pam

All in all it was very well worth it, and after watching us, my mother's only regret was that she did not shell out the money to do it. When I asked her if she wanted to do it, she like your DH, was taken aback by the price. She opted not to do it, as she felt she could not afford it. After seeing us do it, she really hated that she missed the oppurtunity.Personally, I say the whole family do it. I know it is expensive, but it is something you all will never forget, and I still cherish the memories I have from that day!

Amanda,

Thanks for the responses. Abbie at Dolphin Discovery has called me twice today trying to make a group of 7 fit. I think we have opted for the whole package because you also get to swim with the sea lions as well as the dolphins. None of us are big on snorkeling since we are all desert rats. Abbie told me the dolphin swim did not include admission to the park, so that brings the total to $137 vs. $165 for the package. Throw in the sea lion swim and the sea lion show so I guess it is not too bad. Talked to my friend Susan and they want to do it as well. Right now the most they can do is get all of us on the sea lion swim at 12 and then only 6 of us for the dolphin swim at 2. We will only pay $59 fo the person who doesn't swim with doolphins. However, she did say she was going to do whatever she could to get us all on the dolphin swim at 2. She was really nice.

I figure we will go directly there when we get off the ship and spend the day at Chankanaab and then as soon as the dolphin swim is over, we will head back to the ship to get ready for dinner. I am going to call back now to go ahead and book it. I can't believe they are so full this far in advance.

Thanks again for answering all of my questions.:flower:

Pam

Amanda,

Those are really pretty good pictures your mom took. Love the one of you in the dorsal pull. I am definitely not a petite person and I was wondering if there was a weight limit with the dolphins.

Pam

Thank goodness, that would be embarassing. However, maybe this will motiviate me to lose the 35 pounds I have added since our vacation last summer. I did great last year on the Atkins diet, but then I just gave up and put it all back on. Now I have to start working on the diet again so I can fit into my swimsuit again.:rotfl2:

We must have both been on the same diet plan! LOL I had lost 40 lbs via Atkins and walking, then, like you, just fell off the wagon so to speak and put it all back on.....sigh...one day......
