This go-around we're planning on staying on board or catching a taxi to Paradise Beach. We're looking forward to Castaway Cay, but have a "been there done that" attitude towards Cozumel and are looking forward to spending time on the ship.
Being one of the best scuba diving locations in the Caribbean, Cozumel is one of our (DD and mine) favorites! I could stay a week there and be happy. Definitely a different world below the surface of the ocean.
We have to see that famous "Cozumel ocean blue" color that Alicia likes so well.

Since the excursion topic has started already, is it too early to ask where everyone is staying the night before?

Just got next year's school calendar - the kids get out of school the Wednesday before we sail...That would give us 2 extra days... :cool1:

Hey MickeyMo. My daughter gets out of school on that same Wednesday, but my son who is in High School does not get out until Thursday. We live in El Paso. They have the kids that are going into 6th grade (middle school here) start a day before everyone else, so that they can get used to the school without other kids there.

Last cruise we were on, we stayed at the Radisson the night before. It was very convenient. I haven't really thought about it that far. We always rent a car. If we were going down on Thursday, I might consider Ron Jon, but if son doesn't get out early, we probably won't fly down until Friday. If that is the case, Radisson is probably our best bet.

After our 10 day cruise and all the luggage schlepping we did, we have actually talked about using the transfers next time. Between the scuba equipment, formal wear, and enough clothing for 10 days, it was pretty bad. So that means either a Disney resort or the Hyatt at the airport I think.

OK, I'm not all there....what's HHI? :confused3

Thanks.

Maria :flower:

Disney Hilton Head Island Resort, in South Carolina. I'm not DVC, just getting a great rate with the Disney Visa. It is a terrific resort. I have a hard time choosing between the Magic and HHI.::yes::

Diana - That is why I use DCL transfers, it is difficult managing the stuff and Jeanne's wc. I may drive down in May so I will stay near the Magic. I leave my car at the port and pay for the parking so we can get an early start north. Hey, we can board with the Scuba's.

:flower1:Good morning cruisers!:flower1:

Happy Wednesday!

Sue - we are DVC but have never been to Hilton Head. We'll have to try it out some day.

Photo gallery update! Monica sent me a great photo of her family and it has been added to the gallery. Come meet Monica and her family today!

I know a lot of you are talking about excursions. Has anyone ever cruised and not done any excursions? I was thinking that since our two will be so young, that we'll just stay on the ship. With the exception of CC, of course. :cool1: Or, should I be researching excursions that will take our young DDs?

I have skipped the excursions when we have been in the Bahama's the last couple of times. It was WONDERFUL!!! The pools were empty, the lines for food short, and it was very peaceful. I am looking at excursions at each of the locations and I will do some if one looks good to Lisa & I (the boys will be diving). I wish I had not done 4 excursions in 4 days on our Christmas trip - it was too much. But, that is just my opinion.

The pressure is already starting. Note to self - set alarm for 4 am so DW can be first in line. :flower:

Y'all have made me feel better about not doing excursions. If we do an excursion, it will more than likely just be to a beach with the girls.

On a separate note, we have been to HHI a couple of times - once for our 1st anniversary (in a studio) then again last year with my sister & her family (in a 2 bedroom villa). Both times were great trips! Both were non-peak times so the resort was not full and prices were GREAT!!! We didn't mind having to drive or take the van to the beach house. I would love to go there again!

We aren't "doing excursions" on the cruise either. However, I would like to snorkel in Cozumel, and maybe do a beach day at one of the private beaches in Costa Maya, and I'm hoping I can tag along with someone. DH and DD will be diving, of course.

Hey, "Tagalong" Buddy.....you know you're always welcome to come with me!!!

I can just "hear" that conversation:

 "Honey, you go ahead! Lisa, don't forget the wine bag! I'll be there in a few after a stop for breakfast"

I don't think so. I think she is just be realistic, as are Lisa & I. The boys love to dive and I certainly want them to have a great time on vacation.

Also, if Lisa doesn't want to do an excursion at one of the ports, I may want to be a "tagalong" buddy too with Diana & Stacy.

Please excuse me if I don't go back and read the first 248 pages of this thread but wanted to jump in as we just made our reservation on this cruise. Looking forward to it as we get a late March snow here in NJ. At time of cruise we will be ME (Jim), DW, DD8, DD7, DS4 in connecting 8s on deck 6.
