Hi gaRry!! Tell 'Nessa hi for us and give her a big squeeze!!!

Hey, Stacey, at least you will see a bit more of Jordan this year. Nice that she still gets to do dance team.

A bit bored here. Our wonderful new TV quit working, the lamp went out. We have to wait about a week for another one. We have Netflix movies waiting, and this is the finale week for So You Think You Can Dance. Not happy.

Garry and Vicki, have a great time at WDW! Take your personal cooling systems, OK?

We will be in Orlando Sunday, but I am afraid we will be spending the afternoon / evening playing the Taxi Service for our children. Both kids are flying home, but there is a few hours in between the first child and the second child's flights. It will be nice to have them both home again. :cool1:

Unfortunately, this also means school is almost back in session. This means I lose my "personal reader" on my drive to Gym each night. She will be back to homework mode.

Well anyone one at W D W this week end?????????????????

That's the best kind of bonus! We have some cookies in ours somewhere, but I can guarantee they aren't Thin Mints.

And we would not have to pay for the ad...they would pay us!!

Mark, that is cute. We will make sure Lisa sees it when she comes home on Sunday.

Hi all, I am starting to get around again. I drove my car for the first time today to get to the chiropracter. Funny how you miss those things. I hadn't driven since the day I drove into Houston from College Station. I have been having daily visits with the chiropractor and am finally able to get around a bit. Still can't do any bending or sitting for long periods of time, but at least I can get up now. Doctor doesn't want me going back to work until Monday, so at least one more day at home. Unfortunately, I can't do any laundry, house cleaning or any of those things that really need to get done. We usually have a housecleaner come in twice a month, but she has been out of commission due to surgery since the beginning of summer.

Dale started his marching band practice and is gone all day, so he is no help during the day. It has been good that I have been home this week, because I am still not sure what to do with Ashley since Dale will be gone. She is old enough to stay home alone, however, she gets so bored and I get 10 million calls at work. Her best friend is going to be gone on vacation next week, so because our wonderful legislature changed our start date until August 27, she still has 2 weeks before school starts. Our last day of school is June 6, and I still don't know when Dale's high school graduation will be. I am going to start making calls tomorrow. I can't make any summer vacation plans until I know that.

For those going to DL next summer, where is everyone planning on staying? I can't decide if I want to use DVC points and stay on-site or stay at the Candy Cane Inn. We love that place. It is so clean, nice breakfasts in the morning and they run continuous shuttles to the parks.

Stacy, I must have missed something. Why did Jordan decide not to go back to the high school?

We have Ashley's swim banquet on Saturday night. It should be lots of fun. Several of the kids have been rehearsing some dance numbers. They are doing a number from Grease and made them some really cute poodle skirts, and then another number with a latin theme.

Mary -- Prayers for your friends. This must be a difficult time for them.

Also, please keep our military friends in your prayers. Our friend Michael that went on the cruise with us has been stationed in Saudi Arabia for the next year. As soon as he comes home in June, they will be moving to North Carolina. Also, another friend is in Iraq (will end up having to stay there for 16 months) and his family is here. I admire all the wives that keep the homefront running with their husbands overseas.

take care everyone and prayers for all in need

My turn to ask for prayers for a friend. The HR director at my work that I'm very close to lost her 22 year old son this past weekend. We haven't heard the cause yet but since we heard he was found dead on Sunday morning we can't help but think drugs or alcohol were involved. Needless to say she is devastated. Please keep Jean and the rest of her family in your prayers.
Oh how horrible. I can't imagine.... I'll definitely have your friend's family in my prayers. :(

She's home schooling. It's actually called "Distance Learning". But it's fully accredited and an actual diploma, not a GED. And she's doing the "academic program" to prepare for college.
Home schoolers are allowed to participate in school activities, so she gets to stay on the dance team.

How does it work staying on the dance team and other school activities? Is dance team not a class during the day similar to other things (atleast how they are here) like cheerleading, band, etc? I'm curious. Sounds very interesting to me... but with all the stuff Ruby is in- that's the major reason she'd go to highschool is band, athletics and MAYBE cheer (if she tries out and makes it for highschool next year too). I'm not a homeschooling type person- but she'd probably be good at doing it herself with this distance learning (meaning I'm not interested in homeschooling my younger ones- but she's older and would probably do well just learning the stuff/taking tests/etc. on her own!)

As my lovely bride mentioned, I did make it. The dive gear did not, at least on the same plane I did. They promised delivery today.......

Yes, we did have a GREAT time!! Diving was terrific, diving with friends priceless!! Should have seen the big Permits swimming off the side of the USS Duane, and the school of Barracuda above the main tower array!!! Just Awesome!!! Uh Irene??

"Lens Envy" is an ugly thing..........

Pixie dust and Wishes for all in need!!
that stinks the dive gear didn't make it! That's why Jeff didn't take most of his dive gear on the last cruise. However for the one next year (since it's longer and he plans on diving at more than one port) he wants to take all his dive gear... and this is exactly what I'm afraid of. :( I mean let's face it- I'd be sad if we lost another bag full of clothes and stuff -but clothes could be replaced a lot easier than the dive gear -it would be pretty hard to replace (quickly) all his dive gear and it would affect all his fun at most of the ports during the cruise!

Hi All, we are back from Houston. As Monica said, lots of rain. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet up with Monica, as I hurt my back the first day I was in Houston. Ended up in the Emergency Room and then spent the remainder of the week in the hotel. Was not even able to go and watch Ashley swim except for 1 day. She did not have a good meet. ONly had 1 best time out of 6. I think she was just too exhausted. This summer was grueling for swimming. We now have 3 weeks off before she starts back up again.

I have a doctor's apointment this afternoon as I still am not mobile with my back. They are going to want to get rid of me from work if I am not back soon:)
Oh I'm s sorry about your back! How did you hurt it? I hope you're okay! :(

Huh? I didn't do anything wrong. I see an "E" there....:rolleyes1
Uhuh... nice try. :rotfl:

Wanna trade? thanks to our wonderful state legislature, school won't start until August 27...

The kids asked to go to the pool. I'm willing to take the kids, but they have to clean their rooms and Mike has to practice. They aren't too motivated - they're watching Family Feud... I'm determined not to nag or yell, they know what has to be done first...

Why would you want to trade?
I'll admit that this summer being longer -is something I thought would be nice (to have longer summers like we did as kids) but honestly I'm getting a bit sick of it. I'm ready for school to start. LOL HOWEVER, I'm hoping they don't start earlier next year because that would be even more school they'd have to miss (since we're taking the EB repo cruise). They used to start like 1st week of august then last year mid-August... not this year Aug 27th. They've cut down on the breaks and stuff during the year which is fine with me...

If I had my "dream wish" they'd start after labor day next year so they wouldn't have to miss any school due to our cruise. Dream on huh? I know...

Good morning all!

Monica & Mary, both of you had sad news. Your family & friends have been in my prayers.

School starts on Monday for us. We had open house at school yesterday. Emily got to meet her teacher. I hope we like her. I don't know anyone with older kids so don't have the scoop on teachers from year to year. The teacher seemed very nice & gave Emily a big hug when she walked in the room.

We inquired about Brownies. Emily has been asking for the past 2 years if she could join. I'll attend an informational meeting in a couple of weeks. So ... on that cookies in the freezer thought ... we'll be the ones with them in the freezer come next summer!

Hope everyone has a great weekend & everyone stays cool.
Ang

oh no, this is the first year we forgot about cookies - usually, they're gone within the first two weeks and I'm asking the cookie mom what she has left in her inventory... Thin mints and a big glass of milk make a great breakfast for mom!!! ;)

Maggie has been fortunate to be a part of two great troops with wonderful leaders. Her first troop disbanded and she was invited to join a friend's troop with girls from a different school. She went in only knowing her friend and both of us were welcomed and instantly felt like we belonged.

Maggie loves her Girl Scout experiences!!!

Good news to report on my friend's husband Lars (from her blog)

We are so pleased to report that Lars has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home. We want to clarify, that at this point, his kidneys are removed as he awaits his transplant. He will continue on dialysis three times a week until a possible transplant in September.

Progress is being made on the family room :woohoo: The walls are painted and John is working on the entertainment center. I'm not worrying about cleaning for awhile, the sawdust is flying.

This afternoon, we're off to Galveston to stay the weekend with friends at the the beach house they've rented. We're the back-up plan since the family they invited changed their plans at the last minute... Don't mind being 2nd choice, it gets me out of the house...

MARK!
I hope your wife let you know. We're invading your place two weeks from tomorrow! ;)

Really? Then I guess my working to get house projects done has a real purpose! :rotfl:

Have been looking forward to it!

(Just because I don't post much doesn't mean I don't know what's going on :P )

Oh, I know. I was just ribbin' ya! :)
Don't do any house projects on OUR account! We didn't do any on yours when you came to visit! :lmao: :lmao:

Oh... they're on our account too... trying to get into the HDtv thing, including putting up a new DirecTV dish and running the cables and all. Nearly killed my garden by hitting it with weed control products, though it's springing back now. And some overdue closet weeding, more like summer than spring cleaning. ;)

If I had my "dream wish" they'd start after labor day next year so they wouldn't have to miss any school due to our cruise. Dream on huh? I know...

My ideal school year would be to start after Labor Day and end by Memorial Day. It could be done easily by eliminating the Teacher Duty Days and the Early Release Wednesdays. In our district the Teachers negotiated to have classes shortened on Wednesdays so they would have time for Prep, Meetings, etc. However, you can't find a Teacher in the Middle School 5 minutes after they dismiss - all gone. The only Teacher I am aware that will allow them to be in his class room prior to school is the Band Teacher (who is AWESOME). Kiki may know of some others, but they are definetly few and far between.

When I had to pick Lisa up from school each day to take her to the gym last year, I asked if she could stay on campus for that early release hour and study in the library or elsewhere. I was told that was not possible. All kids must be off campus immediately following school unless they had a special group meeting (like Band, Dance, etc). All I wanted was a place for her to do her homework rather than wasting the time walking home, only to have me pick her up and drive right back by the school (Yes, I am bitter!!!:rotfl: )
