I'm finally feeling caught up enough here to be excited.

(Fe)Ebay has informed me that I am losing my Powerseller status unless I get busy. I'm not selling enough lately and therefore not making them enough money. I have inventory, but so little time it seems. Off to work.

Interstate by us closed down this afternoon. Luckily I was going the OPPOSITE direction at the time, but I was surprised that 3 1/2 hours later (on my way home) it was STILL closed.

This is why:

It's Feebay, their official nickname. Because they up the fees every year, right on schedule. Between listing fees, final value fees, Paypal (Ebay owned) fees, you can't afford to sell anything for $10 on Ebay anymore. If you do, you're in the hole. And if doesn't sell, they still get the listing fees. They wind up charging as much as a regular auction house, but they're still the only online game around. Believe me, I've looked.

One interesting thing, I've noticed the number of auctions in the categories I search are way down. There's still thousands, but maybe not tens of thousands!

That explains a lot for me. I noticed there were not a lot of small price items anymore or they were "buy now" at a higher price then what they are worth.

I have not bought much off Ebay recently because the prices seem to be high for what I am looking at. Oh well, guess I really don't need to be shopping anyway.

Good morning everyone!

I think a lot of people have cut back on their ebay buying. I know a lot of the people from the last Member Cruise said the things they were trying to sell just didn't move like in past years. I know I haven't bought anything off ebay in over a year (not that I was that big a buyer before that).

Back from our whirlwind tour of "Eat and Drink Our Way through New Orleans"... surprised I didn't gain 20 lbs. Had beignets at Cafe du Monde, Gumbo at The Gumbo Shop, Po'Boys at Mothers (with the Coral Reefer Band at the table next to us... they sure can eat a lot!!!!), Bananas Foster at Brennans, and Alligator Sausage at the Superdome...

Now back to reality... oh well.

The interstate between Phoenix and Tucson was closed yesterday for a doozy like this one. Car and truck collided...don't ask me how....both exploded. The truck was carrying drums of sulfuric acid.

It's tax time. Bad time for people to be buying.

I never realized they had so many fees! I guess if you were going to sell small-ticket items, you'd really have to sell a ton of them.

Yup. I think you're right. Sad stuff. The news said "east and west bound lanes were closed" but I had BEEN on the east bound lanes and they were closed (AND SURPRISINGLY moving at regular speed despite 18 emergency vehicles in the west bound lanes)

But then when i found out the driver HAD been going east bound, I thought they must have closed east bound for awhile to look for skid marks or any sort of evidence.

They've been redoing the bridges over the interstate here for years now. That means that there's always somewhere along the route where you have to go from four to two lanes, so it's always a mess. And lots of accidents.

Ebay is still a good place for collectibles, which is how it got started. It's actually good for clothing too, if you're very familiar with your measurements, and for jewelry, if you're careful who you buy from. When I'm shopping for electronics, books, music, dvd's, etc., I can almost always find it cheaper somewhere else. We just sent a DVD recorder back to Amazon, and it was almost completely hassle free. Still had to be repacked. They sent us a new one as soon as we notified them we were sending back the first one. Can't see that happening on Ebay.
