Aw, the memories. We had such a good time last year. Seems so long ago now. Sure wish we could see everyone. It was wonderful seeing Stacey and Jared in Phoenix last weekend.

Good morning everyone!

Karen and I were talking about this on our April '08 thread so I thought I would share it here as well.

Pam (and any other of the blabbermouths) sure you don't want to go on our April Eastern cruise. So the kids miss a week of school. Karen can homeschool them for the week. :lmao:

Lord know I would love to, but with a senior about to graduate from high school, and an eighth grader about to graduate from middle school, I don't think the schools would look to highly on it. Plus, they do all the state testing in March and April. Definitely a no-no

Okay, I just got all caught up reading everyone's posts. I have not had a moment to spare this week. We didn't get back from Phoenix until Tuesday evening and then I went back to work on Wednesday and today. Got home tonight and had to get everything repacked for our trip to Tucson tomorrow. We are going to head out at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.

First, Sharon -- sounds like Jim and Matt are having a great time. I know you know what it is like with the gymnastics. I sometimes wonder how we do all that we do. Now that it is summer, She has to be at practice everyday M-F at 6 a.m., Saturdays at 7 a.m. and M/W the second practice at 5 p.m. It is only the first week of that and I am already exhausted.

Irene -- Glad you guys made it back from your trip.

Maria -- good to see you back here on the boards

Angie -- glad Ashley is feeling better

Stacey -- sorry I didn't get back here to wish you all a send-off. It was so much fun getting to sit and visit last week. Sorry I kept jumping up and doing stuff at the swim meet, but you know how that goes. I am one of those OCD moms. Hope you all have a great trip.

Karen -- how many days are you all staying in San Diego. If I can't get to DL, maybe we can meet up in SD. My brother has a beautiful house with lots of space that I can crash out at.

Now, back to the updates. We had a good time in Phoenix last weekend. It was hot, but not unbearable. Ashley had a pretty good meet. Things that I didn't think she would swim well in, she did much better than I thought. She ended up 5th in the 50 breast, 7th in the 50 back and 8th in the 100 breast, and 10th in the 100 back, 200 back and 200 breast. Her other two events she got 16th in the 200 IM and 17th in the 100 fly. She dropped time in all events and is at a great starting point for the rest of the season. This meet was extremely competitive as there were swimmers from all over the place. She will swim in Tucson this weekend and then will be at a swim camp for next week. That is when I get my break. Dale and I are staying at a suite hotel in Tucson next week while she is in camp so that we can be around if she needs anything and do a couple of college visits for him.

Well, off to bed I go. Hopefully I can get online next week at the hotel.

We'll get to San Diego on Tuesday, October 2nd. We fly out Saturday, October 6th. I know one of those days will be at the zoo, one will be on the USS Midway. The third one I think will be filled up with stuff my dad has done out there that he wants to show us (going to Coronado, going to the bar where they filmed the scene in Top Gun, etc) But you are more than welcome to join us any of those days! :)

Happy Birthday to the DIS! It is 10 years old today!

I know it has been part of my life for the past 7 years and I've made a number of great friends because of it.

We love the San Diego Zoo! I hope to get back there some time when I'm actually feeling well. First time we went my ankle was acting up and I had a hard time with all the hills etc. Second time we went I had a nasty cold and coughed my way around the whole zoo - not fun at all.

I've always wanted to see the Hotel Coronado and since it is now part of the concierge collection maybe we can even stay there some day.

My dad went to a Sunday brunch there last time he visited. Something like $60 and he said it was like a cruise breakfast on steriods. We're opting not to do that this time b/c there ain't no way anyone in our family will get $60 worth of food! Or we'll all walk out of there stuffed and be miserable. Plus the fact we won't BE in SD on Sunday. ;)

I loved San Diego... wish I had longer to spend there when we were there in '05. We had brunch (or a huge breakfast... details are fuzzy after their GREAT bloody Mary's) at the Edgewater Grill, in Seaport Village... its not the Coronado, but you can SEE the Coronado from there... so I guess that counts for something :rotfl2: .

Gee, thanks a lot, Mary! I hadn't even considered this. Checked point charts and found out how much it'd be to house our family and my parents there.
Dunno....we could swing it point wise....that's not the issue. The other issue is I don't even feel like I "fit in" at the Grand Floridian....how will I be at Hotel Del Coronado for several days? Of course, the other guests will have stories "you should have seen the redneck hicks at the pool today!"

Plus, the place we're booked at now (Comfort Inn--total cost for 4 nights is $400) offers bunk beds for the kids (they'd love that) and a free/included breakfast. Gee, Hotel Del Coronada doesn't offer free food! :)

Although isn't this what DVC is about? Staying places you wouldn't otherwise stay? After all, this hotel is $375 a night PER ROOM! We'd NEVER stay there on cash.

Hmmm....what to do....what to do???

Kevin....is that YOUR hand???? Are you trying to steal OM's rubber bands? Didn't have enough of your own??

Sorry, haven't been back. I think Alicia took the photo, so no help there......

Maybe that was the girl Matt was protecting outside the door????? :rolleyes1

Maybe you keep the Comfort Inn and just book one night at the Del Coronada and you and Mike have one night for just the two of you with your parents staying with the kids. Oh Cupcake!

Hi Folks - I have a SEAWORLD Orlando question...I thought perhaps KikiKaren might have some good suggestions, feel free to chime in.

A family of 6 will be going and they are looking for a place to stay with a kitchen (etc.)

Suggestions....the primary reason is SeaWorld....I lose track once I leave WDW property.

Thanks in advance..

Received our documents for the 06/16 cruise!!! Doing the Doc dance.... still upset that none of you are joining us............

We stayed here http://www.tropicalpalmsrv.com/ when we did SeaWorld before our cruise last year. We had a nice cabin w/kitchen close to the pool. It's not 'upscale', but we enjoyed our stay there.

If they are looking for something VERY close to Sea World... Residence Inn is right around the corner... I've stayed there several times for meetings, and I always end up with a 2-bedroom suite with a full kitchen... it sleeps 6.

Hi guys! We made it to Charlotte with no problems. Heading for dinner and then will hit the sack early for our flight on down to T & C tomorrow.

I hear you Virgil, I'm upset that no one is joining us on THIS trip!!

Will check in when I can. The internet service here (Holiday Inn) is really fast and it's FREE!
