Lisa is now trying to convince us to go over next Saturday so she can spend so more time with KT and Nick (they are there for two weeks - my kids (and I am) VERY jealous.) We will have to see how the week plays out, but I may contact Karen to see what they are up to and see if I can connect the kids again.

Awwww, we didn't hear from you! :(

Sorry, we ended up working around the house. Matt had a Spanish project with a classmate and he wasn't sure how long or exactly when they were going to do it. Lisa has additional hours at the gym - Sat mornings from 9-11 3X a month and 9-1 in Orlando once a month that began on the Saturday we were looking to come back. Jim and I just decided maybe instead of trying to "fit" one more thing in we really needed to take care of things around the house. Not nearly as much fun as coming back to see your family.

Seems like ages ago! Haven't caught up with the posts, not sure I ever will. Still working on the huge USPS crate of mail that came today :earseek:

Welcome home. There is no reason to go back and look at all those old posts. :guilty:

I'm sure you won't find anything worth reading. Just start fresh.

Just a whole lot more 'pot-stirring'... but that's nothing new!!

Can I have a large one? Just incase I get stuck up a river without a paddle??

I think you'll have to fight Sir Scuba for it...

I need to change subjects on y'all. End of school is Fri. for us. Any ideas on teacher gifts??? I had 2 parents in education so I REALLY try to steer clear of knick-knacks. At Christmas I did a movie theme - Blockbuster gift card, bag of microwave popcorn, Coke & a candy bar. I was thinking of a Barnes & Noble gift card for the end of the year. Any other good ideas out there????

OhioMinnie - do your kids give their teacher a gift??? ;)

HA! Yup! :)

Also having had two parents in education, I'd find something that the teacher can ONLY use for herself.....gift cards are great!! I remember the last day of school before Christmas, my mom would bring home up to 50 cheesy gifts (1/2 day kdg gives you TWICE as many kids!). Being that my mom cannot throw out ANYTHING, she probably still has them---all 28 yrs worth of them!!!

I know my mom would have MUCH preferred gift cards, especially to restaurants as we were too poor to eat out much at all. I'm afraid book store gift cards would have been used to buy books for her classroom, which probably wouldn't have been the gift givers intent.

Don't know what your budget is, or if you could go together with other moms, but what about a spa gift certificate. I know teachers could use a good pampering once in a while! :)

HTH!

Mary,

Needed to send you a picture, but didn't have your real email address. I hope you don't mind, but I sent it to the member 2005 address. Didn't know if you check that one regularly or not. :)

Anyway, hope it comes out. Mike is at work and I really have no idea how to resize a picture, so I guessed. It'll probably come out the size of a postage stamp on your screen!!!

Being an avid reader, I've done Barnes and Noble cards quite often, movie passes, and also have grouped with other parents for a gift certificate at a nice restaurant...This year, both kids have had exceptional teachers with whom they really have formed a close bond. The kids wanted to give each teacher a special book, in addition to a gift certificate. Mike is giving his teachers Frindle by Andrew Clements (a very sweetand funny story about an inspirational teacher who remained a boy's favorite after he became an adult...I loved reading it too...)

Maggie is giving her teacher Muggie Maggie by Beverly Cleary - story about a teacher who used creative methods to help her learn to write and read cursive - Maggie learned cursive this year- and because the title has her name, she wanted to give her teacher that book....

DH is well known among previous teachers for his white and dark chocolate mousse so, I'm sure several batches will also get made in appreciation of their efforts...He's also been known to make soda bread, or other coffee cakes as either end of year or Christmas gifts...

I want to know where the green llama with the banana on its back came from. I'm pretty sure that isn't a DIS boards smiley.

Only one at a time will be bestowed the honor... on board next May, you'll have to beat the previous day's pot-stirrer to earn the privilege.

Is that a llama????... looks more like a tequila worm that sprouted legs... or am I just hung up on those margaritas that I never got to drink on Friday night???
