The Double Scoop was our 5th Disney cruise, and 7th cruise overall...and we STILL have not done all there is to do.

I know Jay told a few people on the cruise that this was his "last one"....but I caught him last night saying "Next time, we'll do......" :thumbsup2

Our '07/'08 calendar won't be out until March '07 - but, historically, the kids get out the last Friday in May, so it should work for us... '07 they are out on May 23. BUT '08 - the last Friday is May 30 - so, we may still be in school the week after Memorial Day. We may wait and book after the '07-'08 dates are released.

This may cause a bit of a discussion in our house - camera or cruise...I bet right now if it were to go to a family vote - cruise would win 3 - 1 :lmao:

That's kind of a chicken and egg discussion, isn't it? You've got to create the memories, so John has something to take pictures of. Thus, you must cruise. Did you see the great shot Kevin got of you two? I bet you don't have many shots with both of you in it!

By the way, the Vero Beach shots in Kevin's album? The water over the orange toes, the little kid playing, the sand sculptures, were all taken by Alicia! I guess her shots of waves taken on her belly didn't make the album. She was really trying.

Oh, that's funny. Sort of a delayed recognition that he had a good time, eh? And what is it that he wants to do next time?

I LOVE the photos of the little kid playing... so cute! (So do we know who this kid is, or was it just a random stranger??? I'm sure her parents would br thoroughly impressed!!!)

We didn't know her. I told Alicia maybe she should have asked the parents for their e-mail address, but that could be a little weird. Kevin and I were reading, I don't know if the parents noticed the paparazzi.

It was more snorkel-related than cruise related. He said "Next time, I'm going to ask if we can wear a weight belt". He wants to go down like the guides do, and get a closer look.

I know, he could just dive. But he can't....ear troubles.

Got through my pictures last night (whittled it down to just under 300!), and got them posted to Smugmug this morning. Here's the link. From this site, you can order prints or download the original-size pictures, if you want to print them at home. The instructions for that are here.

Whew! Now I can finish that laundry... (Had to keep those priorities straight!)

We too....and we missed Castaway Cay - last time we were snagged on the beach with the ship in the background, so this time we sckpped the formal poses, alas, no neat shot with the Magic logo for us???? (pooh).

Maybe we can cut and paste????

I've done that before. Swapped heads, added people and animals... Ah, the joys of Photoshop!

So, any suggestions on how to start on my first ever scrapbook? There is a scrapbooking store near work. Should I just go there? I think it may be a Creative Memories store but I'm not sure. There are also Michael's & Joann's. Would it be best to take a class somewhere? I'd really like to throw something together without spending a lot of money. Is that even possible?

Ang

Sure it's possible!!! I started with Creative Memories, but moved away from it when I became more adventurous. (CM likes things pretty flat, and focuses on paper and stickers, rather than ribbon, metal, etc.) I learned a lot from the Two Peas in a Bucket message boards and gallery and from reading magazines.

To get started, all you'll really need a decent trimmer (12"), scissors, adhesive, and paper/embellishments. You can get albums and just about anything you can imagine at Michael's/Joann's.

I'll warn you... It's a very addictive habit! If you need any suggestions, just let me know!!!

Angie, you got some great shots! Love the way the smiles get bigger as the cruise went along. Looks like you spent some time in character lines, though.

So Sandi & Larry got a chocolate cake for their anniversary celebration? I'm jealous! All we ever got on second seating was white cake! And they always brought it out after we had eaten dessert, so no one wanted any.

2008 is a maybe for us. I actually talked the studio owner into having the recital two weeks earlier than she had tentatively planned so that Alicia could be in it and still cruise. I think there were kids that still had finals the next week. 2008 is recital year again, maybe I should let the studio owner pick the date this time. We were sort of thinking we would push our next cruise back to 2009, and it would be Alicia's graduation trip.

Even if we can't go, can we still chat on the thread? :rotfl:

Thanks for the comments about the pictures. Guess it takes someone else's perspective to help you notice the little things. I hadn't noticed about the smiles. I can't remember if I mentioned before but about 2 or 3 days in to the cruise Bruce admitted he was having a great time even though he's not a beach person. He's always sacrificed and done the beach for his family. I think the company we had on beach days definitely helped ... thanks Samantha & Jim! I thought he'd really give me a hard time about the whole 'internet' (DIS) thing but he was really cool with it and enjoyed the friends that we made. I'll definitely be DIS'ing again next time & hopefully there will be a few of us from the blabbermouths going together in '08.

We did spend a little time each day in character lines - the price you pay with little ones. Emily loved it. Ashley's still not crazy about the "head" characters.

Yes, Sandi & Larry did get the chocolate cake. I think it was better than whatever I had for dessert that night.

You're most welcome! We had a great time with you guys as well - it really made the trip special. I'll never forget our two electrical engineers trying their hand at the structural type work of building a sand castle!

All the "macro" pictures - Alicia's, the flowers, added to the night-time photos are adding to his "I want it now" list...

No, John doesn't step out from behind the camera too often. I rarely have family photos too or the two of us - I did make the formal night photos non-negotiable for everyone concerned - I was a bit disappointed the characters weren't out for fomal night - our 1st cruise formal night picture with goofy was my favorite.

I'm hoping to pull various photos from everyone of scenery, the ship, etc. For as much as John takes pictures "semi-pro" - I really have to bug him to take the camera and to use it for family photos!!!

Yes, thank goodness for the ship's photographers. That's usually the only way I could get photos of the three of us as well. I'm thankful for the couple of pics he took of Alicia and me. Now to get them printed...

Samantha,

Great pictures! Are you sure you didn't have 3 girls on that trip? :lmao:

Thanks to you we'll have some great pictures of all of the girls.

Did you point that out, or just make a notation in the "book"???? :rotfl2:

I think Jay enjoys himself. He just doesn't want anyone to know........ :rolleyes1

True, I didn't give her credit for those (although, I doubt anyone would believe those were MY feet!!!). She did pretty good and the composition and lighting control, and got some interesting shots! I'm so proud!!

Great job!!

Looking through those, it occured to me that you, John and I (from what I've seen, more than likely MORE) all got the same shot of the Magic from the Costa Maya dock! Soooo pretty! Pretty funny!! :rotfl2:

So, anyone with dancers watching So you think you can Dance? It's on FOX. We actually kind of sort of know the kids that did the swing dance last night, Benji and Heidi. Kind of sort of in that we met them once when they were kids, and just starting to dance together. Kevin and I went to a week long dance workshop in Palm Springs taught by Benji's Dad and Ron Montez. Makes it fun to watch the show, anyway.

OK... all of you photographers out there... how can I fix this picture... because of the contrast between the light (outside) and the dark (inside), it didn't come out good... (yes, I know... the best way is a do-over...)
ChristophersFavoriteSpot.jpg

I'm only using the HP software that came with my printer... only options to control are brightness and contrast... neither of which seems to help... is there any hope, or do I have to re-book for '08, and hope that he still fits in the porthole... (that was one of his favorite spots on the ship... every time we passed it, he had to stop and climb in.)

You've got some HUGE exposure problems with that one. Should have used the flash!! Note to Kiki: Always use flash if shooting against a strong backlight!!

I played with it a bit;

Some selective brightness and contrast work....

ChristophersFavoriteSpot.jpeg

fast and dirty, but there might be hope for it!

What size is the original? Do you have pixels to play with??
